will it be cheaper to book myslef through air canada and the wdw main webpage (staying on site) or is there a good canadain travel agency I should try?

Where are you travelling from?

We found for our 'Sept 10 trip, that Air Canada and WestJet wanted $1800 - $2100 for our family of 4 from Toronto Pearson to MCO round-trip.

We ended up driving to Buffalo, staying overnight (van left at hotel) and flew for $700 plus 2 overnight stays. $1,000 max versues above cost!

I don't know if it is plausible for you to go to an American airport, but like the above poster suggests it is WAAAAYYY cheaper to do so. In most cases I can get 2 or 3 plane tickets for what I pay for one out of Canada to Orlando.
For me it's an easy choice because I live closer to an American airport than a Canadian one. Even if you drive to the nearest American airport and pay for a hotel you'd likely save a lot of money.

Next, I would suggest comparing package prices on places like Expedia e.t.c to what you can add up on your own using the discount links on the Walt Disney World website.

Discounts for next August aren't out yet as far as I know but if you book through Disney now and watch for them you can adjust your reservation.

Look around last year travelocity had a great sale on disney hotels around that time.
