Just got back from my four day cruise on the Wonder and wanted to say thanks to all who take the time to answer almost any question posted! It really helped us prepare for this vacation. Now that I am back and have everything fresh in my mind, I will be glad to answer any questions you may have ....

here are a few of my observations and experiences:

* was asked to leave Palo Brunch and put on more appropriate attire. I was wearing designer jeans (7s) and a nice dress shirt. Two others were asked to change as well. Not sure if they are starting to enforce the dress code but this was a surprise after reading many previous posts on this topic

*after I changed :) I returned and had a great brunch. I was a little dissapointed in the service, but I would have paid $30 for those two hours of peace and quiet without the hectic pace found on the rest of the ship.

*shows were great in general but the Golden Mickeys was my least favorite by far (I think you can skip it without missing much).

*rotational wait staff was truly excellent from start to finish

*ordered drinks from room service in the morning (coffee, juice, etc) then walked through the buffet and brought food back to the room. This really maximized the enjoyment of our balcony and we got a more substantial breakfast than if we just ordered room service

*pirate party went on a little long for our little ones but the fireworks were awesome

*I really think starboard is best on the wonder cruise (clear view of fireworks, Castaway Cay, and Atlantis in Nassau)

I'll be glad to elaborate or answer any other questions about the cruise or Atlantis.

Jeans were never part of the dress code in Palo, so changing would be appropriate.

I am with you on the Golden Mickey's show.

What attire caused the others to be asked to change?

Thanks for the observations and heads up about Palo.

Shorts will get you asked to change at brunch too. That happened to my neighbor...I didn't even pay attention to what he was wearing to warn him, and he had to go back and change.

glad you had a good time!

And yes shorts will get you a comment to please change! We woke up late last cruise and were in a hurry to get to brunch. Dh just threw something on and I didn't even realize he had shorts on until the nice man at the entrance asked if he would please go change since the dress code didn't include shorts. Poor dh - he didn't even realize he had put shorts on either! He ran down and changed then we were sitted immediately. The thing was this was on our 2nd time on the Magic so we knew the dress code.

Thanks for the tip on ordering drinks in the morning from room service, then getting food to go from Topsider's! My DS has food allergies, but loves bacon. I could get that for him, and he'd be in heaven.

We've done starboard and port - and choose port - for a strange reason. The safety drill. Standing outside in the heat on the starboard side of the ship is a less pleasant experience than standing on the port side in the shade. And I'll trade the views for that.

All three of us were wearing jeans ... interestingly, I read somwhere (can't remember if it was on a Navigator or on my reservation card for Palo) that the dress code for Palo Brunch was no shorts and for Palo dinner was no jeans). This, combined with the posts I read here on topic, is what surprised me when I was asked to change.

Jeans are NOT ALLOWED.

From the DCL website:

Palo

Experience elegant dining in an intimate atmosphere exclusively for adults. Treasure a romantic dinner and, on 7-night cruises, an exquisite champagne brunch or a relaxing afternoon high tea. Engage every one of your senses with the sweeping ocean view, unsurpassed service and inspired Northern Italian specialties. Buono Appetito!

At dinner, dress shirt or jacket are required for men; a dress or pantsuit for women. No jeans allowed. At brunch and high tea attire is "cruise casual" — no shorts, swimwear or tank tops.

Clearly, a distinction is being made between dinner and brunch:

At dinner, dress shirt or jacket are required for men; a dress or pantsuit for women. No jeans allowed.

AND

At brunch and high tea attire is "cruise casual" — no shorts, swimwear or tank tops.

They only expressly prohibit shorts, swimwear, and tanktops for brunch and tea. It seems to me that jeans would be acceptable attire.

If they want to prohibit jeans at all times, they need to change their edict.

I read the edict that jeans are prohibited at all times. Cruise casual wear has never been described as wearing jeans no matter how expensive the jeans.

Just my thoughts.....

On one of our cruises hubby wore a very nice shirt and shorts to brunch and was asked to change. He had no problem with this as those are the rules. But it did annoy him to some degree that with long pants someone could wear a rather tacky looking tshirt, which some had on. So what's worse? Long pants with tacky tshirt or a nice Tommy Bahama outfit with shorts? Ah well, live and learn! Hubby was thinking of putting on his kilt and seeing what kind of response that would have gotten him!

Actually, I think a kilt is really dressy and sexy!!
