I took video of the Illuminations Fireworks but... (updated with still photos)

The file is way too large to post anywhere. I tried compressing it with every form of MPEG compression that I could find. If I make it small enough to post, then all the detail is gone. During the finale, I turned the camera on the crowd for about 15 seconds. Since the fireworks are so bright, it's possible to make out a few faces.

I am willing to email the clip to whomever would like it. Just send me an email or PM. The file is over 6Mbytes in size and I would venture to guess that a lot of email programs will choke on it. If anyone would like to try to perform a little compression magic on the file, let me know. I'm still working on a method to display some stills from the video.

I like the way you did your title.....and thank you for keeping "howdy folks" in your signature. :)

I'll have to ask DH if he thinks our e-mail will crash and die with something that big....I'll get back to you though. :) Thanks. :)

Wish I could see it, but I'm pretty sure mine would choke. I've had problems with smaller files than that, but I thought it was because I have NO IDEA what I'm doing when I try to open them.......

Maybe you could try to compress it as a ZIP file. Then after it's e-mailed it can be unsipped by the recipient.

Mpeg compression is pretty good. I doubt that I would gain much by zipping the file. Video is somewhat random and doesn't compress well. Instead, here are a series of 6 photos from the video showing the crowd

A panorama that I put together from the above photos

Got my clip in my e-mail this morning. Thanks TC. BTW, cool composite panorama!

Thanks for the comments on the panorama. I was inspired by a program that I saw on the History Channel about the 60th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor. They used computers to enhance and stabilize some film taken of the bombing of the USS Arizona. I found it ironic that they company that did the image enhancement presented their results at a meeting held at 7:30AM on September 11, 2001. It made me shudder to think that these two tragedies which occurred nearly 60 years apart were somehow linked together by a strange twist of events.
