I want to ride the cotton ball--A 4th of July family celebration! NEW PTR 8/31!!!

I know, it's hateful but I do love other people's children having meltdowns. It makes me feel like we are somewhat normal.:goodvibes

Darling outfits on the boys, I would welcome a picture on my thread....

I'm so glad you enjoyed Cali Grill and that the sun came out in time for you to enjoy the evening. The sky behind the castle in that dusk picture is gorgeous!!

Sounds like a fun evening. Can't blame DS for trying a new strategy... there's a lot of fun ride- you have to do what you can. ;) But seriously, sorry he was being a pain. Sounds like you and DH handle it well. I can't get over the parents of the kid in the Prince Caspian area. Do people not realize they are impacting others by letting the kid cry? :confused3

Pirate cruise? Argh. pirate:

Aw I love the pic of the kiddos with Tigger! So cute.

 Oh it isn't hateful, they are human after all! And I guess when you are dealing with toddlers who feel the whole work circulates around them anyway, it can be challenging. He wasn't a screaming terror, but he was being stubborn and uncooperative. Who needs that? So we deflected, and that way it was not positive reinforcement for him being a twerp. the next evening you wouldn't believe it was the same kid...

HA! Yes, like I said he knows he is cute, so he thinks he knows how to use it !! ;) RE others, yes, I know, I am uber conscientious as a result of that and my own experiences seeing it. I know it is hard, (parenting in general, and especially so at Disney at times) I don't judge others, and in the moment it can be more difficult than others realize, but sometimes it seems obvious what to do... this time was one of those cases. The Unofficial guide has a great chapter about this kind of stuff that I find interesting... and they are not even child psychologists! Though I think they have one on staff....

ANYway, my little darling with horns righted himself that evening and the next day was lovely. This was his only "low" point... so I was happy for that! DH really sticks to his guns with this, he is really patient, or just as equally stubborn!!! :rotfl:

I have to say I am with Wigd -- I am glad my children aren't the only ones that act up at Disney. Kudos to you and DH for handling it so well though!

What a great MK day! Well, all but having to deal with your younger DS trying out his how-to-get-what-I-want strategy on you in the evening!

I agree with just spending time browsing your way through MK. It would be so fun to do that? Is your half marathon trip going to be a family trip?

I LOVE AM EMH at MK. We can't ever seem to make it there early either.:sad2: Always get there 5 to 10 minutes after it's open. Doesn't matter. You can still get so much done.

What great timing with CP and the rain! Seeing that parade in the rain was kinda funny. We saw it on our AM EMH day right before our lunch at the Plaza. Ours was blistering hot with sun beating down on us!

Love the fact that you can have a date night! I never feel right even thinking about it because DS would be by himself in a place like the Neverland Club, and that just doesn't seem right. It would be great if he had a brother or sister. Oh well.

Way to go in your dealing with your DS. It's rough business balancing parenting and vacationing. Sounds like you did a great job.:thumbsup2

I'm glad you enjoyed your dinner at Cali Grill, I want to try there someday soon!

I have to say, even though your DS4 was in a mood you handled it really well! It's nice to hear about that, I saw some truly horrific parenting skills on my last trip. :scared1: It's nice to hear about sane parents. Kids will be kids, even at Disney.

We had the same issue with getting to the MK via car on our last day. I misjudged the amount of time it would take to park at the TTC, and then take the monorail to MK and we were 15 minutes late for our 8:05 breakfast ressie.:sad2:

Such sweet pictures in the CP!:goodvibes

Your Cali dinner sounds devine. Did the boys like the kids club?

I don't know how anyone remembers this...I certainly don't-- but my first trip to MK I was 5 and it was 1975. I have 3 older brothers who used to terrorize me to no end ( I was a princess: yeah right :rotfl:.) While in the stretching room I apparently started to lose it (no doubt to them scaring me :sad2:) and my mother gave me a lifesaver and I was fine! :thumbsup2 She and my father took turns the rest of the day with me on IASW!! :rotfl: Of course the HM is one of my favorite rides and I could spend hours in there!!

We only did one on the DDP and paid OOP with the TIW card for the rest. I am not sure I would even use the DP next time for a signature, unless I was on the DXDDP. I don't think it is the best value for the credits on the basic plan. But more on that at the end of my TR. Regardless, it was an enjoyable meal and time for us to enjoy uninterrupted conversation :thumbsup2

Well, this is where we had our one bad evening if you will...
When he realized that he wasn't going to ride Buzz afterall, he started wailing, but DH and I knew we had plenty of time to come back again, vs. reward him for his terrible behavior by taking him to ride Buzz. I really thought at first he was tired, over stimulated, but DH reminded me that he had a nap, and so it became apparent he was trying a strategy to get what he wanted. Which backfired.

So DH and I figured we'd try it again... and we did ... the next evening!! Talk about 180 difference! But before that, we had a pirate cruise and breakfast! Or did we .... ??????? Find out tomorrow!!!!

Every time I look at the signatures I figure they have to be OOP to make sense. It sounds like a lovely evening!

Way to hold firm with DS4. :thumbsup2 I am so grateful this trip we didn't have that, I actually expected a little bit out of DS8 who does NOT do well when things don't go the way he assumes they will. It is such a drag, as a parent, as it often curtails your own plans and day/evening but is SUCH the right thing to do!

