I Was Starting to Think Wishing on Stars Was for Babies and Crazy People Updated 8/22

Im here, enjoying the report as well as your dining report! We stayed in POR back in 2005 and I use to love to get up early before my family and walk around (it was spring) and it was very nice! I would walk to the food court for coffee each morning..

Thanks for reading! Wow, that sounds like quite a dream. In a perfect world, I would have gotten up every morning to do that, but in all reality I was hugging my pillow right up until the phone rang and that little blue monster said "Mooooorrrrrnnnnnnniiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnng." From there, it was enjoying the view of the parking lot while making our way to the bus depot.

I love this movie! I was sort of "anti princess and the frog" before I saw it because they freaking plastered Tiana EVERYWHERE like she was automatically a classic Disney princess the second they announced the movie. But now that I've seen it I've taken back all the bad things I said :lmao:

And every time there's a new post on this thread I think about when she says it and is putting on her mascara :rotfl2:

:lmao:
You know, I think Charlotte deserves her own movie! She's princess of the Mardi Gras, after all! ;) My original dining report title had been planned out as "I'm gonna need 500 of your man-catching beignets!" but had to change it.

With all this talk about the movie, I may have to abandon my planned update to go watch it before bedtime. Hmmm. . .

Day One- The Hunt for Lunch

05152da4.jpg

This was my eighth trip or so to WDW, but only Naveen's third adventure to the World. Now, we enjoyed our first two trips together but there were unforeseen circumstances completely out of our control that didn't make it. . . best-trip-ever worthy. Thus, every time I mentioned going again I would get major eyerollage- which is how this trip almost didn't come to be. Since he reluctantly agreed to do one more trip, I knew I had to pull out all the big guns and make this one the very best I could possibly make it. I tried to take into account attractions and eateries he would enjoy more, plus I had been warned I needed to really slow down. He tends to get blisters easily, which make him so completely miserable and I wanted to avoid that at all costs. Besides, third time is a charm, right? I was hoping so, anyway.

We left our room to head toward Riverside Mill for lunch. We didn't see anything of any particular interest so we decided to take advantage of the water taxi and close proximity to Downtown Disney to give it a try. The ride was leisurely, the two of us relaxing in silence as took in the sights. Well, maybe Naveen was taking in the scenery but I was daydreaming about the rest of our trip. :rolleyes1 I also had my first love bug sighting. Other Dis members had talked about them on here, but I didn't have a clue what they were until I saw the little mated buggers land beside me on my seat. From there on out, they were everywhere!

A few Downtown Disney shots taken from the boat.

S7303027.jpg

When the boat pulled up to the dock, we weren't quite sure where to go. The menu for Wolfgang Puck Express sounded pretty appetizing for the both of us so we decided to set out for it. Now, here's where we made our first mistake. We had only been to DTD once back in 2008. It was night and we didn't stray far from Marketplace. I didn't have a clue where to go and Naveen was too darn proud to ask for directions. Say it with me ladies, "Men!" We ride over to West Side where I spot what I think is the right place. We go inside, but there's nothing on the menu even remotely close to what I'd read about. Did I not do enough research? With our stomachs growling in fury and Naveen giving me a "I thought you knew what you were doing, Woman!" look we kept traveling.

The sun is beating down on us, my head is throbbing, and I hear this: "I think I'm getting a blister." Words of doom! I keep pushing onward, though, realizing that if I had wanted this trip to be wonderful for him it was not starting out very well. Finally, at what felt like that other side of the world, we spot the glorious Earl of Sandwich sign! Yay, air conditioning! On the way out, I did spot the Marketplace WPE- the one I was looking for- but I silently steered him back to the dock for the water taxi.

Here are some pictures from our lunch, but to read the full review click here.

After our scavenger hunt for lunch had concluded, we headed back to our room to rest for a little while. Not for long, though, because we had an adventure to begin!

:lovestruc We love Earl of Sandwich, :thumbsup2 we have to stop and eat there at least once during our trip.

:lovestruc We love Earl of Sandwich, :thumbsup2 we have to stop and eat there at least once during our trip.

I wish we had discovered it before our last trip. It would be a great take-and-go lunch for the last day or even to store for the following morning if there was a refrigerator in the room.

Day One- A Magical Kingdom Awaits

05152da4.jpg

After we had rested in the comfort of our air conditioned hotel room for say, oh, five minutes we were ready to head over to our first park for this trip. Originally, we had planned to go to Animal Kingdom because it was staying open late for EMH, but since we were having dinner at 'Ohana and the Magic Kingdom was closing at the same time we decided to go there instead. Besides, isn't it just a little bit more magical somehow to start a trip at Magic Kingdom? Maybe it's just me. :confused3 So we hopped on an empty bus and headed over to the park.

Fall is absolutely my favorite time of year: the changing of the leaves into a colorful display, the crispness of the air, and the smells of pumpkin and spice everywhere that only comes with the promise of the holidays to come. Of course, it was the start of the season in Florida where none of those things were happening except for the glorious and splendid decorations. I think I was more excited to see those than any of my favorite attractions!

S7302186.jpg

S7302185.jpg

I had never seen the crowds so low in my entire life! It was absolutely phenomenal. After Naveen entertained me by letting my take shot after shot of nearly every detail I could find, we headed over to Tomorrowland for our very first ride of the trip.

S7302195.jpg

We hadn't been on Space Mountain since it was redone, but we had definitely never been able to just walk right on it without even a second of a wait. Of course, I was feeling a little green by the time we came off of it. Some thrill rides apparently are just a little too thrilling for me.

We passed by this guy on our way over to join up with Buzz Lightyear where he informed us that Stitch had escaped!
S7302196.jpg

S7302197.jpg

But Stitch hadn't escaped, he was waiting for us back in our room so we skipped the effort to find him and headed over to Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin. Again, there was no wait for this ride either but it did break down on us at the very end and sent our car into a jerking motion. Not a good way to follow Space Mountain! I didn't take a picture of the score, but it was a measly 3k to 100k. I won't say who won. :rolleyes1

After a nice- and much needed- leisurely ride along the Peoplemover, we decided to have a snack. As it just so happened, one of my favorite snacks at WDW could be found in Tomorrowland. How convenient!

bb07f492.jpg

Mmm, I love the sweet cream cheese pretzels from the Lunching Pad. We shared one, though I definitely think I could have handled one on my own. Maybe we had the intention of returning for one another day, but I don't think that ever happened. :sad2: While we were enjoying our treat, a CM named Kyle stopped by to talk to us for a few minutes. He was extremely friendly, and we enjoyed our short chat with him.

Before we headed out of Tomorrowland, we stopped by Merchant of Venus where I found this little lady. Sorry Stitch, we didn't want to cram her in that backpack.
S7302210.jpg

And, I couldn't resist snapping this priceless photo. I think it's a little snug.
S7302211.jpg

We left the world of tomorrow to step into a land of fantasy. After pausing to read a few of the signs concerning the expansion, we stepped right into a pot of honey to visit Pooh and my very favorite blue donkey, Eeyore. After bouncing through the 100 Acre Wood, we flew over Neverland after a ten minute wait and then walked into a haunted elevator before boarding our doom buggy. I finally managed to look up this time in the elevator to see the skeleton hanging from the ceiling!

Lastly, we headed to Frontierland to ride one of our favorites: Big Thunder Mountain Railroad! As there was no wait for this we ripped through the mountains and caves twice before we had to call it quits. As Wishes began, we paused just a moment to view the beautiful fireworks before making our escape to the Polynesian for dinner. And that's when my camera battery took its last electrical breath. . .

