I posted reasons for on a different thread, so I won't do it again here. Jist is we're surprsing DS and neice and nephew with an impromtu trip to Disney at the end of the month. I'm looking for ideas on how to surprise them.

They think we are going to Hershey Park for 2 days. We will leave on 7/28 to drive and arrive on 7/29.

DS birthday party is on 7/28, planned before this trip. I was thinking of giving him a birthday card that reads:"We are going to Disney now!" He is will be six.

What do you think? Any ideas on sharing the secret?

I surprised my DS by having a scavenger hunt where he went from clue to clue. HE loved it! It was so much fun! Each clue sent him somewhere in the house that he opened. Each had a small token gift that was a clue - example swim goggles.

I would modify it for your son since the unvealing is going to be at a birthday party. Have a huge box wrapped with several smaller boxes inside it. As he opens each box, there is a clue inside -- A Mickey Mouse figure, coloring book, DVD, etc. Make sure when you are near the end to have one box contain three small boxes (one for your son, one for your niece and one for your nephew) to share with them that they get to go to!!! In it I would put a map of Florida with Orlando circled. Since they are older and with all the previous clues, they should be able to get the idea!

Have fun! :dance3:

We surprised DD with her first Disney trip last year by having Tinkerbell come to our house! When she woke up the morning, "Tink" had spread Pixie dust throughout the house (starting from the window and leading a trail to a basket of gifts). In the gift basket was stuff for the plane and the trip. There was also a letter from Tink (I made it like a old burned treasure map) telling her that because she's been such a good girl, Tink would like to invite her to WDW. DD was almost 3 at the time so this was age appropriate. Not sure how old your DS and DN are so this might not work for your situation.

Hi there,

So many good ideas. I love the ideas about the pixie dust and different boxes but what about adding a road trip game to make it interesting.

Here is my 2 cents. How about having pixie dust sprinkled outside of the car. Act like you don't know who might have done it... maybe a fairy excited to see the kids, ask "Do you kids think there are fairies at Hershey...hmmm I thought there was just chocolate" Then how about putting the 'We're going to WDW' on a small present tag inside the smallest box, add 10 other boxes around it with different clues and only let the the kids open one when they reach a goal. For example, make a list of different license plates they are likely to see on your way and let them open 1 box for each plate. The search will keep them occupied and talking about the clues will help too. As for the clues, I'd make the first few a little vague otherwise there won't be any build up of excitement but not too hard or they'll get bored. Maybe some names that could be anyone at first like "Pirates", "Star Wars" , "Buzz Lightyear" then some photos of rides and then some figures.

:thumbsup2 Have soooo much fun:thumbsup2

We did a treasure hunt. I had clues placed around the house and the kids followed the clues to the treasure. They had too much fun with it! We just told them on Monday and we leave on the 14th. They can't stop talking about it. However you decide to do it, have fun!

These ideas are great. My neice is 16, nephew is 12.... They won't buy the fairy dust....:My son on the other hand would totally love it.
