Im going in May of this year for a week and I was deciding between AKL Savannah view, WL courtyard view, POR and POFQ. The only one I haven't stayed at before is POFQ but everytime I try to talk myself into staying here I just can't accept the New Orleans themeing. I just dont think I'll like it. POR is great too and I LOVE their food court better than anyones on property, but its hard for me to pass up the chance to have a balcony all my own to relax on. I have wonderful memories of last May waking up to the geyser at WL ( we slept with our balcony door open at night ) as well as the boat heading to MK. What a great way to wake up, huh? But last Feb. we stayed at AKL with a Savannah view and had an "alright" time. We weren't too happy with the food court as it seemed like it had the least variety of any on property and it was too cold to really enjoy the balcony and animals as well as the pool. Alas, I think its worth another try! With the warmer weather in May we should be able to spend more time enjoying the animals from our room and actually get some use out of that savannah view, as well as being able to go down to the pool and take a swim if we want. We'd still have to deal with the food court, but we could just make more of an effort to eat at the parks for lunch and dinner.

Hmmm..but now Im thinking of how much I enjoy taking the sea raycers out on Bay Lake at the WL. Grrr!! What should I do?! :headache:

I happen to prefer AKL, but it seems that you like WL better so I voted for WL.

BYW, have you looked into buying DVC? If you're going 2-3 times a year you are probably a good candidate. You can buy into the WL villas on the resale market.

DVC prolly wouldn't be good for me as im a single male and have a hard time as it is finding friends and family that are willing to go with me as often as I want to go. Its getting to the point where Im probably going to have to start taking some solo trips, which I really would prefer not to do. I also don't think I'd need all the space the villas and DVC properties offer. Maybe If I get married someday. :goodvibes

I voted for AKL. I personally am not fond WL. The pool at AKL looks like much more fun than the one at WL. AKL seems more peaceful to me than WL, maybe its the location. You didn't like the food court at AKL, which I love for the chocolate mousse crunch. But then I only eat lunch there on my AK day. The biggest reason I chose AKL was they don't share a bus with another resort. But then I also loe POFQ and you don't, so you may want to take the advice of someone else. :rotfl:

Yeah ... but ... the studios are just about the same size of a regular Deluxe room but comes with a fridge, microwave, toaster and a fold out couch instead of 2 beds. Perfect for a solo trip.

Why not give it a try by renting points? A week in May at the WL (or Boardwalk or Beach Club) costs 123 points and at $11 per point that's $1353. A standard view at WL in May is $275 per night or $2156 for a week with taxes. The only thing you'll miss is there is no housekeeping with DVC and the views from the VWL balconies are more "woodsy".

I would pick AKL over WL and I'm in the decision making right now of choosing, AKL, POLY or BEACH AND YACHT CLUB for deluxes and the POFQ for a moderate choice. Hubby has dates set now for vacation so I have the green light to book now which I'll be doing this weekend once I finally decide, LOL:rotfl2: When WL was in the running, I decided to take it out. I love the look of the resort and the lobby but when I looked at the pool, it totally didn't impress me. The pool doesn't even look adequate enough for a resort of that size and there is no theming to it whatsoever. At least with the POFQ, the pool is themed and has a serpent slide. POFQ gets rave reviews as well for a moderate choice. Just my opinion but outside of the outward appearance and the lobby looks, nothing else catches my eye for the WL. GOODLUCK IN DECIDING THOUGH:thumbsup2

Oh, and I forgot to add the fact that you are considering a savannah view at the AKL. That is a memory in itself according to alot of posters who have been there. The thing with the AKL is it is a real "original" with theming and the pool there looks very relaxing and has the zero entry, etc. The atmosphere at the AKL goes beyond, the outer appearance and lobby. Whichever you choose, as one person told me, "you are in Disney, you'll have fun no matter which choice" so have fun deciding and you will have a great, magical time wherever you go:wizard:

robin made an excellent suggestion :thumbsup2
not only would you be saving money, but you will have something to share with your friends & family now (bet you would find a lot of ppl begging to go with you if they got the room for what you would be paying:) ), as well as beautiful accomadations for you & your future family ;)

look at how many ppl honeymoon at WDW too :lovestruc

:rolleyes1

I voted WL. If you have already stayed in a Savannah view room at AKL and only had an "okay" time, I would definitely change it up!
