I really want a theme park view room at bay lake tower (for cash) for my May stay and check every day but so far no one has dropped it or I’ve missed it. I wish there was a thread like with dining where if you plan to cancel you could coordinate if someone wanted that room

I sometimes feel like 1/2 of my life is spent searching for that perfect
resort reservation! I also hate it when I can get the room category, but
I have to string together three reservations to get the dates I need.

I hear you! We are looking for a week in December and have a 3 day and a 3 day reservation but can't seem to get that 1 day in the middle!

Yes I’ve been endlessly searching. And I couldn’t find one to cover my whole trip so I have one hotel for one night. I see other rooms pop up so I know people cancel, just not what I need lol

ugh that’s so difficult with it in the middle of your trip. I have a one night stay at the end of my trip I couldn’t find a hotel to cover my whole date

I also check the DVC rental board here on DIS, and I've had some successes
with that. I look at the all the DVC rental websites, but I've never found the
dates I want. I am currently looking for December 27-January 1st at GF --
that will keep me busy for a while!

Not all DVC rooms types will show up for cash. BLT TPV is probably one that will be tough, if they even show up at all.

There are times when Disney doesn’t allow one night reservations. Disney Food Blog has reported on this before. I believe they stopped one night sales for a period of time late last year off the top of my head.

Can a thread like the OP is taking about be created or is it against policy? Thoughts?

I think it would be a waste of time. There are probably thousands of people from all over the globe accessing the Disney site at any point in time. The vast majority probably never heard of this forum. Trying to coordinate when you cancel so one individual person can snag that reservation is probably not practical.

It's certainly possible that you're right about this, but people do it for dining reservations with some success.

Not true. I’ve booked that room multiple times. It’s also available for a trip I might book in July. The hotels are scarce for May and with guardian previews made it even worse for availability

It depends how long it takes to go back into the system. With dining reservations it’s pretty immediate and easily can be coordinated. So if it’s the same with the hotel rooms could definitely be done.

Good to know that It shows up as an option. As I said, not all do. At this point, DVC members who have one booked and cancel would have a penalty

I think your only chance is other cash guests who may have one. Good luck!

I think it’s a separate inventory. Only gets converted from points to cash if they use their points outside of Disney. A few two bedrooms have popped up but I don’t need something so big and it’s crazy expensive too

Rooms still available or that become available within 60 days can be moved over for cash bookings as well. It’s called breakage inventory. DVC can also anticipate if a room will be available and pull before the 60 days.

Cash DVC rooms come from three sources..trades like you mention, but also from DVC/DVD booking with their own points, and breakage as described above.

There is no way to know how the DVC room got there. It’s why you see rooms in July..could be for any of those reasons.

DVC can also bring back a cash room for DVC bookings too if it wasn’t based on a trade.
