I Wonder if Disney Will Get Mad if We Disassemble the Furniture. Sept/Oct 2024 TR! (Updated 4/18!)

These days you have to take things to the ups store to ship from there, and it's crazy expensive, so I decided to just bring it home in my luggage.
WHAT??? Clearly, it's been a minute since I had to do that. You can't ship from the store anymore???? Yet another good reason for me to keep driving I guess.

Yeah, it's a pretty new change, think it happened in the last year or two. You can still ship from inside the parks, but from Disney Springs they make you go to the ups store.

Day 7, Part 2: Wine Bar George!

We last left off making our way over to Wine Bar George!

We got there about 30 minutes early for our reservation, but fortunately they could seat us right away. Wahoo!

We were brought upstairs to our table and started to peruse the menu. For lunch mom got the salad and the lamb chops, and I got the mac n cheese bites and the fried gnocchi. I had wanted to get the scallops, but sadly they had just removed them from the menu.

To drink, mom wanted to get a chianti, but I couldn’t find a single one on the wine list which was shocking. So we asked our server, and he informed us that there was a whole section of chianti’s, it was under Sangiovese, which color us surprised, I had no idea that was the same thing as chianti! (although a quick google search says that while chiantis are usually Sangiovese, they’re not always).

We ended up ordering a bottle of that to split.

Soon after our wine and food were brought out.

I couldn’t believe the size of my moms salad! It was from the small bites menu, but was massive!

I think my mom won with the food here. While I love the mac n cheese bites, the fried gnocchi was just ok, it was super heavy and oily and hard to finish. My moms salad and lamb were both amazing.

We had a nice relaxing meal, it took a while to get through all that food and wine!

Eventually we wrapped up and headed out. We decided to take the bus, which I hate from DS. The YC/BC/BW bus feels so far away (it’s really midway through all the buses), and the wait always seems to take forever.

Fortunately, today the wait wasn’t too horrible, about 15 minutes.

When we got back to the YC we really wanted to go for a swim, especially since the previous few days whenever we wanted to swim a storm popped up so the pools closed. We were hoping since we were there earlier today that we’d beat the 2:30-3:00 storms that had been hitting this week. Sadly, luck was not on our side. Even though we made it down to the pool around 1:30, the storms came in early this day, so just as we got there, they closed the pools. :(

Since we had planned to spend the afternoon at the pool, we kept heading down and checking every 30-45 minutes, but it remained closed due to the storms nearby. We actually had tried to book a cabana this day, but they were fully booked by the time we called (shocked we couldn't get it at 60+7, or 60+9 this time!), but in retrospect it worked out for the best since the pool ended up being closed for most of the day due to the storms in the area!

Finally at 4 we gave up on waiting and changed out of our swimsuits and into our park clothes.

Next up: More Food Booths!

I hear a lot of good things about Wine Bar George. The salad does look good.

We always seem to "just miss" the YC/BC/BW bus when we are returning from DS. At least they seem to come pretty regularly.
When we got back to the YC we really wanted to go for a swim, especially since the previous few days whenever we wanted to swim a storm popped up so the pools closed.
The summer storms are really annoying. Sometimes the quiet pools remain open.

Arrggg!!! When you want to laze by the pool but the weather has other ideas. I fully felt the sadness when you said you changed out of your swim suit.

Your food from Wine Bar George looks quite good! The lamb chop in particular (I love lamb!) looks delicious.

I’ve also yet to try Gideon’s cookies, likely because I tend to skip Disney Springs. I’m not a shopper, so other than the dining, DS doesn’t have much appeal to me. Honestly, the Summer House on the Lake cookies look better to me, but I’d be willing to try both!

It’s too bad you missed out on relaxing by the pool. The regular afternoon storms sure get in the way of pool time!

Wine Bar George is one of our favorites, we always get some solid meals there. Plus the wine selection is impressive!

Yeah, we normally have horrible luck with the bus from DS. At least this time the wait was short!

They really are, we've never had such bad luck with the timing than this trip. It seemed every single time we went to the pool, a storm would immediately pop up!

Yeah, we were pretty sad about that. At least we didn't have the cabana this day!

It was really good, well except for the fried gnocchi, that was just ok. We really love Wine Bar George, it has become one of our regular places to eat down there.

They were good, but not the best cookies I've had. You sound like my mom, she doesn't enjoy shopping either, but fortunately for me she agrees to go to appease me and make the trip over to DS on some trips!

Yeah, I was mostly annoyed that the storms had been consistently around 3 all trip, until of course the day we decided to go down to the pool a few hours earlier. :rotfl2: Oh well, we would eventually make it into the pool later!

Day 7, Part 3: More Food Booths!

We last left off getting ready to head out for the afternoon. This time we were making our way back to Epcot!

When we got to the IG we were shocked at the crowds, it looked like rope drop! It took a while to get through security and into the park.

Our first stop once in the park was France! The line for the food booth was shockingly short, so we couldn’t pass it up!

Here we both got the beef borguignon, mom got the crème brulee, and I got the gin cocktail.

All this food was amazing!

