No real point to this thread other than I am still so excited about it. For Christmas, most of my family (immediate and cousins) got certificates to a local skydiving school. Well our appointment was today. 7 of us went...the other 2 went in mid August because my cousin had a week in between basic training and whatever is the next step. We got there bright and early and realized that two of us did not have id. I was one of them (thought it was in my wallet, forgot it was on my desk). But it was ok because we had to go up one at a time. So I finally get my turn and I think the guy I'm jumping with is worried that I am going to be a complete basket case (mainly because of what my family told him). Not going to lie, I was terrified and did sort of want to chicken out. But I am so glad I did it! My brother and I have already asked for gift certificates for Christmas next year. And we can't wait because once we get that second tandem jump in we can start the process to jump solo (which eventually leads to super cheap jumps which is a big plus!)

So has anyone else gone skydiving?

Congratulations! It is something I have always wanted to do but due to leg problems I can not do so now. However, my eldest DS, his fiancee, my middle son and my dh... all did a tandem jump last month. First jump for each of them. They had a great time. The jump was to celebrate fiancee's 30th birthday. :)

You are very brave. :) I on the other hand, am afraid of heights and the mere thought of falling towards the earth from way up high is enough to almost make me pass out, lol.

I do have several friends that have done it and they all rave about how fantastic it is.

Good for you! Some people tried to get me to skydive back in college and I kept saying "No…too expensive, too chicken…" I really wish I had given it a shot.

DH did it a few years ago as part of a bachelor party. They tried to talk me into doing it. I told them that I was there to take pictures, not jump out of a perfectly good airplane:lmao:!!!!

I surprised my husband with a jump for his 50th birthday. It was something he always wanted to do. he loved it and wants to go again. It's so darn expensive though. :guilty:

Sometimes I think I would love to try it, but I know I would chicken out.

Hi gnargle2988,
Congrats on your jump! :thumbsup2 It takes a lot to go through with doing that so pat yourself on the back. I have never done it and do not plan to. I am too chicken. :scared1: I do know several people who have, they all loved it and would do it again. Be careful though, as I hear the adrenaline rush can become addictive. :goodvibes Thanks for sharing.

It's only expensive because you're paying for the tandem jump. If it's something he enjoys once he's finished training it's actually quite affordable

I went last September and it was amazing! My brother and I always said we were going to do it and then a bunch of friends wanted to go so we planned it...I was afraid I was going to chicken out but so glad I didnt--i cant wait to go again!
