I woke up to the sound of gunshots....

...on Law and Order SVU. I must have dozed off. The last thing I remember is the Captain and the Criminology professor/suspect reliving their past. The next thing I know, there are gunshots and Captain and Professor are on the ground, then walking off like old buddies. What did I miss? Can someone please fill me in?

The professor found who the killer was and kidnapped him and took him to Central Park where he was going to kill him. The Captain was able to talk the professor into throwing down his gun, then the killer grabbed the gun and was going to shoot the professor. The cops then shot the killer.

Sorry if that was all babble - L&O is my favorite show. I get a little 'into' it sometimes!
