I want to apply for Fall 2012, but I have a few concerns...

I applied and got in for Fall Advantage 2010 as a PhotoPass Photographer. Everything for me was fine up until I got sick with the flu. I went to work with a fever twice and was sent home both times (no point). I called out once for that which resulted in me getting a point. I thought I was much better a week later and decided to go to the parks and play on my day off. Well...a few days later I had a relapse and it was a bad one... I had to call out again for that. On top of that I came down with strep during my moms vacation. :confused3 I was much better and not contagious before my mini-vacation with her ended which saved me from calling out.:woohoo: A month later or so came and I had headaches for a month straight every time I woke up and went to bed. Two were soooo bad that I could not function in the sunlight for my role. (2 points). I dealt through one and went to work before being rushed two hours into my shift to the hospital because they wouldn't stop (i got a point for that).

By the end of my program I left with 2 reprimands. I was SOO upset and I'm still upset about it. I care deeply about the company and wanted so badly to make a good impression on them and I don't think I did that. I did leave with a Guest Fanatic Card and Applause O-Gram on my record card, so I don't think I ruined my impression fully; just enough to make me question whether or not I will get rejected if I apply this term. I know ultimately that it's up to God if it happens or not. I'm just asking all this to get a perspective from you kind folks on here. :)

My two questions for you all about this:

1) With those 2 reprimands do you think I have a shot at all getting back in? I brought in doctors notes to give them proof. Also, I've held the same job down for almost a whole year and I know Disney looks for job employment for 6 months or more. This upcoming March will be my one year anniversary with my current job.

2) I put in a few early releases to get off work when I had family in town and couldn't get those days off. Do you guys think that will be a hinderance?

Or should I just call Disney recruiting on Monday and ask them? This concern has been at the forefront of my mind recently since applications are coming our soon.

You still graduated and such from the program right? Did your managers ever tell you that you were in good standing when you left? I think that you would be fine, in my opinion, because there are people that left before the program ended and they have been able to come back. Also my friend who had a few reprimands on his record card just went back to do a culinary program and I don't think he had any issues when applying. I find it strange that they gave you a point for being taken to the hospital after your shift started...usually they would just ros you. I got an ros when I had been playing in the park but about an hour before my shift started I started feeling really sick. I was gunna endure it but when I went to talk to my coordinator, she said she would get right on giving me an ros(apparently I looked like death or something lol) and so I went home and all was good.
They may ask about those points( I'm not sure if they will or not) but just tell them what happened honestly.

I agree with taigirl. Don't worry too much about it. I've known lots of people who have been in similar situations and one even got a management PI with several reprimands on his record card! As long as you still finished your program, you're fine. No worries! :cool1:

If I were you, I'd apply again. If you're still really worried about it, explain what happened in your phone interview and ask. You're probably fine though. Don't worry too much about it! :goodvibes

Slight word of caution though: Disney doesn't like people who are sick all the time, even if it's not their fault. I have seen people termed for being unreliable (in extreme situations, much more dramatic than yours) due to medical troubles. Despite the reason, they still need people who show up to their shifts. It sucks, but that's how it is. I'm assuming you just got super unlucky that semester in continuing to be sick/get sick. Try to take vitamins every day or something and make sure you stay healthy! And make it clear if you do explain it to someone at Disney, that you're not normally always getting sick and such.

You'll probably do great though! And try to sound confident and make sure to let them know how much you loved it! Focus on the positive, Disney likes that, and you obviously loved your experience (minue the sicky parts)! :) Good luck, again! :goodvibes

Oops, I forgot. And about those ERs, noone will ever even see them. No one notices them or looks at them. They don't even go on your record card. Don't let that bother you at all!

I agree with what everyone has said, but my best advice is to be honest and tell them that you are aware of your record card. They understand that life happens. The worst thing you could do would be to not apply. :yay:
