Hi Danauk,
How thoughtful of you to begin with! Whatever you buy them I am sure will be the right thing and will be well received and appreciated. That being said, let me share with you some of the delightful items sent to me by my British friends.
I was ready to type, "one of my favorite things is ..." but honestly, I love all of these things -- so here goes --(in no particular order - LOL):
1. Tea towels (kitchen towels from different places): I have even pressed and starched my favorite one and it is hanging in my kitchen looking very pretty
2. Christmas placemats/napkins -- they are incredibly gorgeous and we don't have things like that in the US - the sizes are so different that they are so unique. You probably take them for granted, but they're real conversation starters here
3. Books - might be heavy, but I loved them!
4. Teddy bear with a soccer shirt from one of the British teams.
5. Key chains (my Scottish cousin gave me one with heather in it - gorgeous)
6. Depending on how well you know them and their sense of humor, my dear friend Julie Armstrong took a chance and sent me Vicar of Dibley DVDs! I'm hooked - and they've never been on BBCA to the best of my knowledge, so this was just wonderful.
7. Any British t shirt - especially for the kids
8. British pins from the
Disney Store that we don't have here.
I guess the common theme is -- of course -- that they are all British items! So you can see where your initial idea of "typically British" is spot on!
Isn't it wonderful making such great friends over the Dis boards and then meeting them???
Have a great time in DL
Aloha,
Lorraine
