Ice cream for breakfast?

I'll finally be at the World on my birthday (can't wait!), but a birthday tradition for the last 30-some odd years has been ice cream for breakfast on my birthday (Mom is a lot of fun... When I was little, she figured hey - cake & ice cream for breakfast was about as nutritious as a bowl of cereal. :) And birthdays have always been special.).

Any where in the World I can do that?

At 1900 Park Fare there's a soft serve machine. You'll likely also be given a cupcake for your birthday. You can obviously get other foods to go with this as well (I find that if I don't balance my carbs with fat and protein I feel sick all day) since it's a full buffet. You'll also get the character experience. This is a fun place for a birthday because the Mad Hatter will sometimes play up the birthday/unbirthday idea.

If all you want is ice cream, you can probably get some at your resort. At the Polynesian they have the self-serve Dole Whips. I would think that any resort that has an ice cream counter could scoop some for you at breakfast even though technically I would think ice cream counters would start serving at lunch. You can get Mickey ice creams from the freezers in food courts.

How about a Mickey bar? You can get them in lots of places.

Where will you be staying?

Which park will you be going to that morning?

Why has this website just slowed to a crawl? (Sorry, that won't help us help you. Just venting.)

That sounds too fun....What a wonderful memory your Mom created for you! And obviously an important one to you. Love it. :thumbsup2

Why does it have to be just on your birthday? I often breakfast on an ice cream sandwich at Main Street Bakery. Parents have given me a hard time(in jest I think) for doing this in front of their kids. Best breakfast ever. BTW, it's about 8 ounces of ice cream jammed between 2 chocolate chip cookies. Ok, who wants to bring me back one NOW!:cloud9:

You might pay a premium for it, but I like to think along the lines of this philosphy- "It's Disney- and they can do anything- if you ask." I don't know where you're staying, but I'm sure guest services could arrange something with room service to have a fabulous ice cream sundae delivered to your room on your bday morning for your breakfast.

I second this. The ice cream sandwiches from the Main Street Bakery are amazing. Huge cookies (and you can mix and match between chocolate chip, sugar w/ sprinkles, and oatmeal), about 3 large scoops of ice cream, and a $4 is an absolute steal! Plus you can get it to go and eat it where ever you want. A bench in the hub, an outdoor table at Cosmic Ray's overlooking the castle, or by your favorite ride would make a nice memory.

OFF TOPIC...The day I passed my boards to become a nurse I was SO EXCITED I let my kids have ice cream for breakfast, they still talk about it, I wish I would have thought to let my kids have ice cream for their breakfast on their bday, is it too late to start the tradition? they are 11 and 8

I won't be staying onsite - but I'm OK with that, as long as I get to be at the World. :)

I'll definitely be in the Magic Kingdom that day... will have to check out the Main Street Bakery if they have ice cream sandwiches that early!

I get funny looks when I order a sundae for breakfast at my age, but I don't really care... it's fun. And no, it's never too late to start a tradition in my book! What fun for kids who "know better" to get to do on their special day?! ;)

Thanks so much. :)

I bet if you make a breakfast ADR at Crystal Palace, and mention your birthday tradition, they will provide the ice cream at no cost.

Have a wonderful birthday trip! :cake:
