We are doing the Fantasmic Package at H&V, and I have heard some bad reviews about the place. We did MM last year and didn't like it!
I want to hear from some people who like H&V!! That will make me feel better about choosing it. We didn't want to use 2 TS credits for Brown Derby.

What dishes do they have at H&V and what are your favorites??

Thanks :goodvibes

I found the staff there very helpful. They were very prompt in bringing our drink orders and a replacement fork when I sent my first one flying.

In terms of the food, mom thought it was her favourite meal. (We were on a budget so did CS everywhere else)

We had done H&V for the package too and was worried after hearing the reviews.

I enjoyed trying little bits of everything from chicken nuggets to mac and cheese, to the tomato paollo (something like that, reminded me of couscous)
Mom really enjoyed the pork and chicken dishes. There are so many options for picky eaters. I remember wings, pasta salad, leafy salad, the pork and chicken dishes, shrimp, and on the kids table, mac and cheese, chicken nuggets, corn, roasted garlic potato which was very good.

A very satisfying meal and a very nice staff. Our one complaint would be the wait for the washroom as they share with Prime Time.

We ate there on 6/12/07 for the Fantasmic package and enjoyed it very much. The chef came to our table, because 2 of my kids have peanut/treenut allergies. He was super friendly and helpful. The waitress was outgoing and efficient. We loved the food. DH and DS13 ate a ton of peel & eat shrimp and mussels. I liked a raspberry chicken dish, along with the cornbread, prime rib and salads. The watercress and orange salad was especially good. DD9 liked the veggie pasta best, while DS13 preferred seafood pasta with scallops and shrimp. DS5 mostly ate mac & cheese and chicken nuggets. The desserts were o.k., nothing spectacular. The kids liked dispensing their own soft serve ice cream. I ordered a Purple People Eater cocktail that was yummy. Our only problem with the restaurant was the wait to be seated. We had a 5:40 reservation. We checked in at 5:30, but weren't seated until 6:15. You're probably better off with an early ressie. The convenience of getting a pass for Fantasmic was worthwhile. We didn't have to go to the theatre until 8:30 and got terrific seats.

we ate there last year for the Fantasmic package and will do so again this year. The kids loved the pot roast, garlic mashed potatoes and green beans. I loved the cold fruit and peel & eat shrimp on what was a very hot day. Funny story: DS grabbed a big bowl of what he thought was cranberry sauce. WRONG - BEETS:rotfl2: :rotfl2: Priceless look on his face as he took a big mouthful!!!!

The desserts were nothing special but w/free DDP, I got PLENTY of desserts!!! You'll be fine and it was worth it not to have to wait in a big line for Fantasmic. Also, I like the reserved seats although some apparently do not.

My kids asked to go back to H&V on the FDP on our trip this year. :grouphug:

They liked the foods on the buffet and especially the dessert bar. There were rice crispy bars, ice crean with toppings and lots of small cakes. It wasn't Chef Mickeys's but it was lots of fun for them and filled them up. :cool1:

My DW is a picky eater and even she had a good time there. They had some salad bar items which were different than most of the other buffets. The service was good too. I think the people who complain are looking for foods which are outside the theme of the place or just hot and bothered from their touring. :headache:

If you want characters at the meal, you can get the FDP around lunch time. To avoid them get a dinner time seating.

I have only eaten the character breakfast there and was also leery due to bad reviews. I liked it the food was good and the staff great the character interaction was awesome . I am planning a solo trip next year and am thinking about adding the Fantasmice package I love buffets and shrimp and mussels YUMM!! I think this thread has sold me.

I talked my family into skipping it last Oct for MM (big mistake other than flatbreads & salads - how can you mess up spaghetti?). Looking forward to it next week:banana: . Not sure if the rootbeer sweet potatoes are still offered (yum); good & different salads, everything is fresh.

It has a retro diner vibe; staff is unpretentious and food is decent - wide variety for all to choose from (have spied a few of the more upscale Chef Mickey items we enjoyed the same stay:thumbsup2 ).