fa937de2-1.jpg

After our grand adventure through Downtown Disney, I was under the impression that I might actually be able to relax a little bit on our so called "vacation." I was sorely mistaken. As my lovely Charlotte wished to cram every bit of magic into our trip as possible, I was soon frog marched (Haha! Get it?) to the bus stop, and then onto the Magic Kingdom. Despite my general grumpiness, the place never ceases to take my breath away, especially when the castle comes into view, though the view would have been far more majestic if a construction crane hadn't been present as well. All in the name of progress, right? While Charlotte was busy snapping away at anything and everything that looked vaguely decorated in fall colors, I took the time to appreciate the fine details of my surroundings. Things like, the Disney Imagineer names that appear on the second floors of the Main Street buildings, and the Lady and the Tramp heart and doggie paws just outside Tony's Town Square. I may not be the biggest Disney fan in the world, but I can appreciate attention to detail like that.

Our first stop was Tomorrowland, and surprisingly enough, there was little, to no wait for the newly renovated Space Mountain, though I'll be honest with you, I truly couldn't tell a difference from the last time we had ridden it. It was jerky, and I'm pretty sure it was the combination of the darkness and flashing lights that made my Charlotte feel ill. I also felt a little queasy after the ride, something of an oddity since I normally don't suffer from any kind of motion sickness. Despite our discomfort, we answered the call of duty to save the galaxy, and were soon spinning through outer space on Space Ranger Spin. I'm not one to toot my own horn, but you can thank me for single handedly saving the universe, as Miss Charlotte believed it was some sort of sight seeing trip, at least that's what I thought from looking at her score. There was a slight logjam at the end of the ride, and apparently our car was part of the problem, as it kept jerking from side to side, the problem was handled quickly, and we were soon enjoying some R and R aboard the Tomorrowland Peoplemover.

Zipping through outer space and destroying alien robots tends to make a frog hungry, the sweet cream cheese pretzel from the Lunching Pad hit the spot nicely, not too sweet at all. While I realize that it takes thousands of people at Disney to make the park run efficiently, it was nice to have a Cast Member come by and chat us up, genuinely interested in how we were doing. You don't find that kind of thing around much these days, and was well appreciated by Miss Charlotte and me.

On our way to Fantasyland, we checked out all the information we could on the new expansions coming soon to the Magic Kingdom. As Beauty and the Beast is one of my favorite Disney films, I was excited to see that it was going to play a big part in the new expansion. Thankfully, our day rolled on a leisurely pace, going from ride to ride with little to no wait times. The highlight of all of this for me was getting to ride Big Thunder Mountain Railroad not once, but twice in the span of less than ten minutes. It may not big as big and fancy as some of the newer coasters out there, but it gives me just enough thrill to get my pulse racing, but not so much that I look greener than usual after the experience.
As what little crowd there was gathered to see the Wishes fireworks show, Miss Charlotte and I made our getaway, stealthily making it onto the monorail and headed towards the Polynesian to enjoy our dinner at Ohana, avoiding the crowds departing the park. Despite the slight hiccup at Downtown Disney, I'd say our trip to the Magic Kingdom more than made up for it.

I love that you both give your point of view. My DH couldn't be bothered telling his side of the story.

I apologize to any readers out there for having not updated in a while. Naveen was in a car accident while driving to work. An SUV drove him off the road, sent him into a spin into a streetlight, and the light actually fell on top of my car. Thankfully, he only suffered mild head trauma, burns on his arms, and some contusions on his legs. Unfortunately, the SUV fled the scene of the accident, but there were witnesses to validate the claim. Needless to say, it's been a very stressful week for us. He is still recovering, but we hope to get back to our regularly scheduled program soon!

0a3e66b5.jpg

I forgot about the photo I took of my car when they let me pull my stuff from it two days later. The dent in the hood is visible from where the light fell atop it; it's also still covered in glass. There is some damage on the passenger side as well, but very minimal.

I'm so sorry to hear about the accident. Thank goodness he wasn't hurt worse than he was. I hope they get the person who did this. With all the hidden cameras around you never know. Good luck.

We don't think they'll actually be able to find who did it because it took place just before 11 at night and no one was able to get a plate number. Unfortunately, there were no cameras to catch it either. I'm the one that wished the other person would be found, but when they pulled him from the accident he told the officer he was glad the other driver wasn't hurt, too. Thank you for the good wishes! :goodvibes

That's terrible! I'm glad he's ok!!

Thank you, we are too!

Day One- 'Ohana Means Thirsty?

05152da4.jpg

Oh dear me, it has been a terribly long time since I've been able to update. We have been very busy dreaming and wishing upon stars for another trip. Oh, no, wait- that's just me! In all actuality, we've had a lot of things that had to be settled after the accident. Unfortunately, a bill that we received just today proves not everything is settled, but we both agreed we'd like the chance to finish this report. We're also both attending school in the fall- Naveen starts tomorrow and I'm so extremely proud of him. Anyway, I had to ask for this report to be dug out of the graveyard. Time to put some life back into it!

With a lifeless camera in my bag, we made our way to the monorail for Naveen's very first ride. I was a little nervous that it would be reminiscent of a rather unsavory past experience he had on a subway in New York, but I heard no complaints. With a sigh of relief, we stepped out at the Polynesian. Once we arrived at the check-in kiosk, we were told they were at least half an hour behind on seating. No problem with us, we're on this vacation to relax despite a certain someone tapping her foot impatiently. Oh, wait, was that me? :rolleyes1 This was only my second time at the Polynesian, so I certainly didn't mind doing a little exploring while we waited. Naveen, though, was making his way over to a particularly comfortable-looking wicker chair and before I could even get a word in he was perusing the drink menu. I checked out the shops on that level, and when I returned he had ordered this:

S7302257.jpg

The Kentucky Peach. I somehow managed to resuscitate my camera just long enough to snap a picture, but not before nearly half of it had been sucked down. Apparently, he liked it!

This was my second time at 'Ohana and his first. In February of last year, my mother and I enjoyed our meal there so very much. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same about my most recent dining experience there. Once we were seated and greeted by our two CMs, our appetizers were brought out quickly to us. So quickly, in fact, that they beat our drinks to the table. Since I have updated my dining report, I'll skip over the sour details of the meal but to elaborate on my title for this portion of the vacation, our glasses stayed empty until dessert. We did ask for refills several times, but they didn't come until the end.

Because of my useless camera, I only have pictures from the February meal. It looked the same to me, though. To read the complete dining review, click here.

S7301064.jpg

The incredibly delectable dessert was almost enough to save the meal, but I won't say our whole dining experience was bad. While we waited for our dinner, a couple celebrated being married for fifty-four years. Wonderful for them! My sweet prince asked me to dance to our favorite Elvis song, creating a memory that I won't let be spoiled by anything else that happened in that restaurant.

Because our dinner reservation was already late to begin with and was delayed due to being completely swamped, by the time we were ready to leave we were told there were no more buses running in the parks. Along with the other masses of people ready to go crash into an inviting bed, we were redirected to the bus depot where we had to board one headed for Downtown Disney. It was a little frustrating to have to go all the way there just to take another bus back to our resort. By the time we did get back, it was pretty late. Seeing as I had been up for longer than twenty-four hours, I couldn't wait to climb into my bed.

But wait, what do I spy with my little eye over on the table? Why, the bounceback offer! Now, I know a deal is a deal so I have to resist the urge to truly be a Miss Charlotte and shove the paper in Naveen's face crying "pleasepleasepleasepleasePLEASE!" Unfortunately, I did take the moral high road and stashed the offer elsewhere so I wouldn't be tempted to book another trip. Oh, I wanted to believe me, but I was good. Rats.

With visions of Eeyore dancing in my head, I drifted off to sleep almost immediately. Oh, if I only knew how magical the next morning was going to be for me indeed!

Day Two- Precious Memories

Thursday, September 16th

05152da4.jpg

It seemed like I had just closed my eyes when I heard the phone ringing. 6:30 already? Before I could break out of what Naveen calls my "hot pocket" of blankets snuggled and tucked in around me, he had answered the call. "Hello?" Click. "Stitch woke me uuuuuupppp." Despite my own sleepiness, I couldn't help but laugh about that. So, up we went to start getting dressed, grab a morning snack from our small pile brought from home, and out the door to make the short distance to our bus depot.

We arrived only a few minutes after the morning Extra Magic Hours began. Not wanting to be in a hurry and bolt through the gates, I paused to snap a few photos. Sometimes, I think Naveen would prefer my racing feet to my slow gait when I'm in picture-taking mode. We headed up to the train station but were told it wasn't open just yet. So back down we went to head over to The Chapeau and then the Main Street Confectionary.

S7302290.jpg

We stepped out of the shops just in time to see the opening on Main Street.
S7302293.jpg

S7302295.jpg

S7302300.jpg

As soon as it was over, we started to walk toward the castle. It was then that the absolute most magical experience I've ever had at Disney World occurred. It requires a little backstory, and I hope no one minds if I share a little about my personal life.

I was very young when my parents divorced and remarried other people not long after. When I was fourteen, my dad passed away from Lou Gehrig's disease so my step-father raised me into adulthood. Almost three years ago- on August 19th- my step-dad passed away in the hospital from complications due to surgery after he suffered a heart attack. He was a good man who never once treated me any differently from his own children. A former soldier, he loved his country, but he also had been a firefighter throughout the majority of his life. I cannot express how many people he helped or how many hearts he touched. He is sorely missed to this very day. He also enjoyed antique cars, belonging to a club in which he dragged my mother and me all over the country for meetings. So, when I was walking down Main Street and I saw the fire engine sitting there my heart skipped a beat.

Since there was no one around it, I told Naveen to go pose by it. Just when I snapped it, I heard a Cast Member say to me "Are you taking his picture? No, no, no." I thought I had done something wrong, but she told him to sit down in the driver's seat. When tears sprang to my eyes, I explained about my father being a firefighter. I saw tears in her own eyes as she called the photographer over and spent quite a bit of time with us taking pictures. I see posts on this board sometimes talking about how great the CMs are, but this woman- whose name I believe was Barbara- did so much more than she ever had to do. She gave Naveen and me an incredible gift that I'm not sure she understood she gave to us. My step-dad wasn't a Disney fan by any means. He was a grouch whenever he went with us when I was younger, but to see that fire truck sitting there was almost like he put it there, telling me that no matter where I go or what I do he will always be there with me. I am so thankful to her for the opportunity she gave us, and those words of gratitude will never be enough. Those were precious, precious memories. Boy, am I getting choked up writing all that out.

S7302317.jpg

This was the only picture I had a chance to take before Barbara and the Photopass Photographer took over. I'm not sure what happened to the ones she took, but I haven't uploaded the Photopass yet. I know I know, it's been almost a year. She did take one of me by myself in the driver's seat, which I'm on the hunt for now.

After thanking them both again and drying my eyes, we headed on toward the castle with Fantasyland in mind.
S7302333.jpg

I loved these Halloween statues!
S7302327.jpg

S7302328.jpg

Now, Naveen may be a Prince, but he isn't without his White Knight complex. When he saw Excalibur it was like a golden aura just glowed from him. He had to have his sword, to prove he belonged right at the Round Table.
S7302346.jpg

Despite his best efforts, it just wouldn't budge. Sorry, Princey, looks like your alternate suit is green and slimy!

After dragging him away from the Sword in the Stone, we headed to one of our favorite attractions!
S7302347.jpg

I love this little show so very much, not to mention the break from both the heat and our feet. There was no wait- even better.

Silly hat number 2.
S7302356.jpg

After Mickey restored musicality once more, we decided it was time to fly off to Neverland before the lines were just too long for the ride. This has always been one of my favorite rides as well, but I usually don't get the opportunity to ride it due to sometimes a forty-five minute to an hour wait. Ten minutes, though, I can do that!