I swear my boys have those same shorts that yours are wearing in the pics.

Just a few photos as it was getting dark...

Disney183.jpg

That is an unbelievable shot. It is gorgeous. I love it. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I cannot believe how much you got done before breakfast! I feel the same way if I was to take a solo, or adult (girl!) only trip! Oh to be able to just peruse the shops!

How fortuitous, the timing of your breakfast reservation and what great pics!

Hey! Thanks! We did ride what we wanted to, so that was the plus, and the timing was pure luck!

I have to say I am with Wigd -- I am glad my children aren't the only ones that act up at Disney. Kudos to you and DH for handling it so well though!

HA!!! I know, I have been on both sides, too :goodvibes

What a great MK day! Well, all but having to deal with your younger DS trying out his how-to-get-what-I-want strategy on you in the evening!

Thanks! All in all, even with him being a twerp, it still was a great first day at the MK!!!

I agree with just spending time browsing your way through MK. It would be so fun to do that? Is your half marathon trip going to be a family trip?

YES, I really want to do a solo trip or a trip with a DIS meet, or something like that... I was thinking the March event would be a goal I could shoot for, and hope that some deals come my way with the room, etc. Definitely not with kids. With these APs I want to squeeze something in, cheaper, just because, and I want to do those kinda things, just meander! Epcot AND MK in particular! I have to crunch numbers in the fall, I still have to get the Christmas plans all shored up!! :goodvibes

I LOVE AM EMH at MK. We can't ever seem to make it there early either.:sad2: Always get there 5 to 10 minutes after it's open. Doesn't matter. You can still get so much done.

TOTALLY. We rolled in just as they opened and it was perfect.

Oh it was pure luck of course, but I was so grateful!

The whole date night with one, I get that -- ouch :sad2: that would be rough, but I bet they have strategies for that.... Initially the plan was because it was DH's REAL birthday birthday, but when we changed dates I just kept the plans. Hey, soon enough on the sibling thing :goodvibes

With the parenting and vacationing, AMEN. It is hard, and I think so many people feel that pressure more with Disney because of the cost, and the sacrifice. We knew we'd be back, so it wasn't hard to decide.

THanks! It was very very good!!! Did you choose it for your September trip??!!

You are RIGHT, LL, Kids will be kids even at Disney!!!!

Oh nuts! Did they squeeze you in?

California Grille was great! :thumbsup2

And yes! They really did like it! They had a good time, ate dinner, and it worked out perfectly!

OH me too, my favorite MK moment (well it was Disney LAND) was the HM.... I was 6! Lifesavers.... hmmm... I'll have to remember that!!

Yes, I know... I was thinking that, if only because we spent more OOP anyway... BUT I will probably consider doing it that way in December, and using the credits for other TS meals... We'll see I am going to play around with all this at the end of this report....

Thanks for the comments about the boys, you are right, it isn't ideal always, but if you have to do it, then that is the best answer... DH really is good at this, but again, I think this is because he is equally stubborn!! ;)

We got these from a catalog... my kids clothing weakness.... MiniBoden... but they have online sales that are awesome... and they supply my young ones with plenty of BOY PRIS!!!!!!! :lmao: (if you are familiar with WigD's TR quest for these fashion-forward clothing items for men!!!!) :rotfl:

Hi everyone, I have to get back on top of all my reading this evening, but I do hope to post day 4 tonight! Busy with a few Dr. appointments, the Pool (fabulous weather today!!) and now Karate... I can't wait to catch up on all the posts and updates that I have missed last night and today! :surfweb: I have been a bit neglectful, so I will catch up tonight!! :thumbsup2

Love Cali Grill! So glad you and your DH got to enjoy it. It has such wonderful food! We tried to get in for our upcoming August trip but couldn't get an ADR. Bummer. But oh the memories of it!

And I did a solo trip last year and much like you said I spent lots of time checking out the details. Just being able to look, really really look, at the window displays alone on Main Street was so much fun. No one dragging me or rolling their eyes at me to hurry up! I highly recommend a solo trip for any Disney lovin' Mom, it is a great little break/escape/adventure!

Good for you for waiting till the next day to do Buzz and taking your little guy home. Give them an inch they'll take a mile next time!

Allyson

I am very very familiar with miniboden! Yep, I (well they) DO have the same shorts :) although they use them as jammie bottoms more often than not lol.

I will confess though, Pumpkin Patch has taken it's place in my heart. Why is it all the really cool kids clothes are british or autralian? I don't get it. PP is in the mall and has REALLY great sales (compared to MB even with coupons). I will say the quality of the boden stuff is just the best, love it!

How funny is that!!! my guys use them as jammies too, lounge wear in the summer!!! perfect :thumbsup2 I have heard of Pumpkin Patch, will have to check them out -- I like Gap as well, they too have good deals, but with oBden, it is just like you say the quality, excellent. I can justify buying the clothes b/c I know I will get two wearers out of them!!! I pulled out stuff for the younger boy that still looks brand new...after DS7 wore them... they don't look worn at all. And each can get two years out of the sizes, so that is really helpful! :upsidedow
