Duncan Hines thinks I won't notice when the cake only takes up 2/3 the space it used to and no longer fills up the pan?

They don't care if you notice, they all have done the same downsize. It is like gasoline... One station raises their prices and within an hour the rest will do the same.

Personally, a lie of omission or obfuscation is still a lie...

There's a website called mouseprint (.org I think) that tracks this sort of thing. Reading their posts, it's amazing what companies are trying to do. Narrowing ice cream cartons (and advertising them as a new design) so it looks like you're getting the same amount! Everything is more expensive now.

I think it would be smart if companies would survey consumers to see if they would rather pay more for the same amount, or have the products packaged in smaller amounts so they can pay less. Pretending we won't notice the difference is insulting!

They have. Quite a bit actually. Companies don't do these things without having a reason to. I have read the research. More people would balk from buying something due to a price increase then due to a size decrease.

Love the cake recipe, the coconut is just the thing my dd would make. I reminded her to sift, so see how this one comes out.

The ice cream really hit me last year too. I think we bought the new size without a first notice to th slight shrinkage is why more would balk at cost increase. But the annoying part has escalated!
