I want to ride the cotton ball--A 4th of July family celebration! NEW PTR 8/31!!!

I know I have said it before but after those last pictures I just have to say it again. Those boys of yours are absolutely adorable.

Thanks! :goodvibes

You know I love Animal Kingdom days!!! Your pics from the Boneyard brought back fond memories for me -- the first time we ever went to Animal Kingdom, Connor was too short to ride Primeval Whirl, so I took him over to the Boneyard to play and called my mom to chat while Connor ran around enjoying himself. It was such a great time. :goodvibes

I guess I am going to have to buckle down and go see the Nemo musical -- I keep reading wonderful reviews of it.

Love the pic of the boys with the buffalo!

Yes it really is a nice place to just sit for a few minutes -- no brainer they can't get out, so it is a mental break too! and they love it!

Oh truly, do! We thought it was so very cute...

I wish we could have figured out a way to fit in both FOTLK and Nemo on our AK day but it was not to be.:sad2:

We had a heck of a time convincing Ian to leave the Boneyard. He loved it. Looks like your little boys loved it too.:thumbsup2

Disney meandering is one of the best types of meandering there is, just chilling and checking out all of the Disney details that we're often too rushed to notice.:goodvibes

Two updates for the price of one!!

Sounds like a fun day at AK. I'm glad you got to see Nemo. I saw it with Zach during our 07 trip. I still like FOTLK the best, but I thought Nemo was great too!

I thought the Wilderness Lodge was gorgeous when we were there for our WCC dinner. Inside, outside, everything about it was beautiful. And I love that you can take the boat to and from. :thumbsup2

Can't wait to hear about your next day. popcorn::

After a great evening at the Magic Kingdom, we were ready to head back to the wild side, and visit the Animal Kingdom...

This was a great show!!! I love the FOTLK, but Nemo was really special! It was very enjoyable and I loved the puppets and the way the CMs manipulated the puppets. They were very creative with the costumes, etc. The kids loved it. We had good seats, and I was glad we didn’t miss it.
If you have not been to the DinoBites stand for these ice cream sandwiches I HIGHLY recommend them. I promise I will do a better job taking food pictures in December! A little sticky, from ice cream and heat, we went straight to Kali. I thought the food was good, I loved having salad! and the mashed potatoes were yummy. To me BBQ is pretty standard, the ribs were not the best I have had, but overall no complaints, it was a fun place besides... DS7 was able to participate in the "race" ...

Maybe because we were full, maybe because we had just been camping the weekend before and had eaten more marshmallows than I care to remember, but we were just not feeling the camp fire event.

We got back to the resort, boys got baths, we all ate dessert, watched illuminations from the balcony, and the boys were in bed right after. DH and I made a few changes to our itinerary for the next two days, and we called it a night!

It sounds like a fabulous day! I really want to see Nemo on the next trip. I'm impressed after all that you even made the boat ride over to the fort (it's a pretty ride though!) but i hear you, we stayed there and never made it to the campfire event! Of course when all your ADR's are from 7-9, that'll happen :rotfl: I love the foot massage picture :)

OH yes, definitely get it next time!! That is what next trips are all about ;)
We did have a nice evening, and I am glad we did it that way.

HI! I like FOTLK too, it reminds me of a circus more, though, don't know why -- maybe because it comes at you in alll directions, which is really fun! I think it is a hard toss between the two! But I am glad we did Nemo, will go see FOTLK in December again! :thumbsup2

It is a pretty lodge, I am glad I have had the chance to stay there! The boat to the Fort was fun, I know you took the boat around too! It is nice to just enjoy!

Next day coming up tonight! :thumbsup2
But now I gotta high-tail it over to your TR! I am behind! :surfweb:

Thanks! It was a fun day. I think the campfire will be in order in December... seems more seasonal! Not sure if it is all year long... I am also looking at the WL "sleigh" ride!

Great update. What a fun day at AK- you did barely get wet, we were soaked. I am impressed you could stand to eat outside at AK--- we wanted AC bad.

I totally agree Nemo is a real treat.

