Back to the OP... do I believe he thinks he was racially profiled? Yes. Do I think his story is 100% accurate? In his mind, yes. Do I think he was racially profiled? Based on the information given, I'm not convinced. However, I'm not convinced he wasn't either. I don't think we have enough facts to fully support his claim of racial profiling. That does not take anything away from how he feels about the incident.

It seems like no one is actually READING what the OP is saying, which is that he isn't trying to convince anyone here if he was or was not, it's to share what to do if you believe that you have been. He believed he was, and he shared his experience as to why he believed that, and what he did as a response. That's it.

It's a thing that happens, and frankly, I'm glad there are people who are willing to call it out so that it doesn't happen as often.

I just read this entire thread and not a single person implied that all police officers are racists. Believing racial profiling exists is not a blanket statement on all law enforcement.

First of all, even if they are able to determine who the officer was, there is no way there are going to disclose that information to the OP. Second, even if the officer in question WAS profiling, I highly doubt he will ever admit to that. So I guess I'm not really sure what result OP is expecting by failing this claim with Disney.

I praise God for a heavy police and security presence at Disney Springs. Does everyone know that the initial target for the Orlando Pulse shooter was NOT the Pulse nightclub? But that the shooter brought his guns (hiding some of his gear in a stroller as well) to Disney Springs but decided against shooting there after he saw all the police and security around?

I've read the OP's posts and I don't see any racial profiling or anything wrong done.

Sounds sensible from the killer's POV. Criminals generally go for what I believe is called a soft target.

True but like a lot of things we can consider the probabilities and unfortunately right now a disproportionate amount of such interchanges are racially motivated. We need to fix that, after which we can safely make no assumptions about motivations when such things happen, but given the current climate we can unfortunately expect that the probability of racial motivation to go up at least in the short term.

To the OP, I am sorry this happened and that racial profiling exists. As a white middle aged woman neither me or my family can comprehend your reality. My being randomly selected by TSA at the airport is in no way equivalent to being approached by an armed officer with a trained dog. For those of you criticizing the OP, be grateful. Grateful you don’t have to fear when your sons are pulled over for speeding. Fear that your teenage girls will be followed in a store. These are reality for my friends. Most police officers are good and honorable. But until we stand up against those in any role who abuse power, then people will be afraid and untrusting. OP thank you for sharing, and giving suggestions for handling such a situation. And know that I heard you.

However, no one gets to dictate how others respond. When you post on a public message board, you open yourself up for others to respond how they want (within the rules of that board).

In this case, "calling it out" doesn't mean he was racially profiled. One thing OP didn't say, was he the ONLY minority in that area at that time?

The one that stuck out to me was a poster asked why people were so quick to call this PO racist based on the limited information presented by the OP. The following quote was in response...

You do realize you're on the Dis, right? When someone posts a story that is controversial and questionable (due to the lack of detail), people here are going to call it into question, which is natural. Its important for everyone to understand what actually occurred because the OP is urging people to report their experiences as well.

If you stick around, you'll see that controversial and potentially shocking experiences like the one you described happening to you will be discussed in depth. Your experience is making a big statement against Disney Springs security, so its natural for people to want to better understand exactly what happened. If you're going to implore people to file claims when they feel they're experiencing the same type of thing, its only fair that people will ask questions.

Though there is still a post of someone asking why people are rushing to judge this police officer as a racist and the reply was because they watch the news.

So, I guess a few anecdotal cases on the news is enough to assume this officer is too a racist.
