Idea for Podcast or is there a past Podcast I've missed on "Orlando Food"

Just had Tijuana Flats in Doctor Phillips. Whoa! It surpassed my expectations. For the style of service it was great. Not to mention the Mahi Mahi fish tacos were excellent. Love the hot sauce bar.

Thanks Kevin!

I want to take that hot sauce bar home with me every time. But forget the fish tacos; if you didn't try the Cookie Dough Flautas you have to go back.

Rookie mistakes, sorry. I am planning some return visits. This thing is a beauty:

I've had most of the menu at TF and have never been disappointed in the food regardless of which location I was in (service on the other hand...generally great but I've had a bad experience or two)...love the hot sauce bar...I've become a master of holding several of those little cups in each of my hands at a time

The hottest one is the second hottest I've ever had and honestly, I don't understand the strength of these non-mortals who can consume a full cup of that on any of their food. :rotfl:

and you have to love the way they rate the sauces with happy face through dead face...while I love the hot stuff I rarely use it on my actual food and use it on the chips instead...the entrees are too good to be masked by sauce that over powers the fresh taste

Same here. Always test the sauces with chips. The bad news, La Hacienda followed Tijuana and they compare in no way to TF.

I'll be in the World the first week of December and am looking for off site places to get a good breakfast.

First Watch is good and near WDW.

Keke's is also good, but a bit further.

Both have multiple locations.

A First Watch franchise recently opened next to our local Publix. For some reason, until Kevin's post, I honestly thought it was a day care. :confused3 Yes, I know the logo is of the sun rising over a fork.

I now have somewhere to go for lunch without worrying that I will be mistaken for a creepy old man. ;)

Kevin thanks for the suggestions. We looked at the menus on-line and they both sound good and reasonably priced. See you at the DAP.

Not doing 4Rivers today but, went to Ravenous Pig. It's good but, if the food quality is the same at sister restaurant at Cask & Larder.... I think I prefer that menu. The Burger meat was great but the bun lacked. The deviled eggs, Pretzel and Charcuterie board were fantastic.

Honestly, if you go to RP it's probably better to try the "Starters" than get the other stuff IMHO. I'd definitely suggest it for a meal.

I can't wait until you describe your experience at 4Rivers. Glad you're enjoying The City Beautiful!

Yeah, I meant to hit there but everytime I am at food & wine I hit a wall and have to go back and make sure I try what I planned on eating. Not to mention I got a bit of a cold Tuesday and just now have drugged myself up enough to feel motivated to get going again. Such is life.

So far, Tijuana Flats was my favorite of the local suggestions. Ravenous Pig was just hyped so much to be on the level of some of the Chicago and Nashville places I eat on the regular and it wasn't in the league of those cities, IMHO. On the flip side, Orlando has a killer Walgreens near Downtown Disney (ugh, Afrin shots here I come).

OH MY :thumbsup2 4Rivers had their game face on. I don't know if it's I had not eaten and just ran the 5k or because I sampled so much but, I love this place:

We ate WAAAAAY too much for 3 people but, we split 2 plates:
Burnt Ends
Brisket
Texas Sausage and
Pulled Pork.

Next time, just Burnt Ends would be fine with me, soooo good.

Sides: Cornbread Salad (Good), Fried Pickles (Good but, waste of time for what we had), Potato Salad (Good but, also not worth wasting stomach space), Sweet Potato Casserole (Holy Mother of All That is Good), Bread Pudding (Oh Wow) and Baked Cheese Grits (Very Good).

My next meal will be Brisket, Sweet Potato, Bread Budding and Cheese Grits.

We also, got 5 cupcakes (2 friends are running Wine and Dine so, they didn't join us. They will get a sweet treat). SOOO Good. I really liked this place. Not the best BBQ ever but, the best I've had in Florida.

I'll be back in 10 days.

Plans on the local front?

Return trips to 4 Rivers and Tijuana Flats for the Cookie Dough Flautas!

The Catfish Place and Bull and Bear have to be on the agenda. Bumping thread, just in case there are new local establishments to hit.

This partially went to twitter. I asked Kevin a question and got this response:

My tweet: On the boards you gave me a ton of great local eats places. Now I need the best Seafood (Crab Legs) place in Orlando. TIA.