SO this morning I am going to let you know how things can change 180 from what you may have planned in advance. I basically threw almost all of the plans we had made the final two days of our trip out the window!!! :rotfl:
But I am smiling, see??!! :teeth: and jumping up and down, see??!! :bounce: SO you gotta know things turned out "magically" --which, if you at Disney, is the best ending you could ask for. ;)

The final two days of our trip were completely changed! I had started to think about these changes when we arrived at Disney. Thinking that making the change would be a good idea considering that we were dealing with some of the largest crowds we were ever going to see... the heat, the indecisiveness and not 100% thrill with a few plans I had made, I went ahead and did some "editing" about or 3rd day there....

So, to remind you, HERE was our original plan:

Friday, 7/3
Morning EMH Disney Hollywood Studios
Lunch ADR = 50s Prime Time 12:15pm
Return to OKW around 3:30
R & R
Drive to Disney Boardwalk
Pizza dinner on the Boardwalk = Spoodles Pizza Window @ 6 - 7
Hang on the Boardwalk
OR
QS Dinner = World Showcase @ Epcot
Walk to Epcot for Illuminations
Saturday, 7/4
Magic Kingdom (yes, I know, and I don’t care.)
QS Lunch
Return to OKW around 2:30
R & R
Dinner ADR = Cinderella's Royal Table @ 5:25
Watch the fireworks, etc. etc.
Sunday, 7/5
EPCOT for a few hours
QS Lunch
Head to the Train Station!

INSTEAD, we went with the following:

July 3
DHS AM EMH

50s Prime Time Lunch

OKW pool time!

WPE dinner QS (yes, another meal there -- our second!)

Magic Kingdom - to see the 4th of July preview

July 4
Epcot

San Angels Cantina QS lunch

OKW/Resort pool time!

Back to Epcot for the special Illuminations fireworks

AND...

a SURPRISE dinner location....:rolleyes1

July 5
Contempo Cafe QS breakfast

Magic Kingdom

Casey's QS

WPE take away QS.... yes AGAIN.

Now, I wanted to set the stage for the final installments in my TR, so you knew how we had really turned our preplanned plan, on it's ear! :upsidedow
I am 100% happy that we did for a number of reasons, first and formost was going to the MK on July 4, and the CRT reservation for dinner -- I was worried about it and the timing, etc. I wanted more flexibility than CRT was going to allow. This ended up being a smart move after all, and I am sure you will see why!

So look out for my July 3rd TR update this evening!!! :thumbsup2

Okay, so we made it to EMH ropedrop at Hollywood Studios. This is the only park that I felt it was entirely necessary to be there in advance, TSM is really the focal point and highlight at DHS, and one of the only reasons to go IMO.... I think this is because the options for younger kids at DHS are less compared to other parks. We are past the Playhouse Disney stage (though we went in November) and for the 40" crowd things are limited. The shows are great, but again, once you have hit these, and enjoyed the atmosphere, there is not much more to it. Even lunch, QS, is not the greatest... now of course I am strictly speaking for my kids and family, so please don't take offense if you LOVE this park.... I do enjoy it, and will probably more so as my two boys get older, but for now, it is a half day TSM as many times as possible, a few others, a few shows, and that is it.

So, that morning worked out perfectly for us. We made it to the park, DH got FPs we got in line, he met us in line, and we were on TSM in no time at all! Just some 30 minutes of the park opening! Here are a few pics from TSM -- mostly from the first ride, maybe the second!!!

After our first round with TSM, we went over to Startours (Both DS's love this one, I find it jerky, but I can deal!)

Disney284.jpg

I had hoped to get a PhotoPass photographer here, but no one was around, it may have been too early, but I got a few...

We then got iced lattes and muffins with our snack credits, I had brought juice boxes for the boys, and then we got a SECOND set of FPs for TSM as soon as our window opened... the order of things is a bit blury for me at this point... I know that we rode the Great Movie Ride, that we did the backlot tour, and rode TSM again... We watched the Jedi Training Camp... We saw Roz....

Disney286.jpg

About this point we went to catch Indiana Jones, of which I know we caught the first show, because as soon as we got out, it was time for our Lunch ADR at 50s primetime!

