you're welcome! Hope she likes it. I hope I won't be gone too long either. besides missing vmk, this Linux is KILLING me! I can't even watch videos on ebaumsworld or do other stuff. It's like learning to use a computer all over again. I know Linux is supposed to be a lot more stable than Windows and there are some die-hard Linux fans out there....but it's just so much of a pain in the rear end to use if you don't know how!!!! And every application out there is for Windows or MAC. ARRGGG. My disk better come SOON! :badpc:

mia, trust me i know how you feel. my computer has no virus, and it still takes me five minutes to load vmk! we bought our computer four years ago, so it is really old. and on top of that, when we bought the computer, it was two years old already! so i technically have a six year old computer. YES THAT'S RIGHT I SAID SIX YEARS!! lol. but anyways, i have to deal with it all the time, so i feel your pain.

yeah, I could not stand that. It literally takes 5 minutes altogether for the room list to populate on vmk, to pick the room, and go into it. So if I was like, "follow me to yon other room, matey!" and they were like, "alrighty then!" They would see me just standing there for 5 mintues and say "why aren't you going anywhere?" while meanwhilst, I would not see their words, only a room list with no rooms.

Maybe it's because you are used to playing slow that you can handle it. Its like I used to have dial up for years, and had no problem with the slowness, but now that I've had DSL, there is NO WAY I could go back to dial up. If I go to someone's house and ask to use their internet and they say they have dialup, I'm like, "never ye mind. I will wait until I am at yon home". Same thing with my DVR (or Tivo.....our is not Tivo but its the same)....only had it half a year but I can't imagine how I ever lived without being able to pause and rewind my TV and automatically record shows. I could not imagine actually having to watch my show WHEN IT ACTUALLY COMES ON instead of whenever I want, and not being able to fast forward commercials! Avast! I was at my Mom's one day and we were watching TV. I wanted to use the bathroom and tried to pause the TV. It's just hard to go back to crappy or old technology when you have a glimpse of the good stuff :)

P.S. don't ask why I'm talking like a pirate and/or medieval person. Guess it's the lack of sleep....or the fact that I have been playing "Peasant's Quest" on Homestar Runner http://www.homestarrunner.com/disk4of12.html

Well, unfortunately my Windows decided not to work anymore. We have Linux on this computer, but VMK runs SO SLOOOOOOW on it, that the only time I will be getting on for a while is for my daily credits. We ordered a new Windows XP CD, but until it arrives, no VMK for Miakoda and Coughcoolghoul. It's just so slow it's irritating to play. Don't worry about getting the new hats for me, I am able to make mules and get the hats, it just takes FOREVER. So if you see me on, I won't be on for long. I will be going through serious withdrawal! And this is my last week of freedom before I start my new 6pm to 3am job, too...:(

You will therefore see a lot more of me on the DIS though, so I can get my VMK fix vicariously through all of you.

Captain Brain, I will make a point to meet you to make our trade though, if you can bear with my slowness :)

Will miss you all!!!! Have fun and try to survive without me (LOL).

I know. I'm checking the mail everyday for my Windows CD! At least I can still go on credit runs and buy the new items, it's not like I can't get on at all, thank goodness. I'll just be glad when I can actually play again! And of course be able to see what people are saying (for some reason on Linux, the text in the word bubbles is half cut off b/c the words are so big, so I can only see the bottom half of the sentence! LOL).

Hi Mia,

I discovered Windows Media Player for Mac OS X the other day. I'm pretty sure there is a version for Linux which should take care of that ebaumsworld problem. The way I found it was through the NBC web page. I was looking for info about the Threshold show for my husband, I tried to watch the video for the latest show but it didn't work. Instead it had a button for downloading Windows Media Player. I also had to find a more recent version of stuffit to deal with the .sitx file. It wasn't too bad to deal with. Once I got everything installed it worked like a charm and I've FINALLY seen the video of the guys messing with the bottle rocket. :rotfl2: I believe they were copying a stunt from the ******* movie. WARNING: Kids, if you should see that video, please do not copy what those guys did. Just laugh at their stupidity and move on to smarter things like VMK. Oh, and thank your parents for providing you with better genetic material than those guys have.

Yay! Got windows? YES!!!!! I'm back on track. But for those that don't know I also got a job so my vmk hours will be: if I get on during the week anywhere from 1pm to 4pm, and all day on weekends. Until training is over (this is the first week of 3). Then my days off will be mon-tue or tue-wed, same hours (6pm to 3am EST).

It's so nice to run VMK and it actually goes fast....and I can see the text properly! Woohoo! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc
