"I Want To Go Back!!!"....a Sept 2010 PTR(upd 10/12-TR Started!)

Awesome flight times!! And way to go for your DH getting such great rates!

Oh my gosh! Yall got such an awesome deal on airfare!!! Southwest is the only airline I've flown in the past 5 or so years... I love them!

I need to find out what your husband said to the lady at Guest Relations... pass it on! Hahahaha! ;)

I think that charging for checked baggage is here to stay...before Cont. only charged for the 2nd bag each person had...this last trip they charged us for allll the luggage!!! RIP OFF!!! So...if we get to go back when it's warmer (and we don't have to pack such a variety) I will try to get 2 or 3 carry-ons and 2 reg suitcases...we usually ship all the toiletries and snax down there...
I read somewhere last year, where people are Fed-Exing all their stuff, then they just rebox and ship it back home and it's a pretty good deal. Sounds great to me!! Then everything else will be in a backpack on the plane!!!

That is horrible! We're lucky that we've always flown JetBlue and they don't charge for the 1st checked bag/person. As long as JB and SW don't change anything, we won't have to worry about sending anything down before we get there. I don't think I could do it anyway. You know me...I don't pack until the day before we leave!

Way to go on the airfare! What a deal!

Thanks. It pretty awesome!

Wow, $69 each way is an amazing price!! We got $89 and I thought we got a bargain...and you live further from Disney than we do! :woohoo:

I do agree, we flew Delta which had some fun in flight games and things to keep us busy built into the headrests. But for the price, SW is a great airline...and the only one where you can take 2 bags for free! :thumbsup2

It's such a great bargain. It makes the trip even better! My DH has flown SW before and it's really not his favorite. I don't really care as long as we're going to Disney!

Pretty great, huh? I'm very happy about the times. I have the best DH ever.

That is a deal that can't be beat for sure. Glad to hear that you like SW. This will be my 1st time flying with them.

I'm so happy to hear you got great rates and your flights booked. As you said, another item checked off your to do list!

All caught up!

Madison's hair looks adorable! :goodvibes

Congrats on the airfare. Way to go Tony!
We're probably flying for our next trip. After our experience with driving this last time I don't want to do it again. I have so much to learn about airline regulations and using ME before our next trip. At least I've got PLENTY of time to research. Be sure to let me know how you like Southwest. My parent's fly with them and never had any trouble.

It is another item checked off the list. Now, I just have to find something to do to pass these next 6 months!!! :rotfl: Planning the trip is just as much fun as taking it. I did just order 2 new Disney books (UG 2010-like I need it and the new color companion that UG just put out) so I'll be reading those like crazy. I have the UG from last year, but new editions are so much fun! I ordered the new 2010 Passporter before we even had our trip planned. :rotfl:

Thanks! It's so much easier to comb her hair every morning. Not as many tears and tangles.

The airfare is truly amazing!!! We have the best flight times too. You definately did not have a great experience driving back in Jan!!!! ME is so easy to use and most airports now have family security lines that are great. SW's new boarding procedure sounds much better than the cattle herding that they use to do. Before, you would check-in 24 hours before your flight and get a seating group (A,B or C). They still do the letter groupings, but now you actually a number with it (for example: A15). At the gate, they will call out A 1-30; you then go stand by the column that has your number so you don't have to scramble to go get in line. This sounds much better!!!

I totally agree with you that planning is as much fun as the vacation. I have the 2010 UG but haven't looked at it much. I'm still going through the Hidden Magic book, which I love!

I've been tempted to order the color companion. Let me know what you think. I guess I decided with all the pics here on the DIS, I didn't need it. But maybe I do. (haha NEED - is that a relative term?) I do kinda wish they had a photo companion for the Hidden Magic book. It would be helpful to see where I'm supposed to be looking for things, especially in WS at Epcot.

I don't have the Passporter for this year. I have the 2008 version and I don't remember using it much. I should go back through it and decide whether to order it for 2010. Since you have one, what's your advice?

I love the Hidden Magic book! Pictures would be a great addition to that one for sure. I also have Volume 2 of the Walt Disney World Trivia Book. It's a good one too. I really like my Passporter and if you registered your book on the website (you still should be able to) you'll get a % off of your new order. I have the Deluxe edition (with the leather binder) so I only had to order a refill. I think it's great. There are lots of reader pics and they're reviews are really good too. I like the Pass Pockets, but sadly, they don't fit in my VB Hipster so I don't bring them with me to the parks. If you love all Disney books, I'd say to buy it. :thumbsup2

I'm joining in here too! :) Great start on your PTR. You have a lovely family!

Thank you so much! :goodvibes

My head is absolutely spinning with all this fall discount talk. People are saying if FD isn't the new promo, they're hoping for the 4/3 discount from last year. Maybe Disney would even include the dining plan this time (only pay for 4nights and get 3 free). So.....I decided to price out everything so I'm prepared for whatever comes out. :rotfl: I now have prices at Pop and POFQ (it's on my list of places I'd like to stay). I'd like to share my crazy Disney math with all of you:

POP
7 nights, 7 day hopper, DDP= $2225.09
7 nights, 7 day hopper= $1553.30 (that would be FD)
7 nights, 7 day hopper + upgrade to DDP (in case QS if offered to values)= $1707.30
4 nights, 4 day hopper, 4 nights DDP=$1630.45 (4/3 w/dining included)
4 nights, 4 day hopper, 7 nights DDP= $1918.36 (4/3 w/o dining included)

POFQ
7 nights, 7 day hopper, DDP= $2749.83
7 nights, 7 day hopper = $2078.04 (FD)
4 nights, 4 day hopper, 4 nights DDP= $1930.25 (4/3 w/dining included)
4 nights 4 day hopper, 7 nights DDP= $2218.16 (4/3 w/o dining included)

By staying at Pop, FD is definately the best deal for us. If we decided to move over to POFQ (but we really, really, really love Pop), the 4/3 deal with DDP included is the best. We did just save $300 on our airfare by Tony calling SW. If 4/3 plus dining is the deal, it would only be $300 to upgrade to POFQ. Or we could save that $300 and use it towards souvies, extra snacks, tips for our meals, etc. I'M GOING CRAZY!!! Tony said we can go over all the numbers later tonight. He is the banker/math expert in the family!!!! Like I said, we ADORE Pop (no sharing buses, great food court and pools) so I don't even know if we would switch or not. If Disney decided to lose their minds and not offer ANYTHING for fall, at least we've saved $200 with our pin code. Thanks for letting me go on and on with all this!!!!

If I didn't know better, I'd think you're an accountant like me. But isn't Disneymath fun??

Disney math is also fuzzy math...if I get an AP, it'll save me money in the long run....andddd I can fit another trip in... :rotfl:

What PIN did you get? 'Cause I'd also keep an eye out for a room only discount.

I am doing the same thing right now! I have so many numbers written down everywhere that I am going crazy with numbers! We are a group of 5 adults so our numbers are a little higher than yours but I even have some deluxe numbers written down! I am going crazy also waiting for this dining release whatever it may be!!

I got the 20/30/40 pin in my email awhile ago. So, right now, we're booked with 20% off of our room at Pop. We've added 7 day hoppers and the DDP.

POFQ ended up being a better vaule for us last month on the 4/3 deal. Values were only offering 5/2. The difference price was $200. For that small of a difference it was worth it to try a moderate. If I ever start my report I'll have pictures of the resort.

Congrats on your flight price!:thumbsup2

Thanks! POFQ looks so quaint and peaceful. I just don't like that it shares a bus w/POR. I love getting on the bus at Pop and heading right to the parks and then coming straight home. If a Mod is a better deal for us, we might jump on it. We just all love Pop so much!!!

My vote would go for the moderate! But, I would consider CBR or CSR. We loved CSR and I had never gave 2 thoughts about staying there. It was the only mod available and I just booked it on a whim. The queen size beds are wonderful!! The pool is fabulous and the resort itself is pretty and relaxing. No bus sharing either!

I've stayed at POFQ and although the boat to DTD is wonderful the resort just seems older and the pool is a bit lackluster. Not sure if you had much pool time planned. Perhaps you'd like POR?
