Hi all!!! we are planning a March wedding. Planning on ceremony in France, brunch reception in Italy & then DP in Lower UK. Going with the Roots for Photography cause of Carrie...LOL

I have fallen in love with an Ian Stuart Dress. Style is Pompadour in either ivory or coral. Problem is, the only places to buy Ian dresses are in CA, CO or NY. I am in IL. Do I buy dress unseen? Has anyone done this and been ok???

I called a bridal salon & was told to come on and try on dresses in a similar style. I got the vibe that this wasn't to order the dress I love but to change my mind on it....KWIM

Another problem is, I am 5,2 1/2. I was told the dress will over power me. My thoughts are, can't shorties like me be all princessed out as well???

Sorry I am babbling but any suggestions are appreciated. TIA! Sarah

Is it this dress?? that dress is amazing!!! I don't think it would be overpowering at all, It would look great

Yes, that is the dress. I love it but am a little nervous to order without trying it on....KWIM

I am also unsure if I want it in ivory or the coral if I do order.

Wow! That dress is beautiful! I love it in pink too! I would go to the bridal salon and try on dresses that are that style/similar and then make a decision from there. Who told you the dress would overpower you? The bridal salon that is trying to sell you another dress? I am 2 1/2 inches shorter than you and my dress looks very similar on the top and my dress is as big as that or maybe even bigger and it doesn't overpower me. Good luck!

That is a beautiful dress!!! I love the coral!! :goodvibes

As for ordering...:confused3 ... why not? Just make sure you can return/exchange it if you have problems---OR maybe schedule a trip -- it seems like a lot just to try on a dress, but it is your wedding dress!!

Yes, it was the bridal salon. What dress are you going with?

I cannot return once paid for. So that is why I am a little leary on ordering without trying on.

Can you travel to one of those states that have the dress?

This is my dress:

For my BM's dresses, they couldn't return their dresses once they bought them. BUT, they could exchange them for a different size. Maybe you could find out if your designer has this sort of policy too.

I might take one of the layers of crinoline out but I will see when I try it on again. It was actually the best suited style for me. I tried on some of those slimmer fitting dresses and the lower waisted ones and they made me look shorter! I couldn't have that!

I had a huge princess dress with a 4 hoop skirt under it and I'm only 5'2 on a good day. I think everyone should be able to wear a big dress...when else will you be able too??!!