After landing back on solid ground, we bid adieu to Fantasyland to visit the wild west in Frontierland.

fa937de2-1.jpg

Between the hectic hurry to make it to the airport in time, and our eventual triumphant arrival onto property, it goes without saying that sleep for me and my Princess Charlotte came quickly, and was quite sound. As nice as it would have been to spend the day lounging in bed, let's be real, who goes to Disney World for that? At 6:30 sharp, a little blue, flop-eared alien made sure I was awake and ready to start my new day of adventure. It's a little disconcerting at first to have Stitch yell, "Hey, wake up," but I'm sure it would be great for a kid to get to answer that wake up call, knowing that one of the Disney characters took time out of their busy schedule to wake them up. With only slightly dragging feet, we made ready to depart, and thankfully, our bus depot was perhaps only a hundred feet or so from our doorstep, a miracle in and of itself.

While there were more than enough people there for the Extra Magic Hours opening, I rather enjoyed the leisurely pace that most of the other guests had, as opposed to the sometimes frantic rush that occurs during peak hours. And don't believe a word of what Miss Charlotte tells you about me and her picture taking. I have no problem with taking it slow and easy, it's when we have to stop and take a picture of the same tree for the fifteenth time that I get a little testy.

While I didn't get to know her step-father for as long as she did, I too was hit pretty hard by his unexpected passing, and the opportunity that was given to us on the antique fire truck was nothing short of phenomenal. People like Barbara remind me that there are indeed angels to be found everywhere, ready to pick us up when we're down, and to let us know everything is going to be all right. The best part of that impromptu photo shoot was the smile on Miss Charlotte's face, especially when we initially thought we were going to get in trouble for being near the truck. I'm not an overly huge fan of Disney, but this is indeed one of my favorite memories of the place, and one of the main reasons that I'll keep returning. Aside from Miss Charlotte dragging me, you know.

If anything, Fantasyland is a chance for me to return to my childhood. I grew up watching the movies, owned hundreds of those little golden-spine storybooks. I don't care if you're eight, or a hundred and eight, to see the "actual" Sword in the Stone is just awesome. And of course I had to give it a try and see if I was destined for greatness. Alas, it seems I'll just have to settle for being a frog. Which isn't all bad, unless you come across some Cajuns.

Continuing with the theme of childhood fulfillment, Mickey's Philharmagic is a treat each and every time we go. The 3-D effect is a little bit hard on us with glasses, in my opinion, but otherwise, it's a great show. I especially like to sing along with the music of all of my favorite movies. The short rest was nice, and we were ready to tackle another attraction. As dated as it might be, I was looking forward to getting to ride It's a Small World, but it was in the middle of some sprucing up, so I had to settle on Peter Pan, which, thankfully, had a short wait time. I never was able to visit a Disney property as a child, but I'd have to say that it's the older folks, only slightly older, in my case, that really enjoy these older rides. Sure, they're not flashy or fast, but they rekindle memories of a time where things were a bit simpler, where joy was found in small things, no special effects or death defying drops needed.

With our flight of fancy completed, we made our way to one of our personal favorite spots in the park, Frontierland, someone watch out for the 'Brer Fox, these frog legs are tasty, I'm sure!

Day Two- An Unexpected Tour

05152da4.jpg

With the sounds of the crickets chirping merrily in the background, (literally, actually, there seems to be a band of them just outside my window playing me a happy tune) I think we're alone in this project. We're approaching the anniversary mark of our trip, but we're going to stick it out and finish it and joyously relive our wonderful memories! If anyone is still reading, we appreciate it so much- thank you! :flower3:

I did have a scheduled mission for the day, one I had been planning for quite some time thanks to many posts on the Dis boards. The infamous paintbrushes over on Tom Sawyer Island. I think I may have visited the island once in the past when I was very young, but I'm honestly not sure on that. I didn't, however, know anything about the hidden brushes until I read about them on here. See, being a Disney fanatic is educational! :teacher: Well, for future trips, that is. We intended on being on the first raft over, but with us arriving at the Magic Kingdom so early we had plenty of time to catch a ride here or there. With a pep in our steps, we ventured over to our first stop, enjoying some scenery along the way.

