My DD teacher is retiring this year.. any ideas for something small to give her from DD?

How about asking for the teacher to take a pic. With your DD. Then print it out/ develop it and have DD make a nice frame from Popsicle sticks and decorate it with maybe terms she learned that year in class. ( I.e. if she learned addition you might put 2+2=4 on one of them. Or the year in which she was your DD's teacher. Or perhaps even if you can figure out how many years she has put in..you might write like 25 years on top and then a couple words that your DD uses to describe teacher on bottom ( best teacher ever, fun teacher, learned a lot from this teacher..etc.)

Most teachers want to know they made a lasting impression. And personally, I like to think back on previous students and know that they took the time to show their appreciation. Of course, less creative route, but always welcome is any gift card to restaurant, book place, movies...and such.) :goodvibes

Our PTO does this but it would be nice from a student's family as well (or get the whole class to go in on it):

We get a book that is in the teacher's wheelhouse of interests for the school library and put a nice inscription on it saying the teacher's name, etc.

A book donation to the library is a great idea. A donation to an organization in their name would be nice too.

When my son's third grade teacher retired I was a class mom. I sent home small blank cards with flowers on the cover home with each child and asked them to write a note to the teacher and to return it to me. I took each card and attached it to a long stick and stuck it into a styrofoam base in a flower pot to make it look like a bouquet of flowers. Them I covered the styrofoam base with jolly ranchers. Wrapped the whole thing with clear cellaphane. I thought it came out nice, we presented it to her with a small gift.
