Just out of curiosity, what is the "Variety pin"? 
That's nothing, Judith. Apparently on a business news program recently some talking heads were discussing business successes and failures for the past year. One of them mentioned Disney's animated movie department and the fact that Treasure Planet and Spirit have not done well.
Somehow I don't think Disney is all too worried about the failure of Spirit at the box office.

We watched (or I did, as DH got bored and left the room) Spirit last weekend. I can see why it didn't do so well.
The variety pins are the $2 pins that are sold at the movie theatres and grocery stores. (charity)

I was looking forward for a new one -- until I saw it was Shrek!
Now Stitch -- THAT would have made me HAPPY!
Or even MI. That woud have been great too.
