I wonder where the rich and famous stay.

I remember seeing a story about the Fantsy's maiden voyage and Neil Patrick Harris was on it talking about how great DCL is. So was Mariah Carey. It got me thinking about whether famous people go on these trips with "regular folk" or if Disney has special VIP cruises for them so they don't have to mingle with the hoi polloi. Or is there a secret deck that they use that can only be accessed via a gold or platinum key card? Hmmmm...

NPH was in one of the suites on the Fantasy on one of his trips, according to CMs we spoke to. They said he was very gracious, would talk to people when they wanted to talk to him, and would nod and acknowledge people when they did the same, but that most people left him, his husband, their kids and family alone like they were just another family on vacation, which is exactly what they are.

Its very easy for the rich and famous to vacation with "regular folk" Most rich and famous have a "public look" or trademark ie a female celeb may always wear her hair in a certain style and always wear makeup in a certain way. Then in her regular day to day life with family , out of the public eye, she wears her hair in a different way. People may still recognise her but because she doesn't look the way they associate with her, she blends in and people don't realise she who she is. Or they may a different style of clothes or not have an army of security personnel around them.

On a cruise ship for example, there will always be a suites, which may have private dining areas. They may also have all sorts of private services, eg a private bar, or a shopping service or private tours and excursions in various ports. They will probably have a special check in area and luggage service as well.

Its the same on flights, rich and famous celebs fly on regular commercial flights but us regular folk never see them. They will have a separate check in area, they may have a special boarding area, they may board last and get off first, they may go directly out of the airport without collecting their luggage, which will be delivered separately to their hotel. For international travel, the passport check person may even get on the plane and check passports before the rich and famous person even leaves the plane.

Let me start with- I love NPH. His gracious and kind nature are what makes me enjoy him so much. Badpinktink was right on with all she mentioned with luggage and such. We even travel that way now, as there are deals to be found with pre-shipping luggage.
Imagine what it's like- people see you and they have a familiarity with you (so they think) but you have no idea about them. They initiate conversation with that same familiarity. I recall, MANY years ago, when Richard Gere came into the pool/hot tub with his mom. There was no one else in the pool area. He wore his sunglasses the whole time (at an indoor pool in his mom's hometown). I felt for him that it would be difficult to be constantly approached and not left alone. I just went about my duties as lifeguard and left him and his mom alone. He did look great, though, so I was doing some glancing his way!

people dont realise the holdups when everyone is on the plane yet the cabin crew dont close the door may be because a famous celeb has pre arranged to board last. And the same when a plane lands, that the delay after the doors open may be because a famous person is getting off first, before the regular folk.

NPH was on the inaugral SWDAS just a short month and a bit ago. Not sure what kind of room his family had but they were in concierge. He attended some meals in the MDR, but not all. He was spotted eating at Cananas, and at the pool with his kids. They were left very much to themselves. I imagine some approached him but the vast majority realized it was a vacation for his family just as much as it was for their family as well. They probably had some special treatment and on Twitter he referred to having his own butler for the trip lol. They had seats roped off for them at the shows but he did go get their own popcorn before it started. It was quite fun knowing he was there, and knowing he just wanted to give his kids an awesome vacation.

We were on the NCL Breakaway sitting by the pool in the Haven section when I realized Donny Osmond and his entire family (wife, children, grandchildren) were sitting by the pool as well. He was very low-key and no one bothered him or his family. I never saw him in the public areas on the ship (Haven has it's own shallow pool, hot tubs, sun deck and restaurant), so it's quite possibly he stayed in that area the whole time.

We were on the Fantasys Maiden, with several higher ups from Disney and Larry the Cable Guy and a few other celebrities. I'm pretty sure they were in concierge. Most of the celebs that we encountered couldn't have been nicer. We met John Lasseter several times while he was heading to dinner, Joe Lanziero, who basically had a lot to do with the interior designs of the Dream class, Karl Holtz, I cant think of her name, but she was the singing voice of Mulan, we met her in an elevator. For the most part, you would never know they were there, and the vast majority of people left them to themselves.

We were on the Disney Magic with Jodi Benson. She did a concert (prearranged) about half way through the trip. After that we realized that her family and their friends were seated very close to us in the dining room. We also saw her several times around the ship and her family was also on one of our excursions. For the excursion she wore her hair in a ponytail with a baseball camp. It was a very practical look for the beach, but few people would have recognized her if they didn't know who she was. I suspect this is true of most celebrities. They can blend in when and if they want to.
