I want to ride the cotton ball--A 4th of July family celebration! NEW PTR 8/31!!!

Oh that is TOOOO funny. Yes I know it is a common phrase... "Damn, Blasted : INSERT TOY TYPE THAT YOU HAVE EITHER STUBBED YOUR TOE ON, STEPPED ON, PICKED UP FOR THE UMPTEENTH TIME...etc!" Don't we mom's know it!! :) I was just so amused that the plastic toy sword was so coveted!!! OF course DH7 didn't see the LGM package that Connor scored... and OH I am so glad he did not... tell me, Jackie, do you find LGM in the darndest places??!! :lmao: :rotfl2:

:lmao: Oh, you know those LGM turn up everywhere!!! Even in his sister's room! :confused3

Nah, nothing to learn -- remember: We were there in NOVEMBER. I bought $60.00 of plastic lightsabers that trip, and $45.00 of gargantuan Pooh Bear. AND I couldn't find my 4 parks one world CD to BUY this trip... so if I Hadn't been there in NOV, I would have set myself back another 150.00 easily!!!

Okay, that makes me feel better for some reason. ;)

Don't let me tell you what my ornament budget is looking like.... :rolleyes1

But you will have the prettiest Christmas tree in Maryland!!! :thumbsup2

Cruel and unusual punishment is what I call it!

OH okay, okay, HAVE it your way :flower3:

I PROMISE it will be launched at .................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

:rotfl2:

Stay TUNED... MAYBE tonight, we'll see :rolleyes1

Thanks for the dining plan breakdown. You really saved a big chunk of change! I believe we did too, but I never actually figured it out. Its nice to see it in black and white.:thumbsup2

Ooh, a solo trip in March! This will definitely be a Disney year, you lucky girl.:goodvibes Can't wait to hear your final musings and all of the planning for your December trip.:yay:

HI there! I missed your post between posts! Well I didn't take notice last trip so this time I really wanted to because I was curious. I probably needed to tally it as I went, but I think I got the totals right...

I have one last post and eventually when I get my PhotoPass Share CD I can post those too, then this TR will be DONE!! :thumbsup2

We'll see about March, but planning for the December trip is already underway in my head!! NEW PTR soon....

:lmao: Oh, you know those LGM turn up everywhere!!! Even in his sister's room! :confused3

I have no doubt they are everwhere!!! :rotfl:

I hope to have a really Mickey tree!!!! :cloud9: 40% off ornaments I hear.... :yay:

I love seeing all the dining plan calculations written out! Yay for saving money!!

I can't wait for your December PTR to start...just saying. :rolleyes1

Yay! Start your Christmas planning. I'm already planning mine in my head even though we haven't even had our October trip yet!! (And I can't wait to see what you come up with on the binder-thingy front! Perhaps some Santa hats on your Mickeys are in order?? :lmao:)

Sounds like you did well on the dining plan. We're trying the deluxe plan this year, so I'm interested to see how we do. We're doing 3 signature meals (if you include CRT as a signature....), and 6 others so I see a dining review in my future! I'm usually not someone who pays attention to prices but I'm going to try just to see how we do.

I know I know!!! I hope to get it rolling this week for sure, I am going to finish my final post tonight, and put it up tomorrow (have to load a few photos)...

Re the DDP, yes, it is the first time I have paid attention! I really will be watching it for our DECEMBER trip... :thumbsup2

YOU are so funny -- I hate to say it but I may reused my Binder-thingy cover as is, but I will definitely redo all the insides!! AND of course I will have a Christmas themed "cover page"!!! I did one for the 4th trip! So don't worry I will display it in all its glory!! THAT and my tree and other goofy Christmas plans , Tshirts, etc.! We really really tossed the DlxDDP around too, but I think we would pay less for the basic and some OOP vs. the DlxDDP for four.... I am going to check though, on the two in comparison, once I line up all my ADRs... Great! DO a dining review do! :yay:

Christmas PTR will come soon, this week.... ;)

A solo trip for the half marathon?! That sounds like fun (minus the whole running part ;) )

I can't get over the savings of renting the DVC points. Amazing. And to have all that extra room?! Wow. You are going to love BCV in December!

Glad you got your $$ worth out of the DP. You're making me hungry thinking of all that eating!

Did I read you are going back to school today? Have fun!

Looking forward to your Dec PTR!! popcorn::

Great ending to your report! Very detailed and precise with your figures! :thumbsup2
Now....where is that PTR? :rotfl:
BC will be so pretty for the holidays! I remember one of the Samantha Brown specials (that I of course have saved on my DVR) and the Boardwalk and BC were very festive (or shall I say had festoond balconies? :rotfl::rotfl: )

Oh, I know, the running.... right... gotta really convince myself of that!! :rotfl: Yes we had official "work" week with teachers returning this week. It has kicked my butt! I am on the Dis for the first time since Sunday! :surfweb:
Starting my PTR this weekend, PROMISE!

YES I love the festoon-ing :) I can't wait for DECEMBER and I can't wait to start my PTR!!! SO it is coming this weekend... just gotta catch my breath... this week has been overdrive!

Hi!! :wave2: Back just in time for the end... :rolleyes1

I'm doing my best to get caught up on my TR and all the other PTR/TRs I'm reading. And then stay caught up...

Sounds like you had an amazing 4th of July at Epcot. Le Cellier with no ADR! Amazing!! :cool1:

Thanks for the breakdown on your expenses. I'm sure we saved money with the DDP but I haven't totalled everything up yet - I'll try to do that for my report recap - which is slowly coming to an end. :rolleyes1

Can't wait to hear about your December trip. :goodvibes It looks like you've started a PTR but it doesn't seem to be linked. :confused3 I'll have to go looking. ;)

Hi! I found your report and read through page 3...great so far-I want to go back and read the rest...but it sounds like you're finishing up...:confused3...I guess I'm late for the party...

I think the car train is an intriguing idea-I know my son would love it and probably my daughter as she hates flying...:lmao: (We live outside Philadelphia-so it would be doable...)

I'm so glad you liked Sanaa-we really liked it as well-weren't the views of the animals absolutely amazing...we saw more giraffes there during our lunch than the whole week from our balcony at Jambo house...:lmao:which was amazing nontheless...

I have to go back and check out the rest of your TR even if I am a bit late...popcorn::

Hello! Well I have not started the PTR YET. Looking at tomorrow... it will be 110 days after all :rotfl: Betcha can't tell whose counting...:rolleyes1
I am waiting to get my Photopass pics back, but I may have to add them after the "end" -- I have one more post with a few pics to share tomorrow, then I may add them to my new PTR at this point, which is fine! I have a mini TR to add as well, so I better get my skates on!

Yes, I have been catching up still, too! And I am staying on top of most! I liked totaling the expenses too, just to see what is what, though I didn't do it as closely as I could have.

Hello, WELCOME!!! That is okay, come on over! It is just wrapping up but the fun will continue in a NEW PTR for December :thumbsup2

Car Train was reallly cool! We really enjoyed it. And yes, Sanaa was fabulous! Wow, Jambo house! Cool! Sounds like a great view, hey it looked like a neat view, the AKL and AKV's are really nice -- a very pretty resort!

Hope you keep reading and join me on the next one! Coming up SOON! :yay:

So today is 110 days until we return to Disney World...

I can’t believe it!!!!! :cloud9:

We booked our new trip back in March of last year, and it was a totally unexpected trip that my DH planned. Rather that my DH booked… you KNOW who will be doing all the planning! :lmao: So with that in mind, I have decided it is time to officially “end” this TR!
Now I do have a photo pass CD coming in the mail, hopefully it will arrive this week sometime, so I will post those pics at the end, when I get them, and I will let everyone know.
So for now, I want to just put down a few final notes about our trip… hopefully they will be useful to someone, and fun for me to go back and look at, and maybe you guys will agree! :)

Traveling over the 4th of July….

