"I Wanna See My Castle!" October 2013 TR *COMPLETE* **NEW TR LINK!!** 7/3

Love all of the Hallowishes pictures!

That was such a great display of fireworks. It may not have the emotional punch of Wishes but it sure does win in terms of sheer spectacle! When those finale fireworks go off in panorama.....just awesome!

It was a lot of fun meeting you that night and watching Hallowishes together! It was also very nice to watch it and take pictures with another fellow photographer! Two tripods are always better than one when "fortifying" a viewing location for fireworks. :lmao:

Ugh to the makeup and shoe fail. that is the WORST! Last year my wig started really itching during the party and it was driving me CRAZY, so I know how annoying those little things are when they become BIG things. Still, you guys look so cute in your pictures! Love them!

And the fireworks - OMG - so jealous. I wish I could do that. They are simply gorgeous. Some day I am taking the tripod and I am going to keep trying until I get it. Just lovely! More please!

I'm definitely glad I dressed up for the party, but I guess I should have tried everything out first. Then maybe I would have gone easier on the eye makeup! :rotfl: It's worth it for the good family pictures we were able to get in our costumes.

DH did a great job with the fireworks photos! He really did a lot of research before the trip to make sure he could get the shots he wanted.

I love your pictures from the parade! The Halloween parade is pretty awesome, I can't wait to see it again this year!

And OMG your Hallowishes pictures! So perfect! And your costumes, I love them! Ahhh I can't wait for the Halloween party this year! :cool1:

I absolutely LOVED the parade! Paxton and I actually listened to the Boo to You music in the car this morning on the way to daycare. :goodvibes

I hope very much that we are able to make another October trip next year and go to another party. It was so much fun! I am so bummed to miss it this year.

You definitely got it...they left an impression, just not the emotional one that Wishes does! HalloWishes is definitely a sight to be seen!

It was really great that we were able to hang out with you during the party! I'm sure DH appreciated being able to spend a little time with someone who knows what all he's talking about when he starts chattering about cameras and lenses. :rotfl: And yes, your two tripods made quite the blockade!!

Day 6 Continued: Sunday October 27th

After being amazed by HalloWishes, we were ready for some space age fun in Tomorrowland!

06-206 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

The first thing we did when we got in was to run through the Trick or Treat line by Stitch's Great Escape, which only took a couple of minutes. Then the music of the Tomorrowland Monsters Inc. dance party got to be too much to ignore, so we headed over that way hoping to get DS to dance! He wouldn't, but we did enjoy seeing our pals Sulley, Mike, George Sanderson (complete with sock!) and, most importantly, BOO!

We got to see Sulley doing the Cupid Shuffle, so if you have ever wanted to see what that looks like, have a look at this video, where we were kind enough to record that for your viewing pleasure!

VIDEO: Sulley Dancing

By this time, all of the standing around for the parade and fireworks had done a horrible number on my feet, so I was desperate to sit down. But instead of just grabbing a seat on a bench, we went for the better option of taking a spin on the TTA.

06-211 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

06-212 by disneymom1024, on Flickr
DS was just a little nervous, as you can see here!

06-214 by disneymom1024, on Flickr
Nothing a light up pumpkin and a glowstick couldn't fix!

06-215 by disneymom1024, on Flickr
Well for a second at least. :rotfl: Check out that lip!

After a nice respite from the standing and walking we had been doing, our round trip on the TTA came to an end. We stopped by the dance party one more time for DH to get some more character pictures.

06-217 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

We did the Trick or Treat trail from Tomorrowland to Fantasyland, which was pretty deserted. When we came out by Fantasyland, we ran into the meet and greet spot for Donald & Daisy in their costumes. This was one of my "will do if we can" meets, so we saw about getting in line, but the wait seemed a little too long for us. So instead, I took DS to Trick or Treat at the Speedway while DH hung around and just got pictures of the ducks alone instead.

06-218 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

06-219 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

When DH came back to find us, he had brought a surprise...popcorn in the Mickey hitchhiking ghost bucket!!

06-221 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

We walked up to Main Street for our last must do of the night...meeting Mickey Mouse!

06-222 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

06-223 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

We pretty much walked right in to see Mickey because there was absolutely no one else in there! I was really excited to see Mickey in his Halloween costume, but...instead we were surprised with talking Mickey!

PP-091 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

I'm not sure DS knew what to make of this talking Mickey thing happening! He seemed confused. Mickey led him inside and said he had been bouncing with Tigger the other day, and would DS want to bounce with him? Mickey started bouncing enthusiastically, while DS needed a little prodding for even a small bounce. He kept looking back at me and smiling like he wasn't sure what to do!

06-227 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

06-228 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

Then Mickey suggested getting a picture of them bouncing. Yeah, DS wasn't catching on, as you can see in these pictures where he is decidedly NOT bouncing!

06-230 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

PP-092 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

Then Mickey gave the cutest little shrug to DH and I like, "Well, I tried!" It was so cute! Please excuse my cackling if you choose to watch this little video of the interaction.

Day 6 Continued: Sunday October 27th

Since DS wasn't looking like he was going to bounce with Mickey anytime soon, we went ahead for the posed photos at that point.

We exited the theater just as the second Boo to You parade was about to start. There were plenty of places we could have gotten in to watch, but we decided we were ready to head out of the park. I took DS to the restroom over by the fire station while DH went out to the entrance plaza to get some pictures since it had still be light out when we had arrived at the park.

The CMs at the exits handed us some Peeps as we exited, and we walked straight onto a monorail. I won't lie, by then I was done with those awful shoes and took them off to walk up the ramp to the monorail station! I did have to put them back on to walk back to the car once we got to the TTC, but it was nice to have another few minutes of relief.

We got back to Bonnet Creek at 11:30 pm and put DS straight to bed. DH and I took our showers and were in bed ourselves by 12:30 am. But not before I took a picture of the candy we had collected over the night!

Not bad for thinking we weren't going to Trick or Treat at all during the party!

I have to say, I had been really looking forward to our first MNSSHP, and it was even better than I could have ever imagined!! As excited as I was, I had still worried a lot about attending a sold out party and not getting to do everything we wanted because of that (especially going just a few days before Halloween), about DS getting cranky staying up so late, and about rain ruining the night for us also. But I really can't imagine that this night of our trip could have been any more perfect!

We were able to get into the park a lot earlier than I had thought we would and we were able to do a lot of fun attractions and have our dinner before the party even started. We had some AMAZING character interactions with Donald pre-party, and with Rapunzel, Flynn Rider, and Mickey Mouse during the party. We got to hang out with Dave, which I think all of us had been looking forward to. The parade and fireworks were even more amazing than I could have imagined. DS was EXCELLENT all night with no meltdowns or crying or opposition to whatever we wanted to do. And best of all, it wasn't sold out and the weather was perfect!!

Overall, I am thrilled that we put out the money for this party and we had a fantastic time! I can't wait until we can go to another one, hopefully next year if we are able to take DS out of school. We all three loved our first MNSSHP!

FIRSTS FOR TODAY:
*Visiting pool at Bonnet Creek
*MNSSHP
*Meeting Flynn Rider and seeing what was in his satchel
*Celebrate the Magic castle show
*Meeting talking Mickey

UP NEXT: Epcot

The party sounds amazing! I'm glad y'all had such an awesome time! The Mickey meet and greet sounds like it was adorable. I probably would've been confused too! Like, why are we bouncing? Hahaha.

Great dance party pics, love the video of Sulley dancing :lmao:

Good idea taking a break on the Peoplemover :) DS looks so cute even when he's scared!

Yay for the Mickey popcorn bucket!!

Aww Talking Mickey!! Great video and pics.

I'm so glad MNSSHP worked out so perfectly for you all and that you had such a fantastic time :)

So glad you guys had a good time at the party. It almost makes me want to go again...almost.

I do like the concept of a Monster's Inc Dance Party, just for something a little different. Boo is seriously one of the best characters to see. She just looks so comical and cute.

See, as much as I enjoy the Christmas Party, and the characters are adorable in their outfits, they're pretty much all the same... scarves. The Halloween Party has it all over that with the awesome variety of costumes.

TALKING MICKEY!!!!!! That just still blows my mind even now.

So glad you enjoyed the Party so much. It really is fantastic. As long as you stay reasonable, you can get a ton done. That's it, I need to go back this year!!

What a wonderful party!! Makes me want to try it out with Aria!

Your comment about walking barefoot reminded me of our trip to Montreal in 2011 (I was pregnant at the time) and I wore super uncomfortable shoes and walked about a mile in them. We went with DH's boss bc it was a work trip for DH that I just tagged along on...and I ended up walking back to the hotel barefoot through the city at midnight. Made such a great impression I am sure! But oh man I couldn't walk another moment in them! :rotfl:

Anyway, I laughed out loud at Paxton's Mickey meet and not wanting to bounce with him! I could see Aria doing the same exact thing! too funny

Great update! When we were there a few years ago, the Dance Party was just Goofy and Stitch I believe. That's cool they turned it into a Monsters Inc one. :)

We just did the talking Mickey m&g a few weeks ago, and Mickey told my nephews he had just been spinning on the teacups, and would they spin with him. So they all went spinning around. :) I wondered what other things he might say, so that's cool he does the Tigger hopping one, too. :)

Loved all your updates and photos of MNSSHP - I'm so glad you enjoyed it, I loved it when we went a couple of years ago! :goodvibes

I love that Boo was out in her costume! So precious.

I also love Donald and Daisy's costumes, but not sure I would wait too long for them.

That is so awesome you got to meet Talking Mickey, but I can see how it would be confusing for DS. You meet all these silent characters and then Mickey starts chatting. :confused3

So glad you had a great MNSSHP experience! I've been dying to do one, but with school right now it's not really feasible...maybe for 2015 ;)

The party WAS amazing! It was so much better than I could have expected, and I was so happy that all the things I spent so much time stressing myself out over didn't happen.

Considering it was several hours past his bedtime and Mickey was asking him to bounce around, I'm sure he was confused! :rotfl:

It was pretty hilarious seeing a gigantic blue furry monster getting down like that at the dance party. :cool1:

The Peoplemover was an excellent choice for letting my feet rest a bit. :thumbsup2

Talking Mickey was great, despite the confusion over the bouncing and such. lol

Thanks! The party was a hundred times better than I could have dreamed!

So glad you guys had a good time at the party. It almost makes me want to go again...almost.

Again, what a bummer that y'all didn't have a great party experience. I hope if you ever do decide to give it another try that it's an awesome experience!!

Yeah, I liked that the Tomorrowland dance party in particular brings out a lot of the characters from the movies that you can't see anywhere else and never could. I'm very glad we went with that one instead of my plan for doing the Frontierland party! Boo is PRECIOUS!! I just love her!

Yes, I know exactly what you mean! When we went to the MVMCP a couple of years ago, I had zero interest in meeting any of the characters for exactly that reason. The only one that did seem to have a truly party specific outfit was Belle in her red dress at the time, and that didn't interest me at all since I never used to meet face characters before Paxton came along.

I know, it was pretty incredible! I didn't think they would have him out at the Halloween party since he usually meets in his costume and they were still only having him out randomly at that point.

I so wish we were going back this year!! Is it bad that Paxton doesn't even start school until fall of 2015, but I'm already looking at the policies for taking him out of school for vacation at the places we are thinking of sending him? I definitely want to go back in late October next year and go to another party!

What a wonderful party!! Makes me want to try it out with Aria!

It was SO great! I had to get past my hangup of keeping Paxton up late, but once I did, I think that helped me have a great time!

Oh goodness, I can about imagine!! Mine were uncomfortable enough without toting around baby weight. :rotfl: I'm sure people thought I was gross walking up the monorail ramp barefoot, but I was nearly in tears at that point, they were SO uncomfortable! As much as the thought grossed even me out, it was better than walking in them anymore!

It was kind of funny to watch, but so cute when Mickey gave that little shrug. :rotfl: I still laugh when I watch it! Hopefully on our May trip he will be more talkative and engaging with Mickey when we go see him.

It was really cool to see all of the different Monsters Inc. characters that have never been out for meet & greet. Especially Boo & George Sanderson with the sock on his back!

Aww, that's so cute! It's so fun reading everyone's experiences and seeing all of the different things Mickey can talk to you about. Maybe Paxton will respond better to spinning in the teacups than he did to hopping like Tigger!

Boo is absolutely adorable, and it was so cool getting to see her out and dancing! Never thought I'd see that.

Yeah, it was cute seeing some of the characters in their costumes, but not worth really long waits for them since you can meet them other times in their normal outfits.

I bet talking Mickey is confusing for a lot of kids, being that all of the other ones don't talk! Heck, even Mickey doesn't talk when you meet him in other parks. Luckily, Paxton hasn't asked yet so I haven't had to come up with a quick answer for why. :rotfl:

Hopefully you AND I can get to a party in 2015! That's definitely what I'm hoping for. I know I shouldn't really complain since we're going to Italy and all :lmao: but I am pretty bummed to be missing MNSSHP this year. I am keeping my fingers crossed we are able to take a trip next October and go back to one! Hopefully you'll be able to get to one too. :goodvibes

Day 7: Monday October 28th

You would think that with as late of a night as we had the night before at MNSSHP, we'd sleep in a bit this morning. And you'd be wrong! Well, not entirely, because we were up around 8 which is sleeping in for us. But I had been kind of hoping DS would sleep in even later than that. Oh well.

I was definitely not in a rush this morning. I had planned Epcot for that exact reason. Neither DH nor I are interested in Soarin' so we didn't need to get there early for that. And we planned to just wing it on Test Track and use SR if necessary. But I knew our plan was really going to consist of the attractions that don't have waits anyway, so it was no big deal if we didn't make it for 9 am.

Unfortunately, DH was not in tune with my plan, and was getting annoyed that I wasn't moving fast enough for him. I had to straighten my hair that morning since I had only dried it before going to bed, and we had to eat breakfast. He was still convinced that if we could move fast enough and make it before rope drop, we should. But I was not in a hurry whatsoever. We ended up leaving the room a little before 9. DS was looking adorable in his shirt I got for FREE from Stitcheroos! Since I won it in a contest, I only got to tell them the size and what name I wanted on it. They ended up sending me this shirt with Mike Wazowski and his name in Disney font!

Yeah, that's super blurry. It was an iPhone pic in the elevator, what can I say?

Since we got there shortly after the park opened, the turnstiles were pretty backed up and it took us awhile to get inside. That definitely didn't help DH's mood, but he perked up after that. We actually got into the park around 9:15 am, so not bad considering we had been out late at the party the night before.

We headed straight back to The Seas With Nemo and Friends first.

Once we exited the ride, we headed down to check out the aquariums. I didn't know how much DS would enjoy this, because it's been awhile since we have taken him to the aquarium in New Orleans. But he loved it! He had a great time checking out all of the fish, and especially liked the sea snakes or something he saw swimming around.

Day 7 Continued: Monday October 28th

After we got him away from the aquariums, we wandered over to the shark area and found this guy.

07-025 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

Now, if you read my last TR, you might remember these grand ambitions that I had of taking DS's picture inside of Bruce's mouth on all of our trips to compare through the years, and that in 2012, it ended up something like this.

0527.jpg

Not exactly what I was looking for when I wanted to take the pictures! However, I can happily say that this year was MUCH improved!!!

After wandering around the shark area, we saw that the next Turtle Talk with Crush show would be starting soon. And believe it or not, we had still NEVER seen that show! So we decided to check it out. We had a few minutes to wait, but there are some cool little aquariums and games to play in the waiting area.

We have a blow fish just like this one in the aquarium at my hospital, and the kids LOVE him!

07-032 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

Soon enough, we were entering the little theater and finding a seat on the benches. We tried to get DS to go up and sit with the kids in front, and he did for a second, but then he ended up coming back to sit on our laps. I was deathly shy when I was little, and although DS is not nearly as bad, I guess he has a little of my shyness in him!

07-036 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

We all really enjoyed the show!! By now, it has been so long since the trip and my notes were so lazy that I can't remember everything specifically that we laughed at. But I did note that DS really liked when Crush was showing off his swimming skills and crashed into the tank. I don't know that it will always be a must-do on our future trips, but we will definitely check it out again!

We stopped outside to get a picture of DS with the Nemo characters in the bushes, but he wasn't interested, so this is the best DH could get.

07-037 by disneymom1024, on Flickr

We had tackled one building of Future World, and were ready to head onto the next. Any guesses?

UP NEXT: More Epcot fun

Oops, sorry you and DH weren't on the same page but it happens. At least you got there early enough that you could still just relax. I'm impressed, even with a line getting through at 9:15 isn't bad.

I need to spend more time post-Nemo looking at the real fish. I guess we're always just in a rush to go to the next place. Maybe in a few weeks I can change that ;)

And yaaaaaaaaay for the Bruce picture turning out much better this time around. But you can always show the bad one to Paxton's future dates :P

The party sounds so amazing! I'm glad you all had a good time . Your pictures were so good! Bummer about your shoes though I hope your feet recovered that night with some rest. I enjoyed the videos of the dance party! Sulley doing the Cuban shuffle lol! Gavin got a kick out of it too, he likes mike, sulley, and boo right now. Talking mickey was so cute! I was confused why he was bouncing too so I don't blame your DS lol. Lots of candy! What a great night and there's still more to come on this trip!

Hey I think 915 is awesome considering you were out late and "slept in" especially since you weren't trying to ride soarin. I love the seas! I think we've seen turtle talk on every trip somehow. Last trip was the first time we stopped to check out the aquarium though. I'm glad Paxton liked it!

I'm very impressed with how sharp and clear the ride pix you got on Nemo. Do you use a flash? If not, how do you get them to come out so sharp? I always assumed a flash would just flush out the images, so we never use one. (That and to not disturb the other riders.)

We enjoy the Seas a lot. It's definitely not something we would do if it weren't for our daughter. The last time we didn't spend quite as much time there as in the past, but she still wanted to see Crush. She had her hand raised the whole time and never got called on. :( Disappointing. She also likes playing all the trivia games. What's funny is she plays them so many times that they repeat the questions, but she still ends up getting the answers wrong!

I'm guessing "The Land" was next. Either that or Figment.