Lunch was fun. Because the kid's club provides dinner, we had a set of kids TS credits left. So I booked 50s prime time, with the idea that DH and I would split a few items using our TIW card, and let the kids get lunch in -- at the same time we could enjoy this fun restaurant that we had never been to... it was great fun! We had a wonderful server, he was a riot.

Disney290.jpg

This is what DS7 thought of our server after he told him he had to eat all his vegetables!!!!

Disney292.jpg

Disney293.jpg

After lunch, we rode TSM, I took the boys to Disney Animation show, and DH went to ride the rock n roller coaster standby. We met back, strolled down to the entrance, and headed back to the resort. We went to the pool, and then drove over to WPE for a QS dinner. DH really really liked WPE.. One reason specifically was because he got so excited that we were getting a $70.00 meal!!!! I told you, these are the things that keep DH coming to Disney -- in his mind that is a "bargain", he likes the DDP for this reason, to get as much out of it as he can... remember the lobster rolls??!! I have to say that the WPE menu is sufficiently diverse that going twice really isn't repetative, which I do think can be the case with QS options at Disney... so pizza one afternoon, and salad and pasta the next... I had thought to go to Epcot, for the WShowcase restaurants, but I didn't want to park hop that much... in December when we stay at the BC, that will be more doable, and we will probably make a variety of stops there for QS options! I have yet to try those Fish and Chips in England!:goodvibes

THAT EVENING.... in the next post!!!! Coming right up!

So, after dinner, we headed over to the MK... NOW. It was HOT. Muggy hot this day. One of the hottest I think. We got to the MK about 8:00, an hour before Wishes/4th fireworks -- which started an hour earlier because of the holiday show...We slowly made our way up mainstreet. We got to the hub there in front of the castle and looked around. People were already sitting on the curbs, etc. We noticed that on the street, where they have the tape marking on the streets for the parade route, was empty. We wheeled the stroller into one corner just as main street splits (right next to the coffee kiosk towards adventureland) and we parked it. others filled in behind us, it was a little crowded.... 30 minutes later it was a LOT crowded...
Here is the castle just as it was getting to be dusk...

Disney297.jpg

The anticipation and energy in the air was amazing....

Disney299.jpg

DS4 and 7 did really well, considering that we sat/stood there for 45 minutes... DH tried to go get a set of FPs for Splash or Big Thunder, but he could hardly get over there... he was afraid he'd get stuck! SO he came back with Dole whips instead -- that helped!!! we stood, chatted with people around us, and just watched the area get more and more crowded.... I had never seen such a sight.... it truly gives meaning to the idea of SEA of PEOPLE!!!! :crowded::crowded::crowded: at about 8:45, there was a foot wide path (and I use that term loosely) on what used to be Mainstreet. Now it was a mass of sweaty faces... Take a look at these...

Disney300.jpg

Disney302.jpg

Disney303.jpg

I can simply say, that when the fireworks finally began, it was like nothing I had ever seen. they were on all sides of the park, the same show going off above the castle as always, but a mirrored show on the end of Mainstreet, above the train station entrance. For the finale, fireworks surrounded us in the sky. It was amazing. The fireworks were timed with the music, the castle turned into an american flag, the show was unbelievable. I tried to take some photos, nothing could do that evening justice... we have a video camera but we didn't bring it into the parks at all, even still I don't think any photo or video could capture what that evening was like.
So I won't bore you with many, but the Castle in red white and blue was reallly cool...

Disney308.jpg

Disney306.jpg

Disney313.jpg

Disney311.jpg

When the show was over, the crowd really moved slowly at first but did manage to break up. I think a lot of people left at this point, after the fireworks, having been there all day... We, on the other hand, went into Adventureland to see what DH had spied on his mission earlier: The HALL OF PRESIDENTS! Which officially opened that day! Talk about great timing! there was NO line, or overwhelming crowds once we got over the bridge to Frontierland so we went right in. We all went in to see the show and both boys watched and were very well behaved. DH and I really enjoyed it. It was a first for both of us as well. A perfect 4th of July event!

