was devouring his Large Popcorn from the time he sat down until the movie was over 2 1/2 hours later. How can anyone eat that much popcorn. I thought after he finished the first bag (he was sharing with somone next to him) he was done, but then he got up and got a free refill. Those bags are huge!
As I sat there nibbling on my praline protein bar:D
Then I look over at DS and DH who bought 3 Snow Caps(at $5 a box!.
They should have a special section with dividers between those seats, so you can't see what the person next to you is eating reserved especially for dieters LOL

What do you take to the movies to munch on? Or do you buy something there?

I take a Carbolite bar with me, and my DS actually looks longingly at it because he has tasted them, and knows they taste so good!

He usally gets nachos, and I nibble on the jalepenos. :p

I don't take anything.........we usually go out to lunch before we go........and today is the day (date day ;) )
DH takes spice drops (until he starts Atkins).

But concerning the popcorn. My DD (age 20) can eat a whole bucket by herself...no problem!

I've been thinking a lot about this as well. We are planning on going to see XMen 2 tomorrow night- so thanks for posting- maybe i can go to that movie with some good strategies! I too have thought about taking a carbolite bar along, but now as I think even more- I think I'm gonna bring one of thos ebig ol' bottles of water. My fam won't torrrture me ... at least I don't think they will, but, just in case I need some more ammo! Oh- I guess if you're off induction you could melt a chocolate carbolite bar and use it to cover either peanuts, almonds or macadamias! UMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM That would be good!!

DS and DH just can't sit through a movie without the humongous bucket of popcorn and some candy, and this has been a really hard habit for me to break too. It's been so hard that I have sent them off to the movies without me recently, just because I knew I would have a hard time keeping my hands out of the popcorn bucket.

The one time I did go with them recently, I put a roll of Lifesavers in my purse. When I had an overwhelming desire to grab the popcorn, I would pop a Lifesaver in my mouth instead. The fruity flavor seemed to drown out the popcorn smell quite effectively. I think I'll make it a point to have Lifesavers or hard candies with me at the movies from now on...

my treat lately has been a tootsie roll pop - lasts a long time and calms my need for chocolate and its only 1 point. Works for me and I have been keeping them handy - but only allow myself 1 a day!

Thats a great idea, I could get some sugar free pops next time I go...Thanks

I wish I had the option of going to the theater! The movies are all in Italian, so we just do not go. :(

If I were able to go I would probably pop my own lite popcorn and smuggle it inside. Then I would purchase a bottle of water to enjoy with it.

I haven't been to the movies since I started Atkins and we don't usually go unless we are on vacation, but I am sure I will take some kind of nuts with me to eat...I wish I could take a Carbolite bar, but unfortunately I can't eat them...

Popcorn isn't really my thing anyway, so it won't even bother me that DH will be eating it...I used to eat maybe a couple of handfuls before Atkins, but that was all I could tolerate of the stuff!

Popcorn is one of my greatest weaknesses. I can't bear to go to the movies and smell that wonderful fragrance :(

So, I just wait for the film to come out on DVD or appear on HBO and then I watch it. I know my own weakness too well. I do better just not going to the movies.

But listen to you, you had all that popcorn around you and you nibbled on a low carb bar instead. That is determination, my friend. That's also why you are so successful at this weight loss stuff. I hope you felt proud of yourself for doing that :)
