I heard that WDW AP's used to work for WDW and DL. Does anyone remember those days or is this just a myth? :confused3
Being a West Coaster, this would be so great! ::yes::
I can dream can't I? :rotfl2:

Yes DL does, and it is a bit cheaper than WDW's. However, I think this person would want the convenience of one pass. The problem is WDW AP holders and Dl ones are much different. DL AP holders go much more frequently (on average) than WDW. Thus the ability to make profits on food, gifts, etc. is much higher (keeping the AP prce relatively low).

At the latest prices, a WDW AP is about 6.5 one day tickets. A DL AP is only about 4.7 one day tickets.

Te programs are so different, it would be hard to merge them. I suspect if they did, the price would be not too much different from just buying both (like I did last year!)

You can use WDW passes for admission at DL (as they are more expensive). That's an easier equation than an AP, which you don't know how much someone will use.

Well...its good to know WDW tickets will work in DL. The 2005 10 day passes were so cheap that it'd be worth using one in DL...as long as I was allowed to hop.

I dont see why a pass that would let you in both places would have to cost the sum of the two passes. The real problem would be how to divvy up the pass revenue if someone used it in one location and then in another.

The OP has actually come up with the nucleus of a good marketing idea. "The Ultimate Pass". Vacationers could pay a single greater price for the ability to get into Disney Parks worldwide for one year. I could see this being popular for people who vacation in WDW but live relatively close to one of the other theme parks or plan to travel to that part of the world in the same year. This pass would have to be pricier than the WDW pass but certainly not the cost of the sum of individual AP's in different parks.

I was told, at one time by someone who worked for Disney, that WDW AP's (used to) work at both places, because they were more expensive. But not the other way around.
I wondered if anyone remembers this or if this information is incorrect? I know DL has it's own AP, we buy them every other year! They are now up to $249. $229 if you belong to DVC. I think WDW AP's are a better value!

The current rate for DL Deluxe AP is $229, $209 after the DVC discount. It is good for admission 315 days of the year. On the other days you would have to pay a $30 block out fee.

Comparing the AP to a 3 day PH for an advance purchase price of $149, I think that DL AP is a better value than WDW, but it depends on the nature of your trip. DL really will pencil out after just two trips of 3 days each, as long as one is in the off season when there are no blockout dates.

Of course, before the recent price increase it was an even better deal. Last summer, we went for 4 days for $169 and upgraded to the AP with DVC discount for just $20 more.

We usually go to WDW for one trip of 11 days and never can get the AP to pencil out unless we pushed 2 trips into the same AP year. I can't imagine it would ever break even with only two 3 day trips.

oh I didn't kept the stuff before 91 - but definitely in 91 - both parks were separate.

the annual pass in one didn't work in the other.

the pamplet even mentioned which parks go with each pass.

you know this thing didn't even mention WDW annual pass - it comes from the old Magic Kingdom CLub Price guide. but I know WDW had the annual pass then....

We went during block out dates, so it is cheaper to buy the PAP, than to pay for the block out dates!
Before the current price increase, I think DL was probably a better deal. But, for us, I think WDW is now a better deal. We can fly there for the same money, sometimes less. With our DVC discount ($100-125 off AP) I think makes WDW a better value. I think lodging is less at WDW too, especially since we just bought DVC. But even before that, we always stayed on property at moderates for $79-89/nt. I think there is just more to do at WDW.
About 4 yrs. ago I bought DL AP's for $149. I think they have really gone up, but so has WDW.
We love Disney !:earsboy: Don't get me wrong! I'm not knocking DL! Each park has something that the other does not, so that is why we switch off every other year. We always by AP's, because we stay at least 6 days (DL) (10 WDW) and get 2 trips out of 1 pass. We just bought DVC, so I think we will be going to WDW more now!

That's just a myth. what one can do is use regular WDW tickets at DL but not vice versa. I assumed because WDW tickets are more expensive than DL. Also, it's not a quick and easy process to do.

We just renewed our DS4's DL AP at a brand new whopping cost of $379.00 for renewal!

I am right with the OP in hoping someday they would create the "Ultimate AP" for both parks. I would pay more than a single park, but right now we are putting almost $2500.00 a year into admission only by buying AP's at both parks.
