i was wrong - the BA fares turn out to be not so incredible..(i read the fine print)

I just got an email with incredibly low BA fares, but they're FROM the US to various European destinations, including London.

If you book the ticket by January 27th for travel between January 25, 2011 and April 12, 2011, the fare from NY to London is £125 !!

that's pretty good!

i wonder if there is anything similar in the reverse direction...

oh wait a minute....are these one way fares?

i have to go check it to see if it's RT or one way...

if it's only one way that would make it £ 250 RT...

but the trip has to begin in NY....

ok....so here's the fine print....
again, this is for a RT between NY and london...

the fare is one way based on a RT ticket....
so the actual fare - that they never spell out - is £ 250...
talk about a misleading website.......

and to make matters worse.....in the tiny little print in the middle of the page, it says that there are also taxes of £ 116 - it doesn't make clear whether this is also in each direction....which would be £ 232
plus another £ 2 for security - talk about nickel and diming you...

so total that would be £ 250 + £ 232 +4 = £ 486

unbelievable...

and there are a zillion other restrictions on it, including midweek travel only...

you know they're really stupid.....i was all excited when i saw the email and immediately went in to see it...
but now that i see how misleading they are, i'm never going to waste my time looking at another offer....
fool me once, shame on you...fool me twice....

and i used to really like BA....we flew them a lot.....

what can i say....hope springs eternal..

It does annoy me when the detail hides our charges and costs

Yes, so did I. But by the turn of the century I had had enough of landing days before my luggage every time. And the customer service .... well I refer you to this quote again:

BA you guys are....well....i won't say what i think of you..

I have to say it's a good thing you posted this. I wonder how many folk have been snookered.
