Ideas for our first night?

I would do dinner in one of the resorts or DTD. I wouldn't waste a ticket on a couple of hours when you will most likely be tired from traveling anyway. Maybe do California Grill and time it to see the fireworks at Magic Kingdom (if they have them that night). They pipe the music in and from what I have read it is a wonderful experience.

YES, That is a wonderful experience, and a wonderful idea I might add.
I ditto that. It's really beautiful from that vantage point. And after that maybe just relax and get a drink somewhere and call it a night.
