last week and all I can say is that this camera is one heavy camera to haul around the parks all day! maybe it was the battery grip that added weight, but I felt like I was carrying around a small child around my neck with this camera and the heat didn't help much either. my pictures aren't as clear as I wanted, but thought I would share a few anyway.

You're just not used to it yet. I literally run around with a 30D (heavier than XT with battery grip) and the 70-200 f/2.8L IS lens during assignments without camera strap for 8 hours straight with no problem (about 7 lbs). Doesn't mean I'm stronger than you. I used to be only be able to carry this lens aronud for 2 hours max, a year later it feels no havier than lifting my own arm.

most of my pics were taken with the kit lens which is small, but one day I took the 100 mm macro lens to take some pictures of the flowers at the flower and garden show. that lasted all of about 2 hrs. I left it in the room after that. :crazy2:

this is one of my DD and Warwick Davis at Star Wars weekends. he played the Ewok, but most of us remember him in Willow and the Leprechaun movies.

seriously, once you get used to it, the camera is just going to feel like a part of your body, you won't even realize that it's there.

PS: I only remember Warwick Davis as the Ewok (Chief Chirpa, IIRC). There was an article about him in Bantha Tracks (Official Star Wars Fan Club Magazine, way back when). Yes, I was and am a geek.

The rainbow shot has some awesome color depth! Is that raw or jpeg and was there any post processing?

I shlepped around the XT, and either the 70-300 IS or the 28-135 IS (this one is 72mm dia.!) Whichever was not in use was in a belt case. I felt it in my lower back!

it was taken in jpeg and I believe it was the hue and saturation adjustment in photoshop. or something in photoshop, I forget. :scratchin I'm still pretty new to this digital photography stuff. :)

Tell me about it! I bought a Rebel right before our Disney trip, too. I underestimated the weight of that thing! Began to get used to it by time to go home, though (day 8)! Ha!

I am not sure how the two compare weightwise, but I have a D50 with two additional lenses and I carry them around all day with no trouble. Of course it is not around my neck. I have the Lowepro Offtrail camera bag and it is great. It holds the camera with lens and two extra lenses or accessories and fits like a fanny pack. I position it on my side so I can grab the camera out at any given time. Carried it around SeaWorld for two days straight with no problems. I highly recommend this bag and you can remove the two small accessory / lens cases and just carry the camera.

Love the colors in the Cinderella's Castle pic - Brilliant, gorgeous! :thumbsup2

oh yeah, forgot to comment about the pic. It's gorgeous. Too bad the tip of the castle is lopped off.

The lighting and colors on that castle shot are so nice, almost soothing. :thumbsup2

Yes he was Wicket the Ewok and was also in Time Bandits which starred Kenny Baker(R2 D2) and a couple other of the main Ewoks.

Oooops is my geeky side showing?
