I think it depends. We rented from Enterprise at MCO with a debit card, but we also had to show our return airline tickets and then they charged the whole thing up front PLUS an extra (refundable) deposit.
Then back at home, one Enterprise location near us takes debit cards but only for instate rentals, and then another one doesn't take debit cards at all.
If you have any question at all, I would call the company directly and ask.
It's not really a good idea to pay for a rental car with a debit rather than a credit card. Read your car rental company's web site carefully for how they handle rentals with a debit card. You usually do have to show proof of a return airline ticket and pay a deposit or have funds frozen.
