I have to go for a week to work. I want to go down for a day or two, how do I get there? I was thinking I could fly but then how do I get from the airport to DL. This will be my first time. Thanks

I think you take the 99 to the 5 south. Then its the 5 all the way to DLR.

It's about a 4 hour drive I believe from Fresno (we are about 2 hours from Fresno, and 6 hours from DL). If you fly, there are shuttles from the airport to DL.

YAY I'm glad you posted here. :) I do think it's a 4.5-5 hr drive. If you did fly you could catch a shuttle to DL, we always drive tho so I don't know the name of the shuttle. Our March trip DBF had to fly home and we was able to walk out of the airport the next morning on his return flight and simply catch a shuttle. Taxis and shuttles are abundant at the airports as it is a major tourist destination. :)

Super Shuttle from any of the local airports. Even though it's a one-day trip, even if you're not staying at a hotel that night, use a hotel name (might as well go with the DLH if you're not staying overnight, just to be close) when getting the quote, b/c it's cheaper than using the zipcode.

Grayline's Disneyland Express if coming from LAX or SNA airports. It's a bus.

Cabs are also an option, though I wouldn't take one from LAX or ONT airports. Or Burbank. So really, LGB and SNA for the cab. :)

Or a rental car from the airport.

It's quite a drive from Fresno. You might want to see if you can get a cheap flight and then take Super Shuttle or a cab from the airport. After you add up the gas, it might end up costing around the same.

to DL from Fresno is ~4-4.5 hours depending on traffic. to fly, you would have to fly into LAX as John Wayne and Long Beach do not have direct to Fresno. a shuttle from LAX will take ~45 to 60 minutes. factor in arriving 60 minutes before departure and you are up to 2 hours already. flight time is ~60 to 70 minutes due to the dinky prop engine plane you will fly on. now you are up to 3 hours. factor in time from getting off the plane to your shuttle...15-20 more minutes. finally the fact that your trip is bound to a specific flight time. i would drive and have the comfort and luxury of setting your own time guidelines...time is money!!!

just my honest opinion worth about $.02 :)

I know it sounds crazy but I am thinking about flying into lax and staying two days then taking the train/bus combo to fresno as it is only $36. on sunday I know it will take a while and I have never had to really ride public transpertation except plains I can do it if they fly me to lax instead of fresno. I'll still work my week but play before as the flight costs are the same and I'm seeingg (familey before hand) lol thanks it was just to much to fly between the two places. Now I'm looking at hotels. But it's such a lousy drive. LOL I'd fly... or train. :) JMO

The drive is very boring (I've done it once a month for endless months now.....LOL) and long but it's definitely cheaper than flying. Altho with 1 person it'd probably be worth it to fly, also you'd have to figure in what car you'd be using and whether or not you have to rent a car.....

Considering I live in Fresno, I felt like I should comment. We were in dis last week and it took about 3 hours 45 minutes from Fresno to disneyland. Keep in mind that we did not hit any traffic on the way down. If it is a busy time a day, instead of taking the 5 all the way down, we will use the 210 east to the 605 and then back down to the 5. It basically shapes a triangle, but you stay out of LA and the 605 dumps into the 5 about 20 miles before Dis. I will say that it is not the best drive in the world, considering I have down it about a million times, but I would rather drive than fly down. I get to decide what time to leave and come home. If you get to the airport an hour early and then in the air 45 minutes, gather your stuff at LAX and then spend 45 minutes taking the shuttle to the hotel, how much time have you really saved. I hope that enjoy our little city. We tend to get a bad rap. Have fun in Dis as well.

I live one hour and 10 mins north of Fresno and it takes me about 5 hours to get to DL if I don't hit bad traffic going through LA. Fresno is a very spread out city so if you are starting out on the opposite side of the city than where HWY 99 is then that could easily add 20-30 mins to your trip.

It looked like it would be over $300 to fly, so it looks like if I can get there I will take the train, bus, train combo up to fresno for $36. I have found a good neighbor hotle for $60 a night and I'm going to look at costco for tickets for two days. Do they have the finger scanner at DL like at DW? I cant get that close to DL and not go. it would be like having water in front of you when your dying of thirst. I thought about staying an extra weekand going on a cruise but then I'd have to pay for two people instead of one becouse of the double occ. thing. thanks again. mum

They don't do the finger scanner, no. Handstamps instead.

If costco doesn't have tix, you could just buy a 2 day ticket off disneyland.com. Use the e-ticket option so it just prints out...take the printout to the turnstyle, they scan it and give you a proper ticket right then and there.

Best thing about that is you could do it shortly before you leave Fresno (you'd need access to a printer of course, and give yourself some time in case the email is delayed a bit) so you KNOW you're going.
