I haven't been around much lately - just too many things on my plate. I know I've missed lots of things that have happened and feel a bit guilty posting my own problems here. The last several months havent' been good. My father, who's been sick for several years, got worse. I went to visit in May and he was ok but he had really deteriorated from the last time I was there. He had alzheimers, lung cancer and several other chronic conditions.
Then my baby, Phoebe, our miniature dachsund, developed a pinched nerve. It was getting better and we were due to leave for our South Dakota/Black Hills vacation. Medication wasn't helping, rest, nothing. We took her to an animal chiropractor and she started improving.
On the way to SD, mom called and said the hospice was now helping and we all know what that means. There wasn't anything we could do so we went on our vacation but talked to her everyday. On our way home, he got worse and he died on Father's Day and my mother's birthday. We spent 4 days there and I spoke at the funeral in order to bring some closure to my relationship with my father.
Back to Phoebe. The day we left for PA for the funeral, Phoebe threw up. Fed her baby food and rice, she seemed better. We left her with the dog sitter and she said she was ok all week, until we got home. She started throwing up again but no food/water, then baby food/rice and she seemed ok. She seemed to feel good. Several days go by, threw up again and we called the vet. Took her in. They diagnoised pancreatitis and admitted her to their animal hospital. We were rear-ended on the home from the vet by someone who we think was on her cell phone and didn't see our turn signal or notice us stopped in a turn lane. Not a good day.
She didn't get better so they thought an abcesses pancrea. Got better for a day then down hill. They now think she had pancreatic cancer. We had to put her to sleep yesterday. She was 10 and such a sweetheart. She followed me everywhere and sat with me every night whether I was reading, watching tv or crafting. I miss her so much.

So I wish I could do over the last few months.

You certainly have had more than your share of heartache this year. Phoebe was beautiful. I can imagine what a huge loss this is.
