I wanted to go back to Disneyland next year

Early 2010 - I've been there once a couple of years ago and want to go back (I've been to WDW three times since then) but would rather wait if California Adventure is going thought changes - what do you think?

If you know that DLR is only a one shot deal- meaning that you can't get back for a long time, then I would wait. If you think you can go next year, and then after the changes also I'd do that. Two trips to DLR are always better than one! :rotfl: But keep in mind DCA will be in various states of disrepair and construction. If you don't want to see that, wait. :)

I am going on Sunday and have to see DCA before they change everything. They plan to redo the theming of the entrance, the shops in Hollywood, remove stuff like the bathroom in the San Francisco area, remove the Jumping Jellyfish, new theme for Boardwalk and Mulholland Madness, and the remover of the Rustworthy. I want to see the park before it is all gone. Whoopie Goldberg's show is closed and will be torn down along with the bathrooms for Ariel. I wish I had gotten to eaten once more at Oom Mow Mow. I am a sentimentalist I guess.

I honestly would wait a little while longer until a lot of the major referbs in DCA have finished, then there will be more for you to see. Right now they have started but havent gotten into the "FULL" Swing of things, and I am already not looking forward to seeing a big ugly hole in the ground. I am going for my trip in May and then calling it quits for a few years. Then I will have a nice surprise when I return. I will head over to WDW to get my fix until DCA is complete.

Since the total project will not be completed until 2012, I woudln't wait unless you really think you can go without DL for that long. I peronally couldn't. Next year will have the new Lagoon show, the new Electrical Parade, the redone Hollywood area, the new Boardwalk, plus many other new things.

I second that advice, if DCA is something you really want to see. I'm not that big a fan of DCA as I am of DL which is the sole reason I go, so construction and all that wouldn't be enough to deter me from the trips I'm planning to make this year and next.

Does anyone have a link to an estimated schedule of completion for all of the DCA projects they are planning? We are tentatively scheduling a trip for next fall, but it's a loose plan so far. It would be interesting to know what things will be done first. Thanks!! :)

I think MiceAge has a timeline. I'll go see if I can find the link. Or maybe someone else knows it.

I would not want to wait until '12 to take the next trip, even if I lived in Azerbaijan. World of Color is supposed to be done Spring of 2010, and some speculate it will be ever better than F! (We'll see about that :rotfl: ) I'm not too sure what the next phase consists of though.

Eep. We had very different experiences with the "quality" of their food, I guess!

I second the  .

To the OP, it seems like there is always something going on at the parks. The beauty of it is that things are never exactly the same as the last time. So go in 2010 and then hit it again several years down the road, after all the changes have been completed. You'll love it both times and get to experience a bit of everything.

ITA with this. Last year we missed Small World and Toy Story, both of which my kids would have LOVED. When I found out IASW was going to be down I almost switched our trip to WDW. But the kids didn't even miss it. This year we will probably see an empty lagoon and possibly miss the Toy Story character meal, and I'm guessing there will be another ride or two that are down. It stinks, but it gives us a reason to come back in the future. For us, we might switch back to WDW for a couple of years then come back to DLR. Not necessarily because DLR is missing anything, but because it would be a nice change of pace. Then when we return to DLR maybe I can talk my kids into riding the Matterhorn and Indy .
