just a vent i want to get out, i cant really say anything.

i went to my sister in laws baby shower today and i had a diaper cake made for her. ( i really hope you guys know what that is) and it was huge and cost a lot of money then i bought her one small gift that was wrapped up.

well her best friend bothered me today, when i brought it in one of her friends says oh that's cute, her best friend didnt say anything.

well when my sister in law opened presents she looked at that one last, well her best friend said...

well what is she suppose to due with that ?

i was shocked

(just a little background her and all of her friends have around a 2 year old, there all in the mommie and me group, well now they are all preg. again or just had a baby) so i am very suprised, out of all these preg. women no one has ever had one. And for her to say something like that.

I think that was very rude. Maybe she was jealous that she did not think of such a cute idea :) . I would have told her "well you could always break it down & you could figure what to do with it then I am sure" :goodvibes

That was so rude!
my best friend is a new daddy and his mom made a diaper cake --i thought it was adorable!

i just said something like well she said she needed diapers and i thought it was a cute way to give it.

she is the one who "hosted" the party, but my mil is the one who did the food, and cake and everything

and you know what she gave her.
this is so gross, but she gave her some pads... and they thought it was so funny. the best friend said hehe you will be using that alot!

thanks for reading, i feel better now lol

I've given diaper cakes before, and made the top layer out of baby wash cloths....etc. I also would slip little rattles or paci's in the layers sticking out so it was sort of a mixed gift cake. But I think it's a GREAT gift and a very clever and unique way to present something that every mother can use. Even if you made it out of cloth diapers, useful and very creative :)

yeah i had a lot of little things on it all different types of j&j lotions, a bottle brush cleaner, little shoes, coat hangers, nail clipers, 7 washclothes ( they had ever day of the week on them) it had teeth rings, little rattle, and more little stuff i just cant remember it all now.

also, it was made with the diapers from the larger box of diapers.

but i want to say something so bad to my sister in law, but where not that close at all

::::raises hand:::: :wave: :wave:

What on earth is a diaper cake? Photo's please?

:confused3 :yay:

I think that was a darling idea. Her friend is an idiot, and a rude one at that.

Ooo!!!! How absolutely adorable! If I were going to have a baby I'd LOVE to get something like that.

What an adorable gift, and you certainly put much time, love and effort in your gift. Your SIL's friend was way out of line. I would not say anything to your SIL about this, the comment was not her fault and it will only make her feel bad. The friend was probably just jealous that she did not come up with such a great and adorable gift. I am sorry that this happened to you.

thank you guys!!!

yeah, i won't say anything, i guess i was just shocked you know. i will say something to my hubby when he gets home ( it's his sister)

I never got one when I was pregnant, but those pics are adorable! :thumbsup2 Very creative idea!

I've never seen them before, but they're adorable. I can't believe the friend thought this inappropriate, but found pads to be a ok? :rolleyes1

Good point! :teeth:

That was very rude! What a cute idea and very thoughtful on your part :)

I was going to ask the same thing. It has been awhile since I have done the baby thing. Very cute idea. I would have been honored that you took the time to give me something special from your heart. I would try to blow it off. Some people just have poor taste, and horrible manners! You know what they say, "What comes around, goes around"! ;)

I loved my diaper cake. It was very simple and small. My friend made it and used baby socks folded into "roses" on top. I can't believe how elaborate they are now!

It's a wonderful gift. I detect a bit of jealousy. I mean, look at it. It had to have been the center of attention.

I wouldn't let her comment bother you. She probably wishes she thought of something as spectacular as your gift.