My chief complaint (that cannot be blamed on the restaurant mgmt) is the increasing number of unsupervised children @ the adult buffet who tend to spill food, sample & put items back or even worse, stick their hands in the common bowl for a taste) . At times, when the kids are especially tired and cranky the noise level can soar to amazing levels (they need some sound deadening materials). Guess parents taking a screaming child outside 'till they calm down is a thing of the past.:confused3 Granted most kids do just fine, don't get why it seems to be such an issue here as opposed to other buffets we frequent, CM & CP - perhaps the lack of charactars @ Dinner to distract them?

me ... me ......I mean US ........US.....we liked it ...we were four adults and we had a great time and good service and the food was plenty and hot.....I enjoyed the whole thing.....

We love H&V, this is the first year in many we are not eating there, only becasue my parents are going, and wanted to try some new places and more TS meals rather then buffets. We have even eaten there twice in a trip before the free DDP, the kids enjoy it.

:) :) We did H&V last July and are doing it again for the Fantasmic Package this December. Being a buffet it has something to suit everyone, and we enjoyed it!

We ate there last Tuesday with the FDP, and my opinion is that it is unremarkable. Check the menu, and that's pretty much what it is. Nothing really jumped out at me, dish-wise. Everything was just average.

Would we do it again? Well, this was our second Fantasmic, and to be honest, we don't really need to see it again. BUT, if we did decide to do Fantasmic, we would prolly choose H&V over the others for the cost savings and potential for variety.

Having the FDP seating was great considering our showing was SRO.

My family really enjoys this restaurant. It is my husband favorite buffet. We ate dinner there the past 2 summers with the FDP and really enjoyed it. Even my very picky DS 5 found things he would eat. In March we decided to try it for breakfast so we could do the character breakfast. We all enjoyed that as well but My husband and 3 DS were disappointed when they found out I had not also reserved a meal there for dinner. (Where were they when I was planning all of our TS meals and kept asking for opinions of where to eat??!! ) Oh well they all said that next trip (and to quote my DS 5 "every other trip for the rest of our lives") we will have to eat there. :)

Happy to find this thread as we are in the same boat as OP -- tried Mama Melrose's Fantasmic Pkg. last year and it was a disaster! The server brought our appetizers and entrees out within about 5 minutes of each other and then just disappeared for around 30-40 minutes...table loaded with extra plates, no drink refills, etc. Then it seemed to take forever to get dessert and the check. I don't know if she was serving other tables elsewhere or what -- but it was a disappointing experience for us, so now we're looking forward to trying H&V instead.

We actually did it twice on our trip last Aug. Once for breakfast, the other time for dinner. The breakfast was so-so, but ireally was pleasantly surprised with the dinner. They had a good variety of food that was turned over quickly. As far as buffetts go it was better than the dinner at Chef Mickey's.

One thing I wanted to ask about H&V is this -- are you absolutely packed in there like sardines? We did the character dinner at Crystal Palace last year and the tables were so close together is was difficult to even get seated without banging into the person behind you. Is it the same way @ H&V?

We've done the FDP twice at H&V and really liked it both times. It's not Victoria & Albert's, but we knew that going in. We found the food to be warm, tasty, replenished often and enough variety to make it an interesting dining experience. The dessert bar was really good. Good, solid fare.

Now that is one thing I DID like about H&V. We had a 6:20pm ADR, and I thought the place was actually kinda deserted compared to my meals at CM and Boma. Table spacing was fine, and I never waited for a single dish in line other than the ice cream, where I just hopped over to the other machine.

This place is great because it has a little bit of something for everybody. I love the salad section, while my family loves the meats and hot entrees. Desserts are also very yummy. We havent missed this buffet for the last 4 times we were in the world.

Me and DH liked it. We did the fantasmic package at H&V we paid oop for it since it was not that costly, and saved out credit for cali grill. The buffet was good we thought. The peel n eat shrimp were good, the spoon cornbread was awesome, and their glazed chicken was good. overall the buffet was good the waitress was nice, and attentive we would do it again. I can't say anything bad about H&V theme was cute and you couldnt beat the nearby walk of fantasmic theater.
