Driving from PA down to WDW next weekend. Wanted to find out if anyone has any suggestions along the I-95 past South Carolina.

I know from Savannah, it should just be another 4.5 hours to WDW but from Canada to family in PA to Savannah, we would have already been driving 19.5 hours so would love to sleep the first night then continue bright and early the next day for another 4.5 hours to final destination - WDW!

Thanks everyone! Will be dancing the single-digit dance soon....:cool1:

Last spring we stopped over at Cambria Suites. It was a very new hotel, very near the airport. We loved it and booking on-line, I thought it was very reasonable. Good luck.

Stay at Disney Hilton Head....One days points is VERY cheap....we go from Pa to Fl every year and that where we stay at!

Expensive but very nice. Might have some deals. It's within walking distance of nearly everything you'd want to do. Waterfront rooms have a light that comes on when a large ship passes, was surprised how active the port and river were. We did the "Midnight in garden of good and evil" and "Forrest Gump" sights. Nice museum also. Savannah is not far off 95, so easy stop. The river area is a little honky-tonk with open container laws and lots of activity. Off the river in the historic area is a little more genteel and proper. Fun visit for a few days!

Thanks for all the suggestions!

Has anyone ever just slept at the hotel and then had breakfast and gone back to driving right after? That was about all the time that I had to spend at this stopover...

Thanks again everyone!

We plan on staying at the Sleep Inn in Pooler, GA (right off 95 near the Savannah airport). We've never stayed there, but over on the transportation board I've found someone else from Jersey like me that stays there and likes that hotel. :thumbsup2

I wanted somewhere inexpensive since we do plan on only sleeping and grabbing the free breakfast in the morning. I'll be itchin' to get down to WDW! :)

hello fellow canuck! we've driven down several times from toronto area via buffalo, pittsburg etc and usually take 2 nights to get to WDW and stop the 2nd night in St. Augustine or Savannah GA and we usually stop in Savannah on our first night driving back home (we like to meander a little) - anyway, we stay at the Comfort Suites in Savannah by the airport (technically Pooler GA I believe) - nice and clean, indoor pool and by using CAA/AAA and online booking we've had reasonable rates...it's a nice stop and if you get going early you can do a quick drive through downtown Savannah to catch a glimpse...we've gone to Disney's HHI too and loved it but spent 2 nights there - a little too far for a quick night and back on the road in my opinion - would love to have more time there!!! happy trails!!!

Thanks for all the suggestions!

Sure...that is what we will be doing.

We stayed at a hotel right off 95 last time..Country Inn and Suites. They even do a free breakfast. Check on line.

We are driving down in August from Buffalo...plan on stopping in the same area and then driving the short trip the next day..well rested and ready to hit the parks. I started checking hotels already. I think the Choice hotels are the ones I'm looking at right now. Some good deals on line...and I always try to find the ones that offer the free breakfasts.

We drive down from New England overnight and then stop somewhere around Savannah. We only sleep and are at Disney by lunch the next day ready to go. We just pull off the highway and pick a hotel near enough to walk to dinner somewhere. They are all pretty much the same with free wifi and free continental breakfast. We have a AAA card and Entertainment book discount coupons and rooms run about $50-$70.

We usually stay at the Clarion, just off I95 at exit 94 in Georgia. VERY comfortable beds and free breakfast.

We normally stop at exit 94 off of 95. We've stayed in the Hampton and I believe the Fairfield inn. There is a few different restaurants that you can walk to right there. We normally leave NJ at around 2-3 am and then stop there around 4. Let the kids swim and hang out. We get up early have breakfast and off we go. We could probably finish the drive but by the time we get there we would be exhausted and the next day we would be off. This way we are very well rested we make it an adventure and the kids love it.

We might stay at HHI this trip since I have a few extra points to play with. But being we are a family of 5 I am npt sure I want to use that many extra points for a 2 bedroom for one night.

We always stay at the Spring Hill Suites Savannah I-95. I think it's exit 94. Big rooms (2 beds and a couch) and free breakfast. And a couple of restaurants in walking distance so you don't have to drive anywhere if you need dinner.

Thats another one I've stayed at. That one was really nice. There is also a mall not too far from there. We hit up dillards one time when the weather forcast warmed up drastically 3 days before we left and all my kids grew out of their shorts and there was no finding any in NJ in mid Dec.

On two drives now from New Jersey, we have stayed here:

Comfort Suites Savannah North (GA466)
115 Traveler's Way , Port Wentworth, GA, US, 31407
Phone: (912) 965-1445

The hotel is brand new (maybe under two years old by now), free breakfast buffet (make your own waffle, yum, but also some cereals, english muffins, toast, fruit, yogurts...). It is right off 95, like a few hundred feet:-)

We usually drive for about 15 hrs with the stops, sleep at this hotel, and get up and go the next morning. It's a beautiful hotel for that! It's about 5 hours from Lake Buena Vista.

GL have a great drive, how fun!!

I agree, HHI and Savannah are very close. Plus, if you haven't experienced HHI yet you will get to see the resort and experience the special CMs there. Certainly MUCH better than any hotel. If you want to do a little site seeing in Savannah, it is only about 45 minutes from HHI and on the way. You can head out early, and do a quick tour, then head on down to Fla.

Savannah is a great area to do using priceline bidding. There are a number of 2 to 2.5 star option convenient to the interstate. The Richmond Hill area seems to be a particularly good place to stop. We go to HH about EOY or more and usually do this exact thing in reverse. Often I'll get a night somewhere along the way, work the day, then leave from the office and stay over. We like to get to HH early enough for lunch and to organize check in since we often have family coming in.

We always drive to Florida and have been there at least 30 times. We always stay at CHOICE hotels, Sleep Inn, Comfort Suites, mostly. We then get points for future stays. We have stayed at the Comfort Suites in Savannah at Exit 94. It is very nice. In Jan we has a 2 queen beds and fold out couch suite for 62.00 with our Sam's Club discount. There are quite a few restaurants that you can walk to. We also stay in Kingsland Ga, which is at the bottom of the state. There is a nice Comfort Suites, Sleep Inn there also. Sometimes we make it to St. Augustine Golf Village and stay at that Comfort Suites. There is not alot of places to eat at this exit. There is a CaddyShack restaurant at that exit close by. DH, DS and DD are all golfers so they like this and the food is very good and reasonable. Hope you have a great trip. We are heading down in May. We are leaving around noon and hoping to make it to NC, then the next day we will be at Disney by 5 in the evening. Work committments are causing us to cut our drive down by a day.

We like the Hampton Inn at the airport. Very new and nice. Plus it's close to a Longhorn Steakhouse.

Ok so I've always been so scared of priceline. How do I know if I am getting anything close to 95? DH does not like to drive too far off of 95. Is there a way to know how many stars a certain hotel is before you bid so you can get an idea of what you are going to get?
