I am a member of a local camera club, that is a competing club. Last night we had our monthly competition. I entered a total of 4 images, 2 slides and 2 prints. All four placed, with 2 winning awards, and one was the top award of small print of the month!!!
Mind you I rarely compete in slides and we have only one class (salon) for slides, so I was up against some pretty good photographers. I was thrilled to get an honorable mention(HM), and a merit award.. In the print division, I entered a macro shot of pencils on a mirror, which got a HM. I was happy with that, but then.....I got an HM and Top Award for a photo I took in Epcot!!!
I was thrilled. I was hemming and hawing for months about entering it, I liked it one day and didn't the next. With prodding from my mother (BFL here on the DIS) I finally entered it. It was a tight headshot of a entertainer in the African Outpost. Sorry, I won't be posting a copy of the image just yet, as I will be competing with it in other competitions. I can't tell you how thrilled I am. It seems like I have been runner up a lot this year.....90% of the time lossing to a bird shot. Beating out all the birds and winning was nice, but it being a shot taken at Disney was icing on the cake......and it tastes good