Since we were in France, we decided to do some shopping. We headed back to the cart in the back with all the Ratatouille merchandise where we had seen a shirt earlier in the week mom wanted to get. We also looked at possible gifts for my aunt there as well.

We ended up picking up the Remy shirt for my mom, then headed into the main store in France to do some more shopping. Mom ended up buying her sister another small gift in there.

After wrapping up in France, we made our way towards the front of the park in search of more food!

We ended up stopping at Forrest and Field where I got the chili and a Pinotage.

This was ok, not bad, but not my favorite dish from the festival.

My mom was getting pretty overheated at that point, so we decided to head over to our DAS for FEA. We ended up in the back row, so not great pictures this time around!

It was a fun ride, and a really nice break from the heat!

By the time we wrapped up, we were into the return time for our LL at Guardians so made our way there.

Once again we got I ran as the song. Still no Disco, whomp whomp.

Next Up: Stop Trying to Break into Our Room!

Day 7, Part 4: Stop Trying to Break into Our Room!

We last left off riding Guardians in Epcot. At that point we were both hot and tired, so decided to make our way out.

We swung by some photopass photographers on the way out!

While on the way out my mom had a brilliant idea, pick up some coffee to have the following morning! So we swung by the Joffereys by Canada on the way out and we each got the special food and wine cold brew.

Once back at the YC we saw the pool was finally open, so ran upstairs to put our stuff away, change, and made our way back down to the pool.

We had a great time cooling off. At one point I headed up to the 18+ hottub, and when I got up there, there were three very clearly not 18 year old kids in there. They looked to be maybe 13/14, and the look of terror on their face when I showed up was hilarious. But they were just sitting there quietly so I wasn’t going to go rat them out. But it was pretty funny how worried they looked!

Around 8:30 we were pretty waterlogged, so decided to head upstairs to enjoy some wine and chocolate out on the balcony.

It was so gorgeous out there!

Eventually, around 10, we headed in to watch some tv and call it a night.

Well, we thought we would call it a night. Apparently new neighbors had moved in next door that day, the previous people had been super quiet, we only heard them when we were out on the balcony at the same time, but these new people were super loud. We got back into the room to hear all this screaming from next door. Not like anger screaming, just excited screaming, but it was annoying loud, especially after 10pm.

But then it got worse. So we had a connecting door with this room, and at one point we could hear the kids come open the door on their side. They then started trying to open the door on our side of the room like they were trying to get in. But it was clearly just kids doing this at that point so I didn’t think much of it, I had when we arrived made sure our side was locked.

Well, I guess this family had never stayed in a room with a connecting door before and thought that our room was part of theirs since after a few minutes of the kids trying to open our door, the adults started too. And not just jiggling the lock, they started to body slam the door to get it open, like the entire door moved. It was definitely worrisome! So after them slamming into the door a few times I had enough and went over and pounded on the door so they would be aware that there were people next door and it wasn’t their room!

Amazingly this worked, not only did they stop trying to break into our room, but they got super quiet after that. Still, what on earth, there are some really odd people who visit Disney!

Next up: Instant Karma!

Oh my gosh, the people trying to open the door would scare the heck out of me. They sound like a group of people who don't stay in hotels often.

Did those people think their room had like a secret bonus room they weren’t told about? WTH? Glad they finally shut up and stopped trying to break the door down.

SAB is beautiful at night. It is very relaxing, too. :)

These people were clearly not familiar with connecting doors. I was surprised when the adults started to pound on the door, too.

Oh my gosh - Not only would I have pounded on the door, I probably would have yelled something very UN-Disney, and then called the front desk to have them do something as well. I realize how fortunate I am to travel as much as I do for both work and fun but who doesn't know what a connecting door is? Kids, sure but adults????

Now, I clearly have to go through this one more time with you - repeat after me - When. In. France. We. Drink. Grand. Mariner. Slushies. Altogether now - When in France we drink Grand Mariner Slushies. I mean, you can get an ADDITIONAL cocktail, but the slushie is a must.:drinking1

Right? I've never had anything like this happen before, we assumed they just had no idea what a connecting room is, but it was still scary!

Yeah, maybe they thought they were upgraded to a suite? No idea, it was so weird and scary!

It really is. Back when we first started staying at the YC/BC in the 90s we would swim almost every single night, although back then it was more for my dad since he hates being out in the sun. These days we don't do it much, but when we do I'm reminded how amazing it is at night, especially when you time it right to see the fireworks from the pool!
These people were clearly not familiar with connecting doors. I was surprised when the adults started to pound on the door, too.
Yeah, when it was just the kids we didn't really care, but it was shocking when the adults joined in! Glad they stopped after I banged on the door!

Haha, I would have said something as well if my mom wasn't there. No matter how old I get I still can't say un-Disney things in front of her. :rotfl2:

Haha, I'm jotting it down in my phone so we remember this next trip!

Your food from France looks very good. Your swim also sounds delightful.

However, good grief with those people next door! I'm glad they quieted down, but they should've known better than to be loud after 10:00pm in a hotel room. I realize that connecting rooms are less common these days (I've tried to book them at non-Disney hotels and they're surprisingly hard to find!), but the adults should've called the front desk rather than body slam the door. :sad2:
