I want to ride the cotton ball--A 4th of July family celebration! NEW PTR 8/31!!!

Great trip report...I just had to reply and say that my ds4 also liked to ride the "big cotton ball"!!!LOL
Must be a common term that alot of 4yr. olds use...who knew that is wasn't just my ds!!! LOL

Wow that sounds like some wonderful fireworks. Someday...I totally agree to go on a day like that with little expectations is what is important to remember.

I know exactly the stand with the slushies... although I am not a fan of the orange (I traded it away for the raspberry).

Wolfgang Puck Express is a fantastic deal.... my dh loved it too! I am sure we will be back there again!

Hi!!!! YES! it was an amazing show, and that crowd was a doosy. HEY!!! Are you back from Las Vegas???

Yes, those dang swords... they made them home... now, one is considerably shorter than the other :rotfl:

We are back, and I am pooped!
I'm laughing about the short sword, we were cleaning out Baylor's toy room and found a half sword lurking in a toy box....:lmao:

Disney311.jpg

That is just beautiful!!
Now all week the boys had been whining about toy swords... I am not against toy swords, but I am against $5.00 plastic ones that inevitably would break within an hour of play... but they had been SO very good, really, on this night, DH said lets go ride POTC, and get them those flippin' swords, then you go ride HM since you missed it, and we'll call it a night. WHO would have thought plastic swords could make them so happy. GOOD GRIEF. DS4 startled me with the level of enthusiasm in his response when DH told them we were going to pick these out... :p it was quite funny.

Oh, I have so been there! I can't tell you how many plastic swords (and tiaras...) I've bought that have broken (or been lost) within a very short time! But they make them so darn happy when you get them, don't they. :) The things we do for our kids....

I agree about HS. I haven't been there in years but that was always my least favorite park and was 1/2 day at best. We will be going next trip so I will see if I still feel that way.

I have been to MK on 7/3 and 7/4 in the early 90's and still have the pics somewhere of wall to wall people. Sounds like you had a great time tho.

Oh goody, a magical surprise to look forward to! :yay:

Looks like another fun day in the World! I love all the pics of your boys b/c they are so cute but the one of them on the Star Wars speeder (or whatever it is called) is ADORABLE! Their little faces are priceless!

50's Primetime looks fun. I'd make the same face over vegetables. Veggies on vacation??? :scared:

Holy mackerel that is a LOT of people waiting for the fireworks! :scared1:

Glad you liked Hall of Presidents. What did you think of the Obama figure? Did you think it looks like him? I guess there's been a lot of discussion on this matter?

Can't wait for more. A surprise dinner location that isn't an ADR... Hmm.....

just caught up with your latest update--what a wonderful day!! So glad the change of plans worked out for you!!:goodvibes

You weren't kidding when you said you had changed your plans around!

Your morning at DHS sounds like a lot of fun! I can't believe how many times you managed to squeeze TSM in and lunch looks like a blast! I so want to eat at 50's Primetime someday!

Of course what shocks me the most is the sea of people!!! My goodness it was crowded, but the fireworks sound spectacular and worth the wait and hassle!

Boys and their swords -- I can identify!

I think you had the right attitude with the crowds. You can't expect to whip around the park on a night like that and get everything done. Someday I'd like to go to Disney on all the Holidays, Christmas being my big one and I think if you have the right frame of mind that anything is manageable!

Finishing off the night with the Hall of Presidents sounds wonderful! I really can't wait to see the updates in the Fall. :goodvibes

Beautiful castle pictures! :thumbsup2
I am not sure if I could manage those crowds and then with the heat added in! Eeek!! It sure looked worth it though...and like LL said if you are in the right frame of mind :worship:

Tracy

Hey! I'm caught up and I have to agree with the Star Wars speedracer thingie pic -- that's a keeper! :goodvibes

That pic of the castle at dusk is beautiful. Those crowds were crazy, almost makes me rethink going at Christmas time.... almost! The fireworks sound just spectacular! I usually tear up at events like that  I'm such a sap. :rotfl:

What a fantastic day! That sounds like it was so fun! TSM, good lunch, extra fabulous Wishes AND plastic swords! Whew! You jam packed a lot of fun in there! The fireworks sound great! And love the castle pics, I'm a sucker for a castle pic! :lovestruc

What an amazing day!! TSM, 4th of July fireworks, Hall of Presidents!! :thumbsup2

I can't believe the crowds! :scared1: My friend's daughter's birthday is July 5th and they've been talking about celebrating her 10th birthday at Disney in 2011. Not sure if I want to face that though... :scared:

I'm glad you guys had an amazing day!! Changes of plans can be a good thing... or so people tell me. :rolleyes1

All I can say is...WOW. That's the biggest crowd I've ever seen!?! I can't even imagine what that was like. I know how hot is was there because of how hot it was during our trip! It seems though, that you made the best plan in changing your plan. Those fireworks seem AMAZING. I can only imagine. What a great day!!

