Ideas need for ice cream buffet for DD birthday party

I'm having a party for my DD (7) at my home next weekend. We are doing a bubble theme and having LOTS of bubbles to play with, a craft to do and pizza. I'm making a 9x13 cake (that's what she asked for, she doesn't want a store bought cake) and we plan on doing a ice cream buffet.

So far for the ice cream buffet I'm thinking I'll get some Breyers vanilla ice cream (on sale this week). I've already bought M&Ms and Oreos to crush for toppings, "shell" fudge sauce, caramel sauce, and chocolate chips. I'm feeling like we need some other toppings too. I'm avoiding nuts and strawberries due to allergic guests. Any ideas?

Going with your bubble theme, why not do something like bubblegum drops or another candy that is round. Unless you are having guests that are much younger, having gum shouldn't be much of a problem. My 7 year old son loves to put fruity pebbles on his ice cream, so maybe your daughter's favorite cereal.

Ooohh, this sounds like FUN!!! Can you do M and M's or chocolate chips? whipped cream, gummy bears, skittles, malt balls, sprinkles, pretzels (they go so good with ice cream)????? Have a blast!!

If you know you have any guests with peanut allergies, plain M&M's are not peanut free, as they are produced on the same line as products made with peanuts. A friend of mine has a daughter who is severely peanut allergic, and this is something she's made me very conscious of.

Great point about the M&M's. Read all labels if you have PA kids . Some chocolate chips are ok, some are not. Oreos are safe but off brand are often not.

Thanks for looking out for PA kids. Birthday parties can be hard on them!!

If you know you have any guests with peanut allergies, plain M&M's are not peanut free, as they are produced on the same line as products made with peanuts. A friend of mine has a daughter who is severely peanut allergic, and this is something she's made me very conscious of.

I don't know if I have any peanut allergic kids coming, but I know that one kid is strawberry allergic. I figured I'd just avoid nuts to be on the safe side...plus, I don't like nuts! That's good to know about the M&Ms though...

Oh, this is such a cool idea! I think I will consider this for my DS' 8th bday party in December...I know he wants a Lego party but I was trying to come up with a unique food idea. This past year we did a brunch (french toast and waffles, turkey bacon, lots of fruit, and bagels and quiches for the adults)...everyone enjoyed not having the pizza and nuggets deal for a change, and we had a blast doing it! I love the idea of serving an unusual sort of food.

I'm also glad someone mentioned that about M and Ms because one of DS' best friends at school (who he will surely want to invite again even if they are not in the same class in the fall) has a peanut allergy.

Never heard of a strawberry allergy...that would bum me out for sure, I LOVE strawberries!

We usually get waffle bowls, whipped topping, hot fudge, strawberries (frozen with puree - and thaw), nuts, cherries, pineapple, crumble up oreos, chocolate chips, caramel and vanilla ice cream and let everybody make their own sundae.