I was worried. I really should not have been. It was a GREAT week to be at WDW! The days leading up to the Holiday were not very crowded, and at least the way we tour parks, I really only noticed one or two days/evenings where I felt there were crowds that you had to really contend with… The weather (humid) may have impacted how we felt about “crowds”. Meaning, it is harder to want to deal with crowds of people when the heat is really unbearable! :faint: I can tolerate crowds if I am not sweating! Which is a good thing, because you know at Christmas there will be crowds!!! :santa:

The resorts really did some nice games and fun treats for guests on the 4th, I loved that they had games, snacks, and music at the pool. I thought the special 4th of July fireworks were amazing, and it was fun walking around the parks seeing everyone who was dressed patriotically in Red White and Blue!

Visiting WDW in JULY….

This is a hard one. We had never visited in the summer, only the Fall… FWF was always our reason for the visit!!! I think hot and humid requires leaving the park and taking a break and then returning in the evening. I don’t know how you could manage the trip otherwise. For those who stayed the whole day, and who had little kids, I think it may have been less “Magical”… I have been there – staying all day because we didn’t get park hoppers, and didn’t want to ride the bus all the way back to the resort… In November it was really tiring. In July it would have been exhausting and unpleasant, NO question. What a relief it was to have that option! I think I prefer the fall, but when we go this coming summer, it will be earlier, so perhaps not as hot, though after reading other TRs it seems June isn't much better!

Transportation Car or ME and Busses …

We used the ME and park transportation this past November. I enjoyed having the transportation taken care of for us, more or less. I LIKED that the busses could drop you relatively close to the entrance (closer in most cases!) and I felt we really didn’t have to wait too long for the busses generally speaking. I had heard horror stories about SSR busses when we were there last Nov, and I was pleasantly surprised… and apparently e were there during a busy time (Jersey Week). A few busses we had to wait, with no room, and with the scooters that had to be loaded, and sometimes no seats, but mostly it was not a problem – we felt we could deal with that in the AM and in the PM for arrivals and returns. With the busses, though, I felt that the time it took to get the bus to and from the park in the middle of the day was a long time to wait and too much time to sacrifice going to and from the park and resort during the day (especially since we were at SSR). And as a result, we didn’t take a mid day break from the parks. We used “dinner” as our break, and often we were still in the middle of it all, and it was a little sensory overload at times. We had fun, but we felt “tired” at the end of our trip. :guilty: But this trip we had the car, and having the car was tremendous. :) I would never do it any other way if we stay again at a resort that is not close in (like OKW or SSR)… Now if we stay at the WL or Poly or Contemporary, I would consider forgoing the car, but I am not sure my DH would… But even this December, with us at the Beach Club, the car is a big plus. :thumbsup2

TOURING the Parks

So as I mentioned above, at the end of our November trip we were WIPED OUT. :sad2: It was constant, for 8 days. We ended up bailing on one evening plan, for the fact that we were just too tired to go back to DHS. And that was apparent by the middle of the week. In the effort to get everything into every possible moment, you can really lose site of a “vacation” – did I mention we didn’t use the pool ONCE that trip??!! So that being said, when I got ready for this trip I knew, knew, knew that it would have to be different, and having done my research, and bought a few books, I was prepared! Well as prepared as one can be five months out... :lmao: In the end, it was easy knowing we would have another trip soon, and that we could go back and forth from our resort. The villa was spacious, we had room to relax, a big requirement for DH, and we could take in the pool, etc. in the middle of the day, and then we felt we could hit the parks again in the evening with the kids rested and excited to do so. It made the trip such a better time for all. :cool2: I think having the ability to “park hop” also helped us to know we had “options” on any given day. We were able to visit more than one park a day IF we wanted to… that was a great feature, and we didn’t really realize how much so until we had them again. In the past we did have hoppers, but last Nov I figured we wouldn’t do it with our kids being so young. I was wrong!! It is always good to have options at WDW! :thumbsup2

Dining

So we brought food from home, having a cooler in our car on the car train was a great plus, and we had the DDP. I have already discussed the DDP, but in terms of dining in general, I think that Disney does a good job in providing you options that meet everyone’s needs. QS in particular. While there are some pretty standard fare options, and some of the options are exactly the same in each park, there is still enough variety if you plan it out and are creative. The meal plan "desserts" for QS meals leaves something to be desired in most locations, but overall it was fine. TS as well. I found plenty of great choices that met my family’s tastes and interests! am of course very glad that the 90 days has gone back to 180… I just wish it was being set up BEFORE December!!! Ah well, I have been practicing with the online dining system!!! :surfweb:

We did bring food, and some we never touched. I will be bringing different items this next trip, but I will report on that in my new PTR! Christmas calls for a whole new kind of planning!!! :santa:

The Resort choice….

If you recall, we scored a super deal on OKW. :thumbsup2 Having never stayed there, and not being too thrilled about the distance from parks, I must say I really was pleasantly surprised. ::yes:: I felt the public spaces were/are FAR TOO SMALL for the size of the resort. I think SSR is better in that respect, but even still the SSR areas are also a bit small. I think the pool deck areas are too small for the resort size, but still, you feel the Disney magic around you at OKW, and though the theme isn’t so obvious, it still has a great feeling… music piped in, decoration details, those little things that make Disney “Disney”. :goodvibes So we LOVED the 2 bedroom villa, and after this, it will be hard to go back to a resort room!! Even a studio, but we’ll see. Part of a vacation to DH is having that space, so I suspect that will be the way it is for us from now on. However, I would have been perfectly happy in a room, and that is because it is Disney after all! I have only stayed at deluxe resorts, but I am really interested in the other resorts, too. Our decisions have mostly been due to who we traveled with and deals we received, and not because we won’t stay anywhere else… Personally, I have no desire to stay at the Grand Floridian. My DH thought it looked like a retirement center (CAN you believe that??!!) and that it was “dated” – I said well it IS supposed to look Victorian, dear, and so I guess you can tell his taste!!! The moderates and values look great and get great reviews. With a car, staying at one would be doable… I love the pirate rooms and pool at CBR!!! And I love the look of Port Orleans! But having space is very important to the man with the pocketbook, so we’ll see!

Final Thoughts on the vacation…

Well, we did accomplish my most important goal: :yay: To have a restful trip to WDW! Sure, there were a few crazy moments, The Haunted House escapade, the crabby toddler on the BTMRR, me not remembering where we parked our car in the Epcot Parking lot on the 4th of July (oh, did I forget to mention that??!! :scared1: ) but generally speaking, we really had a fabulous, fabulous trip. DH had his extra room, well, we all had extra room! And we could be leisurely on our trip, we didn’t have to rush too much, we saw things at the park we didn’t last time, and we left relaxed. WHAT a plus! And sure we missed a few things, but it was easy to make decisions that allowed us to skip stuff, because we knew that we could catch them in December, along with all the exciting new things that we will see at Christmas time… :santa:

So I am going to leave you and this TR FOR NOW.....

As soon as I get my Photo CD, I will post the pics here… BUT, for NOW, stay tuned for a NEW

CHRISTMAS

PTR... HO, HO, HO!!

I've read through page 10 and just wanted to make a couple of comments while I remember...

your boys really are cuties...:goodvibes

We ate at several of the same places up to this point...Sanaa, Chefs, the Wave...;) I loved Sanaa and had mixed feelings on Chefs (great atmosphere-DS loved Remy-but I thought the food was just ok) and the Wave-although I did think the Wave's food was very good...(WE loved the crepes though too...:lmao:

I was really interested in your review of Tokyo Dining...we were "stuck" in Japan one night during the rain in Epcot-I love the store there-big trouble for me...:goodvibes and DD and I went up the balcony and I thought Tokyo Dining looked really cool-I mostly read reviews for Teppan-I liked reading your thoughts on TD-we'll have to put this on our to do list...(there is a restaurant we took DS to in London (he was only 3 1/2 but he remembers it...:confused3) called yo Sushi-were the Sushi came around on little boats-it was pretty good too...:goodvibes

Like MiniBoden as well-Tea & Co is fun-good sales...I have to check out the Pumpkin Patch...

