I just got a pin card in the mail. The same one everyone talks about for 8/2-9/27. They already have free dining for some of these dates. But if they are sending this out, they must need more people to come. I've gotten 2 or 3 postcards over the last couple of months.. Just speculating.

Doubt it, first quarter profits were up about 15% if I remember correctly and they are projecting 97% occupancy for the entire summer. Not exactly what I would call hurting. ;) They may just be hedging their bets for a slow down.
Just read that their 2nd quarter profits were up 22% from last year.

Sept is one of, if not the, slowest month...

with gas prices the way they are, they just want to lure you into the park!

I'm curious to see how Labor Day trips are effected by the gas hike!

I just wondered because suddenly I am getting a new postcard offering a "special" deal just about once a month. I never got them before.

Now I'm jealous!!! We go to WDW every single year and the only discounts we have ever got we a bounce back offer for free dining and last year a 40% off PIN code.

If they sent me one a month, I'd be making more than one trip this year.

I have gotten more this year than any other year as well... Here's hoping for an even BIGGER discount for early December!! :santa:

Wish they would send one my way. In the past 10 years we have recieved ONE postcard and that was over 5 years ago. I have 3 trips scheduled for the rest of the year and I only have AAA rate. Hopefully when DD is doing the college program we will be able to get a better rate. I had planned on getting an AP when we go in August.

Me Too... I was wondering the same as the OP.

No discount offers for us :sad2:, Hope you can use one of your special deals. I just received a Disney email that said Special Offer From Disney. I was SO EXCITED. Turned out to be for Disney DVD's. Oh well, I am going to Disney. Yeah :cool1: :cool1:

My mom got the current PIN ($59.00 for a value) a couple of days ago also. We already have free dining for Sept 6th-14th at PORS, so I called to see if this PIN could beat it and was told no, not even if we upgraded to a Deluxe. I had the CM check prices anyway, and lo and behold, the only resorts showing up for our dates are a Courtyard View at WL and a Standard View at AKL. Not a single Value or even a Moderate was available for our dates using this PIN. However, the PIN itself said $59.00/night for select value resorts. Only Deluxes were available though.:confused3

I go to WDW 3-5 times a year and have never received a PIN. My 74 y/o mom has been three times in her life (only when I've taken her and it's my name, as the one making the ressie). She lives with me, so it's also my address.

Were the rates 30% off for the deluxes also?

What's your secret?? We've gone 5 times, 4 of those in the last 4 years, and we've never gotten ONE!!

We are not Disney people. We went when the boys were little (2 and 4..now 13 and 11 with a 6yo sister) This will be our only family trip. We like camping in national parks. I'll probably disappear from this board after I post a trip report in October. I guess maybe they want to make us Disney people, but the prices would have to lower a ton. Besides, I like the outdoors and hiking with no crowds as opposed to nonstop stimulation.

Just got back and it was pretty packed at Disney. Both the Yacht and Beach clubs were at 100% capacity so things must be going okay for them.

We also recieved the most recent postcard this past weekend 59 a night at a value resort, we have recieved about 2-3 postcards within the past year. I've read that if you sign up for the Disney trip planning DVD you may get on to the list, so I tried it, I got the DVD last summer, and have also registered for any contests that appear on the Disney website. It seems to have worked for us!!

Although, My mother who also only visits with us, under our name, receives postcards occasionally as well!

It seems a mystery!

We got one today in the mail to. When i say we I mean my BF who went to WDW 1 time last year w/ me and hasn't been obsessing over how to get a pin code for 6 years like I have!!! It figures he would get it,just like my ex did about 4 months after we split up. That's how my luck is but oh well I got free dining anyway so I don't care (this time)

BTW for those wondering how to get one it has become more of a mystery to me. DBF is not in the disney system to get a dvd or even registered online. only thing they have of him was his name on my itinerary last year and maybe his cc on file. We did do one of the marketing research things at Epcot and he may have given him his email address but the PIN came via mail to my address. :confused3 Even weirder the EX NEVER paid for any of the disney trips, wasn't on any mailling lists, didn't get the video's, etc, again only way they had his name was on my trip reservation. He refused bio-metric finger scans and would not participate in any of the marketing survey's. So maybe all of us that are constantly fishing for a pin by signing up for stuff and getting our name out there have the wrong idea. Seems at least in our 2 cases that they are targeting those who have been to WDW but were not the primary ones plunking down the cash to go but instead secondary people on the reservation.

We got one in DH's name - $165 for studio at Saratoga Springs or Old Key West (says to call for rates at other resorts). He has a Disney credit card, which must be how he got on the list, because all our trips have been in my name.

My DH gets to the mailbox before me, so I know if I ever get a postcard in the mail he will bury it in the bottom of the trash from me!
