it's always been something I've wanted to see. Now that we have a travel trailer, I thought it would be a good idea to take a vacation there next year. Can anyone help me find some information:

1. When is the best time to go?

2. When is the worst time to go?

3. Where is the best campground?

4. Where is the best hotel? (My Mom goes with us but "camps" at the nearest hotel/resort!)

5. Where can I find information to be mailed to me?

Thanks for any help you can give!

but it's a beautiful big hole. I have apeaceof the Grand canyon on my fridge, my parents went amd bought me back a piece of it and I added a magnet and Viola, Grand Canyon Gail style. We have videos and it was gorgeous. the one thig my parents and brother said was you need no more then 2 or 4 days :D

I dont like long post or long holes

I drove up from Vegas for the day. Now I want to go back and see more of it . IN a day trip you just kind of look and move on.

It was beautiful.

I looked into this last year and the park service website is really useful. Don't remember the link, but if you can work it you want to stay in the park!

I'm hoping we'll be able to go this November.

The only things I know: my parents like the North Rim more than the South Rim, but it's a little harder to get to. I think there's only one hotel on the North Rim, but there are, like, 6 or 7 on or near the South Rim. I know that there's one portion of the South Rim that if you go during certain times of the year (I *want* to say May through Oct, but it might start earlier. I know it ends in Oct), the only way in is their tour bus or hiking, no private vehicles allowed. The remainder of the year, though, that road is open. I don't know if there's anything like that on the north rim.

You can get a good feel of the place in one day, but to really, truely experience it, you need at least two, even just to do the rims. We're only going to have about a day and a half when we go if we can go.

When to go really depends on your preferences. Summer months are easiest for most people's schedules, but that's also the hottest time of the year and the Grand Canyon can get hot. Spring tends to have more water, not that I remember being able to see more than a few glimpses of the water at the bottom of the canyon. But if you're going to try and do any of the hiking, donkey rides, or rafting, the extra water can be nice. Especially if you're going to one of the mini-waterfalls. :)

Fall I'm not sure, but in Winter the North Rim is closed due to snow. South rim is still open. I've seen pictures with a dusting of snow on the canyon walls and stuff and it looks beautiful. We're hoping that if we can go in Nov, there'll be a touch of snow. :)

The official website is at http://www.nps.gov/grca/index.htm and there's another one for just the South Rim hotels at http://www.grandcanyonlodges.com/

If you're staying on top June to September or it might get a little chilly! We went the beginning of June and it was low 70s up top and 93°F at the bottom! We hiked down and back but it's not for the faint at heart! Something not so rough that we found fun was the river raft tour from Page to Lee's Ferry. They bus you from the South rim up to Page. You raft down to Lee's Ferry with a catered picnic and some sight seeing. Then they bus you back from there! Beautiful!!
Here's the bottom at Bright Angel Campground:

And here's my little Chrissy:

We just came back from Vegas, and we did a one day White Water Rafting trip in Grand Canyon west rim. It's really beautiful (yup, and a big hole). I heard that south rim is the most popular tourist location, but the north rim is prettier.

What beautiful pictures! The pictures show the very reason why I want to see that big hole!;)

Thank you for all the responses. Anymore would be appreciated.

We went in early June and stayed in a campground outside of the south rim, I can't remember the name of the little town but it had an IMAX theatre and a really good steak house. Save up your money and do the helicopter ride over the grand canyon. Oh my gosh, it was an amazing experience. My husband was a little green when he got off the copter but I thougt it was great. Got a lot of nice pics to.