S7302359.jpg

S7302362.jpg

S7302371.jpg

S7302374.jpg

My favorite train ride, zipping through the mountains and caves along the way. I was terribly excited to see there was absolutely no wait whatsoever. In fact, the attraction was downright empty. And why can't I hear joyful screaming or the sound of the train along the tracks? Oh, it's closed.

Splash Mountain didn't have a wait either so we decided we had time to ride it before lining up to head over to Tom Sawyer Island. We start zippity do daaing along, getting splashed here and there, and humming along to the song. We're about to trek up the final incline when we bump into the boat in front of us. The one behind us hits us and so on and so forth until there's quite a backup. Time ticks away and I realize we're missing the first raft. So long paintbrushes!

S7302375.jpg

Our stopping point. A few minutes later a couple of CMs come out to start evacuating the riders. With fears of slipping on the ledge into some sort of awkward pose, I gratefully accept assistance and climb out of the boat. So, after everyone has safely disembarked, we're taking along the super secret passageway to the back to go on a highly anticipated tour of the dumpsters. No cameras please! It was interesting to see some of the warehouses where they keep the props and such that are in need of repair. I remember seeing the statue from Casey's waiting to be repainted.
S7302422.jpg

It's a twin!

Once this unexpected (de)tour concluded, we received fast passes and were sent back on our merry way. Even though we had clearly missed the first raft, visiting Tom Sawyer Island was on my list of missions for this trip. Naveen had never been so we decided to head on over anyway. We climbed aboard the Becky Thatcher and set off for our excursion.

Once we reached land, I set out like a little worker bee just in case there was a single brush left there for me to find. No such luck. :sad2: No matter, there were forts to climb, guns to shoot, caves to explore, and bridges to bounce across! Oh, and rocking chairs to relax into. ::yes::
S7302383.jpg

When I was little I was terrified of swinging bridges. We encountered a playset on a vacation once that had a small one and I think I stood there for what seemed like hours with one foot on the bridge and the other safely placed on the landing. This fear likely stemmed from a vacation with my dad. . . cue flashback sequence! In Chattanooga, Tennessee there is a place called Rock City. They always had these bird houses and billboards once you were in the vicinity that said "See Rock City!" So, off to Rock City we went. It was bad enough that you had to go through the "fat man squeeze" and I was terrified my very tall father was going to get wedged in between some of those rocks. We're about to cross this gigantic bridge high above water, my five-year-old self trotting along behind my dad when these kids start running across it and swinging it. There was screaming, lots and lots of screaming and then I realize that it's me. Ugh, to this day I do not like that place or bridges. So, now I was facing a dilemma.

Oh, that doesn't look so bad at all! No high suspension over water, come on Naveen lets go!

View of my favorite mountain.

So, one of my missions had been accomplished! Sort of. We finished up exploring a little before 11 and decided to head back to the mainland for some lunch at Pecos Bill Cafe. To read the full review, click here.

With our stomachs full of delicious burgers and chocolate cake, we decided to do one last attraction before heading on over for an adventure in Adventureland.

Since BTMRR was still closed, there was a 20 minute wait at Splash Mountain but we used our fast passes in hopes that we'd make it all the way through this time. We did, and as a parting gift to us, we were completely soaked. Leaving a trail of wet footprints behind us, we were off to plunder the treasure with Jack Sparrow, Captain Jack Sparrow.

I too went to Tom Sawyer Island as a kid but I've never brought my own kids there. :guilty: I'm not sure why but we just always skip right over that.

I've never gotten stuck on Splash Mountain before but I have on Space Mountain. I thought it was kind of cool to see it with the lights on.

I think that would be pretty neat to see Space Mountain with the lights on. I don't mind spoilers, and that ride tends to make me a little green anyway!

Fantastic read so far!! We are heading to the world in Sept and I love reading that the wait times are minimal and the weather is good!
Looking forward to more!!