Oh. And when your DSs are a bit bigger? Yes. HS will be on the most wanted list. I was sitting with DS today, while we were waiting for tires to be put on DH's truck this time, and we were talking about the family trip that I get to plan for 2010. HS was a DEFINITE MUST DO.:rotfl:It was really interesting to talk to him about it all...

YES it was quite a crowd :rotfl: That was the one day I think I really felt the heat (well, evening, since it was 8pm!!!) I think because we were just STANDING there... dolewhips helped! BUT even still when DH took my camera and just held it above his head, to get these pics, it was because we too couldn't believe how many people were there!!! We stood next to a CM and her grandchildren. She said that Disney doesn't allow them in the MK on the 4th -- only Epcot, so I thought that was interesting... their own crowd control!

Yep, I suspect they will both love DHS sooner than later... DS did TOT once, but no more (at least not for now!) and of course even he is too short for RNRC, but there are SO many boy-adventure themes there, so I know we will be back.. We had seen the Lights Camera Action Car show before, with them, in Nov, I just couldn't bare to sit and watch it in the heat!

Great trip report...I just had to reply and say that my ds4 also liked to ride the "big cotton ball"!!!LOL
Must be a common term that alot of 4yr. olds use...who knew that is wasn't just my ds!!! LOL

Hi! And WELCOME OVER!
HA! I always think golf ball, but they don't know anything about golf, so I guess that is the next association they do have! That is funny -- shared 4yr old ideas!!! They are really literal!

Wow that sounds like some wonderful fireworks. Someday...I totally agree to go on a day like that with little expectations is what is important to remember.

I know exactly the stand with the slushies... although I am not a fan of the orange (I traded it away for the raspberry).

OHHHHH RASPBERRY!!! I don't remember why we didn't try that flavor... next time!!! :thumbsup2 IT was really wonderful to see! BUT, MS. New DVC, you'll get there soon! You should! I'd recommend it again any time. We really liked that week, and here I was complaining that we had to change the trip, vs. being excited about the 4th. The fireworks at EPCOT were even more incredible!!!! That is one benefit of going to Disney more often, you don't have all your energy spent on that one night in the park. I am sure the crowds would have caused me greater anxiety if I was trying to get all my touring in for the first time....

Ditto on WPE!! :thumbsup2

We are back, and I am pooped!
I'm laughing about the short sword, we were cleaning out Baylor's toy room and found a half sword lurking in a toy box....:lmao:

:laughing: Too much fun in Vegas??!!! OH the time zone change that may have done you in!

That is just beautiful!!

Oh, I have so been there! I can't tell you how many plastic swords (and tiaras...) I've bought that have broken (or been lost) within a very short time! But they make them so darn happy when you get them, don't they. :) The things we do for our kids....

I know... I know... I didn't mind getting the double light sabers last trip, b/c I knew they would hold up, but those dang swords!!!! :headache: That's fine, they wanted them, and they really had fun, while they lasted!!!!

I agree about HS. I haven't been there in years but that was always my least favorite park and was 1/2 day at best. We will be going next trip so I will see if I still feel that way.

HI!! Welcome!!! Well, I think as an adult there is more there, or older kids? :confused3 But yes! See what you think!

well the crowd from the 90s is alive and well in 2009!!!! It was nuts!!! Though I didn't feel it as much at Epcot... I know everyone says that, but this time it is true!!! ;)

So 3 times on TSM? What fun!! It sounds like you had a very nice, well thought out day and the fireworks! WOW! The red, white and blue on the castle are so cool! I'm glad you got your spot when you did. What a can of sardines!!

Oh goody, a magical surprise to look forward to! :yay:

YES, it was a great day and evening! Thanks! I like that pic too!:goodvibes
Of course DS7 was trying to oust DS4 off the cruiser so HE could ride solo... :rolleyes1

AND yes, 50s Primetime!!! We split a club sandwich and the onion ring appetizer and a PB&J milkshake.. It was perfect for both of us... Boys had Mac and Cheese, which they only had twice on this trip, once I think at WPE? It was that or spaghetti... and then 50s Primetime! I felt we did pretty well with the kids DDP options!

Holy mackerel that is a LOT of people waiting for the fireworks!

Glad you liked Hall of Presidents. What did you think of the Obama figure? Did you think it looks like him? I guess there's been a lot of discussion on this matter?

Can't wait for more. A surprise dinner location that isn't an ADR... Hmm.....

YOU are telling me. There were LOTS O LOTS of people. The whole of Mainstreet, shoulder to shoulder... Toe to Toe! but friendly.

