What a waste! I have been noticing on our last 3 trips, we have not been doing much park hopping. I think I just force myself and my children to go out again in the afternoon to the parks just because we have the "hopper." Well... on our last trip last week, we only park hopped once! We did Epcot in the morning, then later that afternoon, we saw the Little Mermaid show at MGM and that was it!

I won't buy the "hopper" again when we go during summer. It's too hot to go back out and the children are all relaxed and doesn't want to go back out. We do the park early in the morning, then head back to our resort around noonish and then we're done! So the "hopper" is not for us.

Anyone else out there who doesn't park hop or only park hops a few times during their stay?

We have Annual Passes and rarely park hop, unless we want to have dinner at a different park than where we spend the day...but usually we just stay put. I think hopping is a nice option, but I don't think I'd miss it a whole lot if it wasn't available.

We also very rarely hop. We are leaving for the World again on Sunday (YES!!!), and our tickets are not hoppers. We plan to do the same as you. Get up early go to one park, leave around lunch, go back to the resort, swim and nap. We will go back if the kids want to, or just do dinner. We do have ADR's at some Park restaurants for dinner, so we will adjust as needed.

I love to park hop, especially in the summer. I start out with the park that has early EMH, take a break in the afternoon and then go to another park after my break.
This past trip, one day I went to AK in the AM, MGM in the afternoon and then I went to MK to see Wishes.

Or, at least, having the flexibility it provides! Once, we were going to spend most of the day at MK and when we got there, it was shoulder to shoulder people. We just turned around and spent the day between EPCOT and MGM and had a great time! Also, we often spend the day at either MK, AK or MGM and tour EPCOT at night. It prevents things from getting rushed.

I couldn't imagine going without hopping! Almost all visits to Epcot are done late afternoons and evenings - after we have already been elsewhere..
And on my trip in April, I hopped so many places in one day I was actually making myself dizzy.. LOL :flower:

I think this is why Disney created the MYW tickets - so that people who don't like to park hop can have a choice instead of forcing themselves to hop just to justify the cost of a hopper ticket.

DH and I personally can't live without park hopping. We have APs and it's so nice to go to one park in the morning, go back to the resort for the afternoon, then go to another park in the evening. It works really well during the value season when MK closes at 6pm or 7pm, and AK closes at 5pm. We can still go to another park after AK/MK and get some valuable park times.

I also like the fact that we can hop if we change our minds on what park to go to. There have been times when we go to one park, then see that it's too crowded for our liking and then we just hop over to another park after just a hour or two at the first park. If I couldn't do that, I'd probably throw a hissy fit! :teeth:

We do the same thing! Love Epcot, but most of our time spent there is in the afternoon or evening....after spending the morning in another park.

We don't park hop anymore either. We did it once on our last trip, and it just seemed more trouble that it was worth to us. We'd much rather pick on park and stay at that park all day...

I usually park hop when I'm there for just a day or two, but usually when I'm there for a longer trip. I seem to be hopping less and less. Didn't even buy a park hopper for my last trip.

Since I have no idea about our touring style I bought tickets with hopping. As this is our first trip I think I would be driving myself crazy with ADR's and shows if we did not have that option. We also want to do TL and DQ. I like the idea that I can swap plans around in relation to the parks if the weather gets nuts or we find huge crowds. At this point I have read so much that I am having problems keeping straight what rides are in which park. I can see that people who know what they are doing in reguards to Disney may not want or need the expense. Wish I was one of them. More money for souveniers.

We love the Park Hopping feature. We start our mornings in MK, AK or DS and relax in the early afternoon back in the hotel. Then most evenings we head to Epcot and tour the Food & Wine Festival at the WS.I don't think we've ever stayed the entire day in one park.

We love park hoppers! I don't think we could ever spend a day at just one park. We love going to one park in the morning, possibly taking a break at the resort, and then going to a different park in the afternoon. We like mixing it up. Plus, if it gets too crowded in the park we're at, we like having the option of just heading over to another park.

We have always gotten the hopper passes because we plan alot of our meals at Epcot in the countries. We will go to MK, AK or MGM in the morning and mid-afternoon then go to Epcot for dinner. We do go to Epcot on one morning during our stays to get on most of the "rides".

Hi Fantasia!

We are going at the end of Sept and did not get hopper pass. Teh kids are too small to be bouncing from park to park. We may try to go back the the same park int he late afternoon after a nap a the resort but not much more than that.

I have often escaped from an overly full park to another and I love being able to go over to MGM in the morning and then leave after I falter in the Hot Seat. I enjoy going to one of the smaller parks and then over to EPCOT for the evening but since we are AP kind of people I do not have to make such a hard choice.

BTW, Fantasia, I heard that you got to spend some time with our EWP friend Colleen. I am jealous, of both of you. LOL She says that you are every bit as lovely on the inside as the outside and that is saying something. I have often wondered if you are a model or something. I look just like you, in my dreams. :flower:

This is funny my DW just said after we retunned this time that the last two trips we did not hop. We have AP but kids had hopper option and we did not use them. On our next trip we plan to save the money and not get the hopper option. :flower:

Awwww... Thanks Slightly Goofy. And tell Colleen thank you and she is a wonderful lady. She's a sweetheart! It was nice meeting her. Maybe who knows... you and I may bump into each other in Disney!

I'm the OP...it's just hard to do during summer. The children and I are "drained" from the heat! And that's why we do as much as we can in the morning and leave as soon as it gets really hot and crowded. Then we find ourselves not wanting to go back out. I think we do better doing the "hopper" during winter. The sun isn't too brutal and the heat doesn't drain us as much.
