Ian Schrager to design new Disneyland and Disney World Hotels

The hotels may not necessarily be onsite and/or operated by Disney. Think Swan/Dolphin.

Wonder if any of them are the original hotels Walt had planned for the Magic Kingdom? There were 3 that were never built that I saw drawings of on another site (the Persian, the Venetian, and the Asian resorts)

Ya, this would be great for Disneyland BUT there is NO room. They do have a ton of cheap pay by the hour hotels near by they need to get rid of though.

I would love to see WDW to build the Asian hotel in the AK Resort Area. As the AKL parallels AK African area, a such hotel may be related to the other AK major land, Asia. There is a lot of room on the east side of AK to build a new resort.

Flamingo crossing is already being developed by Marriott

The article does say that three of his hotels, one in Miami, in London and the other in Istanbul, are in partnership with Marriott. Perhaps this will be also.

Someone brought up on this same topic on wdwmagic that this doesn't confirm he is working with disney but rather seems like he would like to work with disney developing new hotels. I don't think he will be making any new ones anytime soon in disney at least.

Guilty as charged! I wanted to see what the greats had to say. Spirit gave it his typically cynical thumbs down, but that's exactly what I what I was looking for. He basically said the claims were completely ridiculous. I don't believe he wanted his statement on "just because he wants to work at WDW and DL" to be taken seriously. It was just another way to say he didn't like the rumor.