Disney314.jpg

After Hall of Presidents, we went to get frozen Orange slushies, I forget the name of the stand, but it is behind Aladdin's carpets! I think these are the absolute best... we got them a couple times... they are not "orange flavored", so they are really like orange juce and very refreshing on that hot night.... they were also selling red white and blue softserve swirl ice cream for the 4th.... :crazy2: I initially ordered one slushie on a snack credit, but realizing I wasn't going to share mine with DH :rolleyes1 , I asked to order a second... well the CM was very nice, he just gave me a second, and said Happy 4th of July!!! :goodvibes

Now all week the boys had been whining about toy swords... I am not against toy swords, but I am against $5.00 plastic ones that inevitably would break within an hour of play... but they had been SO very good, really, on this night, DH said lets go ride POTC, and get them those flippin' swords, then you go ride HM since you missed it, and we'll call it a night. WHO would have thought plastic swords could make them so happy. GOOD GRIEF. DS4 startled me with the level of enthusiasm in his response when DH told them we were going to pick these out... :p it was quite funny. So POTC and two plastic swords later, we decided to make a break for it, because Spectro was just starting, and rather than head deeper into the fray, we decided to make our way back to Mainstreet and the resort... We watched a bit of Spectro along the way, saw the last of the parade make its way up Mainstreet, and headed back to the resort, having had a great great night at the MK (again!!!) and two boys with plastic swords were asleep in the stroller before we even got to the Contemporary parking lot.

For the largest crowds I have EVER seen, it was not all that bad. ;) BUT we didn't have high expectations that night, only a few things to do, so it was easy to feel that way. If I had been there for the first day to tour the park, I doubt I would have felt the same way.

Next up!!! EPCOT on the 4th of JULY and a surprise dinner ADR that wasn't really an ADR!!! Oh!!! And a little thing called fireworks. :yay:

Till tomorrow!!!! :wave2:

Whew! All caught up!
I'm thinking one of those foot massages would be just the ticket right now!
It looks like you had a great night on the 3rd. I would love to be there for those fireworks sometime!
We have been there when it was shoulder to shoulder and honestly it scares me a little! Baylor got swept away from us in a crowd like that one time. I had to push my way through to get to him...
I love it that you got those boys some plastic swords, isn't it funny what floats their little boats.....

Great update. What a fun day at AK- you did barely get wet, we were soaked. I am impressed you could stand to eat outside at AK--- we wanted AC bad.

I totally agree Nemo is a real treat.

That day it wasn't soooo hot. The first day at AK, wow. ROAST. And fortunate for us we did get a total drenching !!!! In fact that second day, just as we sat for lunch, a rain cell came through, and that with a little breeze made it okay.. the next day, on the other hand, was really hot. So I was GLAD we had a TS lunch!!! :scared:

Ach! The anticipation!!

HELLO!!! Well it's posted now, hope you get a chance to read it! And Welcome!! Thanks for coming over!!

Drumroll.......................

I can't wait!popcorn::

Surprise! Sorry it took a little longer this evening! Hope it merits popcorn!!!

I'll be back this evening for more!

Allyson

Hi! Glad to know it! Gotta get myself over to your TR, too!!! :thumbsup2

HA!! Hope it didn't require that much popcorn!!

:surfweb:I'll be waiting.

TA DA!!!!!

:laundy:should keep me busy while I'm waiting for tonight!

Well, Laundry should be what I occupy myself with tonight vs. this update!!! :lmao:

Hi!!!! YES! it was an amazing show, and that crowd was a doosy. HEY!!! Are you back from Las Vegas???

Yes, those dang swords... they made them home... now, one is considerably shorter than the other :rotfl:

All I can say is...WOW. That's the biggest crowd I've ever seen!?! I can't even imagine what that was like. I know how hot is was there because of how hot it was during our trip! It seems though, that you made the best plan in changing your plan. Those fireworks seem AMAZING. I can only imagine. What a great day!!

Oh. And when your DSs are a bit bigger? Yes. HS will be on the most wanted list. I was sitting with DS today, while we were waiting for tires to be put on DH's truck this time, and we were talking about the family trip that I get to plan for 2010. HS was a DEFINITE MUST DO.:rotfl:It was really interesting to talk to him about it all...
