So sorry to hear about your loss of sight. It has to be a terribly scary thing to go through. My dad has diabetes and I always know it is a possibility.

Keep up the fight, though. "Seeing" things through someone else's eyes and words can also be something special, too. WDW will be there when you are ready to venture out for a new adventure. I absolutely adore your fighting spirit and your determination. You will be in my thoughts and prayers. Please let us know what you hear from Disney. We will be anxiously waiting for your post.

Kitty don't let the loss of your site keep you from WDW. I have a student whose Mom is blind from diabetes and she goes and enjoys herself through his descriptions. I alsi have a friend who is deaf-blind who went on her honeymoon and was able to enjoy it through her husband's and the interpreters descripptions

But, like "Talking Hands", Disney does not end simply because one cannot see or hear........

Disney is in our hearts, in our minds, and in our memories. Disney should correct the horrific treatment you have received. It is not only the RIGHT thing to do and the JUST thing to do, it IS THE DISNEY THING TO DO!

You should go to WDW and through the words and descriptions by the CM - "SEE" Disney in your mind's eye.

God Bless you, or whomever you believe, you will see it all again, and more clearly than you ever have before...........

My mother is in the EXACT same situation as you. She has diabetes and lost her sight completely in her left eye and was about to lose all of it in the right when they performed a surgery which involved putting a shunt to control the pressure behind her eye...this surgery only saved about 5 percent of her sight in the right eye. Not much - but better then nothing.

The reason that I am replying to your post is; although I am very sorry to hear that you have lost this battle - I still think that you can visit WDW again...

I have convinced my mother to come with us for our trip to WDW in May 2003. She doesn't need to *see* the castle to know its there (like yourself - she has seen it a few dozen times over the years...)

You see - WDW is NOT just visual. My mother can still smell the chocolate chip cookies from Main Street Bakery, feel the warmth of the Florida sun, taste the foods from around the world at Epcot and enjoy such attractions as: Alien Encounter/Space Mountain/Rock n Roller coaster and Tower of Terror just as much as a sighted person can. Furthermore; she can enjoy ANY WDW attraction that has narration such as Spaceship Earth and the Walt Disney Railroad.

My mother can still enjoy the sound of "Please stand clear of the doors" - there are SO many things that make WDW so magical - you can *see* those little things ...like the gun powder smell in Pirates of the Carribean...or the *fresh* smell at the Polyneisian, or to hear someone page Mr. Tom Morrow on the Tomorrowland Transit Authority...

I send you pixie dust and prayers that you may have the strength to visit WDW once again without your sight - as I assure you that you will not be disappointed...God Bless...