You sounded like you had all kinds of fun at the MK:thumbsup2---sorry about the cancellation of the Pirates Cruise at GF-I'm surprised they didn't handle it with more aplomb...have you heard about the Pirates and Pals Wishes cruise or the Pirates League...both are a hoot...:goodvibes

Looking forward to more reading...popcorn::

I just loved reading along with you and I'm sorry to see your TR end but I'm so excited about you starting a PTR!!

I definitely agree with you on the value of the dining plan even though I often splurge and go ahead and get Deluxe dining!! I also love having my own car on property and will most likely never go on a trip to Disney without my own personal vehicle! The freedom it gives me and the quickness of not having to wait for a bus or walk to a bus stop is amazing!!

I really can't wait to head to SSR! You have given good reviews of it and that makes me very happy!

Finished up your wonderful TR...I have to say that you handled the crowds on the 4th with a lot of grace...:goodvibes

I am sure that it is official now...I am the only (at least on these boards...) who has never eaten at Le Cellier...:confused3 kudos to you on scoring that...(I don't know now whether I should make it a point to eat there next time...or be an eccentric and purposely never eat there...:rotfl2:

Can't wait to read your TR for Christmas time-we were there the week before Christmas in 2006 and it was absolutely lovely...:goodvibes-You'll have a blast...

(btw-I have a bit of a California fetish-I envy your Palm Springs trip-have never been....Have a fabulous time! :woohoo:)

Hello! So glad you read this TR!!! It was fun to write -- but I have had a few great models to follow, and they got me hooked on this! RE the restaurants, we really liked the Wave, but maybe it was the dishes? I kinda think I liked it better the first time, but DH was ready to book it twice this coming trip and I had to put my foot down!! RE Tokyo Dining, very good sushi, shashimi and tempura. We loved it. I know Yo Sushi very well! We have traveled to Great Britain/London/Oxford quite a few times.. we have friends who live in Oxford, and London is a wonderful city... We mostly go to Edinburgh for the fringe festival every other August... Isn't it funny to say you were "stuck" in Japan??!! Gotta love the WS!

Yeah, we were bummed by the cruise, but I may schedule it for December, we'll see -- Don't know about the other cruise you mentioned, I'll have to check it out, but I don't think we'll be doing the pirate's league.... I just don't think DS's would be able to sit still for all that!! Not really engaged by pirates.... I did the cruise b/c I thought they'd like the fun on the boat and the scavenger hunt!

I know Tea as well -- they do have adorable stuff! :thumbsup2

Awww Thanks Jen!!! I am excited to start the new one too!!! Kinda funny that it just ends and starts so quickly! I really would love to do the DlxDDP, but I think it would be too much food for the kids, and the cost for all of us is staggering... But as adults, of course!!! :thumbsup2 I am right there with you, Christine, and Paula!!! :rotfl: You are going to love SSR. I think it is really really quite pretty. :)

HA! Well we almost missed Le Cellier too! SO it was a surprise... BUT I am hooked! Aw, you gotta try it! Seriously! Really quite good!

Thanks!! Oooh! Were you? Great! You can give me some tips!!! I have been reading that on your PTR (I had to go back and get the story!!!) so you can fill me in as I go!

RE Cali -- well we got back a few weeks ago, and I will be kicking off my NEW PTR with a mini TR from our trip out west!! Palm Springs is so much fun... for adults. Never would I bring my kids there... just not enough to do.. so this was a DH and I getaway... It was like Disney Dining for Adults ... :rolleyes1 YOU'LL see!!! ;)
