...and I learned some things about them.
1. My Mom is the slowest person on the planet. I even teased her that she probably couldn't remember when the last time is that she ate a meal when it was still hot. She waits until she is served before taking out her pills that she has to take with a meal.
1.a. My Dad is the most patient person in the world. He just waits for my Mom without complaining or rushing her.
2. Mom thinks that she should get ready in the bathroom in the morning instead of getting ready in the bedroom so someone else can shower. It never even occurred to her that she could put on her makeup anywhere but at the bathroom mirror.
3. Mom doesn't like to drive when she's in a city and has someone else to drive for her, but she doesn't like how my Dad drives. I was handed the keys to their car so I could drive.
4. Driving a standard is like riding a bike. I hadn't driven a manual transmission in 15 years, but I didn't even have to think about what I was doing because it all came back so quickly.
5. Dad needs to get his hearing checked. The woman who made the waffles at the buffet line asked him if he wanted regular or sugar-free syrup and he told her he didn't know. She told him, "well, I don't know either." He answers a lot of questions like that when he didn't hear what you asked.
6. My parents are just awesome! (Well, I always knew that, but when you are faced with a family crisis, you really get to see it. My sister was in ICU all weekend. When Mom told me that they were going and how bad things were, I started talking her up. She asked me to go with them so I could keep her on an even keel and that's why I went with them.)
7. I can't tell you how many people told me what a great family I have while I was sitting in waiting rooms. Evidently, people can see the love that we all have for one another. My other siblings made their treks to the hospital over the weekend, too, but we stayed overnight while they made day trips.
It's funny what you see in people when you are with them for that many hours that you don't see when you only see them for a few hours at a time.

My prayers are with you and your sister!!
