I Want to See Mickey! Dining Report with Some Pics!

So glad that BOG was a good experience for you! Hoping to FP this for our November trip. Your cupcake looked delicious!

I am really excited that were having lunch there next month just to see it. I hope the food will be good too of course!! Great pictures!!

Crystal Palace

Let me preface this review by sharing that this was our last table service meal of the week. We were tired. We also had scheduled this kind of last minute (the week prior to our trip) because we had to do some shuffling to attend MNSSHP. Originally this particular meal would have been at Whispering Canyon Cafe.

Our ADR was at 7:25 and we arrived about 7:20. The front porch area was packed. That may have been an understatement. I was confused as to where the actual check in was, so I asked a CM holding the front door, and she directed me over to the side of the front door. And I proceeded to walk right past it, as it was completely hidden by waiting people. I waited behind 3-4 other families to get checked in; meanwhile Anna and Justin found some rare real estate along a rail to stand next to.

The lady in the little check in booth could barely hear me; I guess it was my Kentucky English :) Actually I think it was because it was just so noisy outside. We finally got checked in and was given a pager, and we waited. We waited probably 15-20 minutes to be called. We did end up with a nice view of the castle from our vantage point.

Now maybe it should have been a sign, when, Anna could see inside and she was saying stuff like "Mommy, What is that Pig's name again?" "Mommy, there is a donkey in there. What is his name?". Yep - she obviously isn't well versed in all things Winnie the Pooh!

Our pager went off a first time and we walked to the front door, only for it to quit and the CM to tell me they had no called anyone. About five minutes later it went off for an official time! We were led inside, and to the left of the building. It is really pretty inside. But we were quickly disappointed when they sat the THREE of us at a two top table. Not only that, but it's a two top with a booth on one side and a chair on the other. Poor Justin was left standing in the aisle while they went in hunt of a third chair. Which was placed like where the person in the booth would normally walk through to exit the table.

We wanted Anna in the aisle to make character meet and greets easier, so we just stayed with this seating arrangement. Justin was uncomfortable throughout the whole meal, and since I was in the booth seat, I basically felt like I was crawling through our neighbors dinner everytime I went to the buffet.

We ordered drinks. Anna and I had our usual, and Justin tried the Pomegranate Lemonade. He didn't like it though and after drinking a half glass, he requested a Diet coke for the rest of his meal. Our waiter was wonderful given all our awkward situations. He kept the table cleared well, considering the plates, camera, autograph book, etc.

I went to the buffet to get Anna's plate first, and as promised, I returned to the table to be told "Mommy I need to potty". Thankfully it was closer to us this time! While I had her in the potty, Justin went ahead and made his plate, and then I went up for my own plate. Justin had both meats from the carving station; that night it was turkey and roast beef. I had the baked chicken which I thought was amazing, and had a second piece later on. I also loved the rolls here, and had a few more than I should have  I also had some white rice. But honestly, how can you mess up chicken, rice, and rolls :) So I personally don't have much to report here food wise. Justin and Anna both ate without complaints.

Our first character was Tigger. Now with me holding the camera, this had him between Anna and Justin, and honestly we didn't want Justin in all the character photos. So after Tigger I handed off photo taking to Justin. So now he's in the awkward seat and having to deal with pictures and an autograph book. He was thrilled - Ha Ha!

IMG_4347aaa.jpglargethumb.jpg

Tigger was fun though; he bounced with Anna and she still talks about that.

Up next was Piglet. Piglet was a fun meet and greet for Anna; I'm thinking it's because Piglet is the closest to her size. So while we are waiting for Piglet to finish up at the table before us, the handler with Piglet was standing next to the pole beside our table (yes, did I mention that we had to dodge a pole on the opposite side of Justin?. So I'm in the booth and he is in my opening to the left and the pole to my right). Anyways, Anna really got smitten with the handler. She is telling him all about the castle, which is now changing colors. She just loved him. He was very attentive, and I tried a couple of times to get her to sit in her seat and leave him alone, but he said he didn't mind and he talked as much as she did. Later on, after we had our visit with Piglet, the handler returned with a sticker for Anna. She was so happy!

After Piglet, Pooh was close by, and when he got to the table before us, his handler told us he would be going to dance, but would start with us next time. But before the dance started, Pooh came to our table to visit, so it was nice to see him then! The music started, and Pooh grabbed Anna's hand, so for a minute I thought we were in for second magical moment. But alas, she ended up in the line with the other kids, which is fine too. The only thing I didn't like is that when the song ends, it felt like the kids were just left up front. From where I was sitting, I couldn't really see that area, so for a minute I felt a little unsure, but Justin quickly went up and found her and brought her back to her seat. However, she obviously enjoyed the dance, as you cannot deny these smiles!

Lastly we were waiting for Eeyore. He wasn't too far away, so we just patiently waited and got our picture and autograph. While we tallied up the bill, I excused myself to the restroom, and when I returned, Justin told me Tigger had come by again, and he was able to get a picture of Anna with Tigger, just the two of them.

So we go to exit CP, to find it's a complete DOWNPOUR outside. Our first rain of the week! We put on our ponchos and told Anna we were going to play in the rain - and she was so excited. It's all about perspective :)

So while the CP food was fine, I just don't think we would return, at least not for dinner. The main factor for us is that Anna just doesn't know those characters very well.

I'm happy that the awful table didn't derail a good filling meal and adorable character pictures!!! :good vibes:

The tables there are all close together! The last time we ate there, the table next to me was a party of 5 children and two adults. The entire time at least two of the five kids were fighting. I can't tell you how many times I got hit. After about the fourth time I turned around and told the parents. Their answer was, 'kids are kids. If you don't like it, move!'

The waiter heard them and took the cost of my meal off our bill. Some very sweet pixie dust!!

The tables there are all close together!

This is so true! I guess I just felt like we were on the spot, but everyone probably felt the way we did.

Our last day at Disney was spent at Downtown Disney. We are typically loyal Earl of Sandwich eaters, but knowing they had done away with our beloved Cannonball sandwich, I had decided I would like to try WPE. We came around a corner around 11am and saw it, and since we hadn't eaten any breakfast, we decided to go ahead and have an early lunch.

When we arrived, it was not busy at all. I think there was maybe one person in front of us ordering. It was also a nice surprise when friends of ours from back home showed up in line behind us! Their little boy is a year older than our daughter, so she was excited to see him. It was very nice that WPE had big tables, and we were able to eat with our friends for lunch.

This meal was OOP, but I guess we were in Disney Dining Plan mode, and we both ordered lunch and a lunch for Anna. In hindsite, Anna should have shared with us, as hers was basically wasted. The servings at WPE seemed quite large and sharable. Our total was $38 for this meal.

It's nice that WPE is a counter service meal, but has sit down meal qualities. Like they deliver your food!

Waiting with friends. You can see how unbusy it was.

Justin and I both had a classic cheese pizza. This was very good! Anna and I ended up sharing mine, but Justin managed to eat his completely. How he stays so skinny is beyond me.

IMG_4602.jpglargethumb.jpg

Anna had the kids Macaroni and Cheese. Now, I didn't try this till the end, when I realized she really just wanted pizza and wasn't going to do much with the mac and cheese. I didn't care for it. It looked pretty, but I didn't think it tasted all that great. Maybe it was just cold cause it had sat for a while by then.

IMG_4601.jpglargethumb.jpg

Overall we enjoyed our experience here. I liked my pizza, but would likely try something else on a return trip.

I decided to do a snack review in one post, as opposed to the days we actually ate them. Early in our trip, we did not make wise choices with our snack credits. We mostly used them on water because it was so hot. But as the week progressed we did better about paying OOP for water, and using our credits on other things.

At a snack cart in HS, Anna had a orange dreamsicle. It was so hot, and we werent doing well trying to get liquids down her, so we were getting kind of desperate. After these we took a break back to our resort! But she loved the popsicle, though it frustrated her at how fast it melted.

IMG_4421.jpglargethumb.jpg

Candy at MNSSHP:

I have to admit that I was skeptical about paying more money to go to this party. But it was so worth it! And we could have gotten a lot more candy had we wanted it, but by this point, we felt we had enough!

IMG_4487.JPGlargethumb.jpg

Also at MNSSHP, I didn't get a picture, but Anna and I both had the Candy Corn Ice cream at Storybook Treats. We paid OOP for these, and they were HUGE. Neither of us ate much of them honestly. It's not that they were bad. It was just still rather hot outside, they were melting, and I don't know - I just didn't feel like they were all that special :( Tasted like basic ice cream to me.

The American Dream -

THIS dessert was one that I wanted to make a point not to miss! It was so good! Unfortunately I got a call from work while I was drinking this, and Justin ended up stealing it from me :)

IMG_4509.jpglargethumb.jpg

So since he took my first dessert, I decided to try out this:

This place was so amazing! Stepping inside made me think of pancakes for some reason! Here is an extra pic I snapped while waiting in line:

Snacks to be continued in next post...

