Hi.... we check into the boardwalk this coming sunday.... my doctor filled out a handicapped placard form for me due to the fact that I have fibromyalgia....

the bad news is I wont have it in time for my trip. the doctors office does not have temporary ones, i went to our local senators office in hopes of getting one....

and i really do not want to pay the daily fee for valet parking... alot of our dinner reservations are at other resorts....i called the boardwalk directly and they told me they will not honor anything but the placard....

i do have a copy of the certified request form that was sent to Harrisburg.... has any one else had a situation like this???:confused3

I had a temporary one and this is how we did it, but in SC so PA might be different. My doctor completed a form and we took it to the Dept of Motor Vehicles and they processed it.

If that is not an option, I would put it back on your MD and ask them what to do or if THEY have a way of getting some temporary ones from another office. Many offices share things like that and he or she might have a fellow colleague in another practice who might have one.

Good luck! Diane :thumbsup2

uuggghhh.... i called the dmv and unless i drive to the state capital dmv with an original they will not give it to me.... i leave thursday am... and this is just not a possibility.... one ... it takes almost two hours to get there... and i would have to get a new form and start the process all over again with doctor/specialist completing etc...

feeling very frustrated....:scared1:

Can you take Disney Transportation to your dinner reservations? The buses and monorail get you much close then the handicapped parking does and just about as close as the valet parking. We have used the valet parking a handful of times and for us it's more a hassle to hop into a hot car which is barely cool by the time you get where you are going and then have to wait for the valet to get it back to you when you are done for the night. We'd much rather do buses, monorails and boats.

Just a different perspective. I hope you have a good trip!

You said in your post that "we check into the boardwalk this coming sunday." Could your travel companion drop you off at the main lobby, and you have a seat on a bench? Meanwhile your companion could park the car in a regular spot. When leaving, you could again wait at the main lobby on a bench, while your companion gets the car and drives it to the hotel entrance to pick you up. Would this work for you?

Both of these ideas will definetely work. Having suffered with Fibro for a very long time, DH will drop me off and park while I check us in. Plus it gives me the time to walk slowly and enjoy the grounds of the hotel.

Same with parking at the parks, they have trams if you are farther out. You will be fine without your HCP. Enjoy your trip.
