I want to participate in the 2012 Disney Princess Half Marathon!

I hope everyone is doiing well. I haven't done so good. I am having some medical issues, and am having surgery Wednesday. It's a minor medical surgery, and I should be up and moving in a couple days. I am hoping by next weekend I can start walking again.

As of now, I am signed up for a 5K in three weeks. I know I won't be able to run it, but I'm hoping I will feel good enough to walk it at least. I have to do this! I need to prove to myself that I can.

As the PP said, reading the PTRs and the 2011 Official Princess thread has really been motivating.

I hope your surgery goes well!

Thanks Karen. I am sure everything will be fine.

I just re-read my post.... "minor medical surgery" isn't all surgery medical? LOL! It's been a rough day!

Hope everyone has a great week!

Hi everyone. I am so in for this! Well atleast I hope so! I have done c25k a few times in the past few years. I did the Race for the Cure 5k last May and am trying to get back up to 3 miles right now (just started up again 3 weeks ago). My long term goal is the Princess half in 2012 :) So 5k in May, maybe a 10k in the fall and then the half. I have been looking for a group, so glad I found one! I do Galloway (1 min jog/1 min run) I love love love Galloway, no way I could do all running. I "run" real slow, and take my training really really slow, but I know I can do it if I don't have any injuries and jsut keep up with it :)

I am trying to lose some weight before our April cruise. Starting South Beach tomorrow.

It's great to read about everyone elses progress. I, too, have been training. Remember, we have 13 months to train...so don't rush things! I can't wait to see everyone at the starting line!

I too am in training for Princess 2012! Amy, I just read your blog, very inspirational!! Keep it up!

Just added the Princess 2012 dates to my calendar. We can do this!! I may be interested in the Halloween 5K.....that sounds like fun also.

Sending you :goodvibes for surgery. It's never fun when you have medical issues to contend with. After my broken leg in 2009 I know all too well how medical issues can slow you down :headache: I hope it all works out for the 5K but if not, I'm sure you can find others to do when you are feeling your best!

I personally had a set back this weekend with a wrenched knee (OUUUUCH) and have been taking it easy. My PT said he would rather me sit on my butt and work my arms than causing more damage to my knee with a treadmill session. A 5K is in my plans for the spring (10K in the fall) and I really want to RUN it rather than walk it. I am reading a book called "Marathoning for Mortals" and so far it has been inspirational. The author is John "the penguin" Bingham who claims to be the slowest marathon runner. We'll see how his "plan" works for my training.

Hang in there everyone and get excited for the 2011 Princess Half (for inspirational purposes!):cheer2:

Ok, I just read through this years program. 4am?? Wow that is crazy. Not sure I can do this. I would love to though. My kids would love to also do the family 5k. Isn't there one through Magic Kingdom a different weekend? I'm going to have to think long and hard with the start time. But I am still going to start my training with that goal in mind :)

I just ran my first timed mile. I havent run since I had to in Highschool 20 years ago... I ran it in 13:51. Not all that impressive but it's a place to start!

WOW! That's impressive to me! Keep up the great work!

Thanks for the well wishes. I'm a little nervous, but it really is a minor procedure. I'm looking forward to the 5K. DH and the kids are even going. My MIL is volunteering. It should be a fun day!

4am is CRAZY, but it will be so worth it when I'm running/walking through the Magic Kingdom and round the curve to see Cinderella's castle! :lovestruc I mean, seriously, what could be better than that?!?! :confused3

Hi Gals- Just saw this link on the 2011 half thread about preventing injuries and thought you might all like to see it!

http://shine.yahoo.com/channel/health/prevent-the-five-most-common-running-injuries-2442312

Thank you for the link!

I am doing a 5K in April and a few friends are joining me- I am happy to be able to walk/jog it , doing intervals.
I am more nervous about doing something wrong like passing someone when you aren't supposed to or just doing something wrong when jogging. I need to read up on the racing etiquette :)
My DD (12 ) & I are signing up for the halloween 5K as soon as we can.

I can't wait to do the Princess in 2012!

Thank you for all the well wishes. My surgery went well. We won't know if it worked for a few more weeks, but I am saying my prayers. Dr said I could go back to my normal routine this weekend as long as I listen to my body and don't over do it. Here's hoping I will feel up to the 5K in a few weeks!

We have freezing rain right now. I live in the south and we are NOT used to this. Most schools and daycares were closed yesterday and today. I need something quiet to keep the kids busy today so we will be making Valentine cards and "mail boxes" out of shoe boxes.

Hope everyone is staying warm, and keep up with the training!!

I didn't know there was racing etiquette!!!! :confused3 Guess I have a lot to learn.

I read an article the other days about running etiquette and had no idea what they were saying- too many tech terms for me .

I am not sure of all the in's and outs :) but I keep reading web sites for runners and marathons and there are things you just don't do.

Even the Run Disney site has info on things you should do or not do..

I am hoping some of the pro's around here will give out tips !

SPITTING!?!?! Oh my! I have so much to learn. Here I thought it just had to put one foot in front of the other! :rotfl2:

I don't think I need to spit....but boy does my nose run! I keep telling it, I'M running, not you!