I'm really enjoying your review! You are definitely painting a picture. :thumbsup2 My DD is 13 now, so those constant potty breaks are a thing of the distant past for us but I was feeling your pain! :lmao: I'm a NICU nurse with a big passion for the preemies, so I had an extra good time watching Anna at WDW through your report! ;)

NICU Nurses rock and are truly the best!!! You can never say thank you enough to the person who takes care of your baby when you can't! We have come a long way, and have been so blessed! Anna is a former 27 weeker weighing 1 lb 2 oz and came home (94 days later) on only a multi vitamin :)

This is her at just a few days old, sporting her daddy's wedding band.

Okay I got off track from the dining reviews :) I'm just a little proud of my baby girl!

Back to the snacks...

What an awesome picture to illustrate just how tiny she truly was!! Thank you for sharing that!!

I love WGPE but I think their Mac n cheese is just not good!! My Mac n cheese lovin grandmunchkins hated it. After that we got them cheese pizza to share.

Looking forward to more snacks!

On our last MK day, we got to the park and went straight to Monsters Inc Laugh floor (via fastpass). We are waiting in the staging area when Anna says she needs to potty. Great! We begged her to hold it. I was nervous throughout the hold show, but she did fine. Justin was picked to be Randell. This was our first time doing the Laugh Floor - it was really cute!

We had hoped maybe Tomorrowland Terrace was open and we could grab a late breakfast. I'm not very familiar with this place and knew that allearsnet.com says it is open seasonally but I wasn't exactly sure what season that meant :) Apparently September was not the season, as it was all closed up. So we used their potty's and moved on. We headed towards the Lunching Pad to get some snacks, but they were about 15 minutes shy of opening. So we hoped on Carousel of Progress (I love this - just wish they would update the current scene). Afterwards we hit the Lunching Pad as soon as they opened.

The line had 2-3 people in front of me, but it moved slower than I anticipated. So by the time we got our food, we were jetting back to the hub and back down mainstreet to get to Anna's appointment at Harmony Barbershop.

That all said, I didn't get any pictures :( We had five credits left and since this was our last full day at a park, I just used them up. It was not a good choice in hindsight, but isn't that how things work? I had a sweet cream cheese pretzel. I LOVED this. It was good and filling and a perfect combination of sweet and salty for me. It was very fresh, but then again, they had just opened.

Anna and Justin each had a bag of chips; Anna had Cheetos and Justin had Doritos. We got Anna a frozen coca cola. Once again, we were desperate to get any fluids down her. Too bad she left the remainder in a window at the barber shop :( Justin and I shared a large diet coke. These snacks would tide us over till we had our BOG fastpass lunch.

Since I don't have any snack pics, here are some haircut pics :)

As soon as we arrived, the Move It! Shake It! Celebrate It! parade was going by, so it was like we had front row air conditioned seats :)

IMG_4230.jpglargethumb.jpg

Anna asked for no pixie dust, and hair like Frozen Anna's. They can't do braids at the barbershop, but they replicated it the best they could.

IMG_4239.jpglargethumb.jpg

The main reason we got a trim/style... cause our first one was here too :)

IMG_4634.JPGlargethumb.jpg

AFter our BOG fastpass, we wondered around MK for a while, waiting for our Anna and Else fastpasses at 3:30. Eventually we just found a seat in Storybook Circus, as it was hot and we were tired and we just wanted to rest. We went in the Story Book sweets tent and came out with some more snacks :)

Anna spied this cutie and decided she had to have it.

And here are some more goodies from the cases there:

IMG_4563.jpglargethumb.jpg

They had some really cute things! Wish I had been hungry, and not so hot.

Justin also got a frozen blue raspberry drink, which you can see he shared with Anna. Actually I took a drink and liked it so well, I went back in and got one too :)

IMG_4570.jpglargethumb.jpg

He would not approve of me posting that picture :)

So those are the last official snacks we had! I'm kind of sad that this report is over - it has helped me create the Disney magic alive!

Oh, I have to admit. For me, getting to the airport and getting this 'snack' - shew, Momma was happy :)

IMG_4615.jpglargethumb.jpg

Look at her so little, so alert and breathing on her own. I always talk to the babies when I'm caring for them and I love to tell them (and their moms and dads) to hang in there and maybe when you're bigger you can go to Disney World! And there she is! LOVE IT!!!