I did see the Obama figure... I guess it looks like him. It looked a little younger maybe... something about the facial expression seemed too youthful. But still it was really well done...

Dinner coming up, but the post will have to wait until Sat am!

just caught up with your latest update--what a wonderful day!! So glad the change of plans worked out for you!!:goodvibes
Gee, Thanks!! It was a great day, as our trip drew to a close, these final days were the ones we knew the least about, but which really made the trip!

You weren't kidding when you said you had changed your plans around!

I know!!! I just had a nervous feeling about trying to make it back to MK for CRT that early, and then being at MK waiting for the fireworks, and not having time to do anything else, but plenty of time with which we could do other things (rides) it it were not so crowded!!!! I also had panics about the park closing and having paid $160.00 for CRT and not getting to go!!!! We have decided on Lunch during Xmas week, on a MK day/morning... this will work out better.

YES!!! TSM is our primary reason to go to DHS, so I go the AM EMH so we can get that extra ride and FP in... And you should make a plan to go to 50s there are lots of Bo-esque waiters there!!!! :rotfl:

The FIREWORKS were really amazing. I knew we would have to stick it out if we wanted to see them, so I just was mentally ready. I wish there had been more of a breeze!!

Yes, I know you can relate!!! I have seen many a CP PTR photo with one boy and one sword... well, multiple swords.... HA!

I think you had the right attitude with the crowds. You can't expect to whip around the park on a night like that and get everything done. Someday I'd like to go to Disney on all the Holidays, Christmas being my big one and I think if you have the right frame of mind that anything is manageable!

Thanks, LL!!! Well, I will tell you all about those Christmas crowds as well, this December!!!!
It really was appropriately patriotic!!! We thought it was a great way to end, too!!!! I never saw it before the renovation, so I am sure it will delight you all the more!!!

Beautiful castle pictures! :thumbsup2
I am not sure if I could manage those crowds and then with the heat added in! Eeek!! It sure looked worth it though...and like LL said if you are in the right frame of mind

Tracy

Hello! Thanks! Yes, I was wondering the same thing , but I am glad everyone was in spirit enough to manage... I was worried either of the kids would get so bored they would start acting up, but they did very well, all considering... glow sticks and dole whips helped!!!! For us, that evening was to see the fireworks, so that was the reason why we went...

Hey! I'm caught up and I have to agree with the Star Wars speedracer thingie pic -- that's a keeper! :goodvibes

Thanks!! Well, are you going Christmas week? We are -- Dec 20 - 27... So yes, I thought the same thing -- it didn't bode well for December!! It sould be fine, though!! I have faith in the Disney Magic!!!
Oh I was totally speechless. And on the 4th? For Illuminations? Good grief. that is all I can say. I was speechless and deaf!!! ;)

What a fantastic day! That sounds like it was so fun! TSM, good lunch, extra fabulous Wishes AND plastic swords! Whew! You jam packed a lot of fun in there! The fireworks sound great! And love the castle pics, I'm a sucker for a castle pic! :lovestruc

Hi!! Gee, thanks! It was fantastic! I love the castle, too!!! I can't wait to see it in December!!! :yay:

The crowds on all other days and times were fine by my standards. this was the first time we had truly faced the masses!!!! Even on the 4th at Epcot, no problems... Anyhoo if they have patience and it isn't their first trip, they should be fine.....

Yes, those plans did change!!! But your plans changed too!!! I have been reading along in you TR, so I know the "unexpected" has come up!!! ;)

Thanks!! Well, are you going Christmas week?

Sigh, I wish. Waking up Christmas morning in WDW.... :cloud9: One year we'll make it I hope. It's not really an option for us without free dining so I'm hoping to see it happen soon. :goodvibes

I had a bit to get caught up on! :rolleyes1

Gorgeous castle pictures! :goodvibes :wizard: And man, those were some crowds!! Holy Smokes!! Glad it didn't affect you guys too much. I always say if you go into a situation like that, knowing the crowds will be bad and you know you won't get much done, it's easier to relax and just let things happen. :thumbsup2

Okay, all caught up now. The 4th fireworks look amazing. I love the way the castle was lit up. What a fun job to be the one to plan on that. I know we were amazed with the fireworks at MVMCP, but it looks like the 4th is even bigger.

Totally understand! Free dining, is a great deal!

Gee, thanks! No they really didn't get in our way, and we only really noticed massive crowds on the 3rd and on the 4th somewhat, but not as much -- honestly, wait till you hear about the 5th -- I was thinking to myself where did everyone go!!?? We had been to each park at least twice at this point, so it was easy to take it all in stride.

They really were amazing at bother MK and EPCOT. Oh I agree, it must take a lot of time to get all this just right!
